24.01.2022 Ebony heel cap going on and neck now fitted. Fretboard is next.

24.01.2022 As promised, a couple of fretboard photos Very nice piece of Ringed Gidgee

23.01.2022 Our eldest Granddaughter came to visit for a few days, this is what she got up to. It's an "ILIFF", a medium sized 12 Fret Guitar out of Indian Rosewood and Adirondack Spruce with Ebony Bindings, Bridge and Fretboard. What a pleasure having Mikayla here! http://www.gladstoneluthiers.com/mikaylas-iliff.html

23.01.2022 How about a bit of Necking! Not far to go now!

23.01.2022 The grain filling has started. Not long now!

21.01.2022 This build is moving along, body bevel support is in, Kerfed Linings and Rim Bands are in.

19.01.2022 A bit of necking today. Which is always nice!

18.01.2022 Been a while since I’ve updated Steve’s Build Photo Album So quite a few photos to look at.

18.01.2022 Quilted Maple with Curly Maple Bindings and Backstrip, can’t go past it!

18.01.2022 Looking forward to this one......... A Brazilian Rosewood Mini Jumbo, which is a bit of a contradiction It’s actually a Parlour Style Guitar but with proportions very similar to our Jumbo Guitar. Photos... Back plates being jointed ... Back-strip installed and levelled using a planner blade scraper. Thanks to Doug Eaton for the scraper See more

15.01.2022 This build is starting to look like a Ukulele. Side are bent......a Venetian Cutaway on Tenor Ukulele, more than a few sweaty palm moments bending it to. It’s in the first two photos under all those clamps. The Cutaway has been internally laminated with Silver Ash, hence the clamps and special little purpose made cauls. Tail and Head Block made and installed. For more pictures have a look on my website ... http://www.gladstoneluthiers.com/quilted-maple-tenor.html See more

14.01.2022 Well, Steve’s Quilted Maple Tenor (Unchained Melody) is on its way to the UK. What a pleasure to build. The Theme is based around Steve and Kim’s 25th Wedding Anniversary. Unchained Melody was the tune for their Bridal Waltz

13.01.2022 The Fretboard has taken on some of the Gypsy Theme, my take on it anyway. I’m looking forward to hearing my first Maccaferri Ukulele. I bet Bob is too!

13.01.2022 An African Blackwood Baritone with a striking Curly Sitka Spruce Soundboard. One of the true Rosewoods, ABW is one of the hardest and densest wood in the world and is mostly used for musical instruments. It is considered as the most expensive wood in the world because not only it is challenging to work with hand or machine tools, its trees are already near-threatened. But as expensive as it may seem, African Blackwood is worth the price. It is more stable and resistant to wa...rping and is rated as very durable. Back and Sides .............African Blackwood Soundboard...................Curly Sitka Spruce Fretboard, Headstock and Bridge.....Ebony Bindings..........................Queen Ebony Inlay and Rosette..........Birdseye Huon Pine and Wenge Bracing............................Falcate, laminated King Billy Pine Pickup System..............MiSi, battery-free preamp Presently strung with Living Water, Custom Baritone Strings, tuning gCEA. (Tenor Tuning) Please PM me for further details and pricing

12.01.2022 Occasionally I find a little gem. I was visiting a Cabinet Maker in the little village of Ulmarra, near Grafton in NSW. In amongst his forsale bits was this Red/Cedar looking piece, something I’d not seen before. The owner told me it was Camphor Laurel..Red Camphor Laurel. He had just finished a large red table and what I had was an off cut, a quite expensive off cut. Anyway, that piece yielded enough for two or three tenor Ukuleles, here’s the first one. Very pleased with th...e finish and the voice, and to top it off the Camphor aroma is still present and wafts out whenever you open the case. It has a double action steel trussrod in the neck Fretboard is Bound and radiused, each fret end is individually shaped and polished. Presently strung with Worth Brown Fluorocarbon strings in low G tuning, gCEA, and it has a warm/mellow voice with plenty of volume. Soundboard.......................Adirondack Spruce Back and Sides...............Red Camphor Laurel Neck...............................Curly American Maple Headstock, fretboard and bridge..........Ebony Bindings .......................................Queen Ebony Rosette................Camphor Laurel and Wenge Bracing..............Falcate, laminated King Billy Pine Tuners..................................Gold Grover Statite Pickup System..............MiSi, Battery-free Preamp. Finished in Nitrocellulose lacquer, hand levelled and polished to a mirror finish. Comes in a Hard Case with spare strings and Tuner. Can ship anywhere. Please PM me for further details. Thanks for looking

12.01.2022 A repeat customer asked if I could build him a Maccaferri/Selmer Tenor Ukulele. Of course I jumped at the chance. It’s Not a Ukulele that looks like a Maccaferri but a Maccaferri scaled to Ukulele size.... After a lot of research and making the appropriate moulds and jigs, I’m pleased to say it’s taking shape nicely.

11.01.2022 Last piece of binding going on. And a little reveal on the Arm Rest.

10.01.2022 Bindings going on. Sides cleaned up to reveal that typical Tassie Blackwood Figure.

09.01.2022 A very nice Jumbo Guitar. Back and sides are an African wood out of the Mahogany Family......Movingui. Truly spectacular! And it has a voice to match. http://www.gladstoneluthiers.com/curly-blonde-jumbo.html

09.01.2022 The Body is almost complete. Bindings and Body Bevel going on.

09.01.2022 Sometimes you’re better off just starting again. I didn’t like some of the headstock inlay so....out it goes and a new one goes in.

07.01.2022 Another build on the way. A Carved top A Style Mandolin Indian Rosewood back and sides Adirondack Spruce soundboard Curly American Maple Neck... Ebony Bindings, Headstock, fretboard and bridge See more

06.01.2022 Fretboard is on and final shaping of the neck is done!

04.01.2022 Had the pleasure of delivering the Curly Mango Tenor to Kath Tipple, Therese Pavone’s sister. Here’s a Therese and Kath playing a tribute to Andy, Theres’s late Husband. I feel very honoured that it’s being played on two of our Ukuleles.

02.01.2022 Dan Gunston doing what he does best......playing guitar! He commissioned us to make this one, an Indian Rosewood Jumbo Click the link below to see more www.gladstoneluthiers.com/dans-indian-rosewood-jumbo.html https://www.facebook.com/100010334527944/posts/1142396562781484/
