15.01.2022 If you’re a frequent visitor to our parklands you may have noticed that the flying foxes in the Marina have moved, and possibly increased in numbers. Did you know that there are three species found in the Gladstone region. The animals are protected under Queensland and Australian legislation, and it is an offence to harass, disturb or harm them. The smell and noise that comes from their roosts are natural behaviours. Our team will be keeping an eye on the roosts over the coming months for any further changes. If you come across a sick or injured flying fox, please DO NOT HANDLE OR TOUCH the animals, and call the RSPCA on 1300 ANIMAL (1300 264 625).
