Turtle hatchlings are especially vulnerable to litter left on our beaches so #DontDumpInOurBackyard. Do your part on your next beach trip by taking rubbish with you to dispose of properly. Dunes replenish sand lost to erosion, protect areas from tidal surges, provide wind breaks during high winds and much more. 23.01.2022 Road resurfacing works has begun on a section of Captain Cook Drive, Seventeen Seventy with the main resurfacing work expected to be completed by end of May. All work will be paused during the 1770 Festival (21-23 May) to ensure the road is fully open for attendees. Works will occur between 6am-6pm, Mon-Fri with some lane closures, avoiding peak traffic times.... The Captain Cook Drive Resurfacing Project is fully funded by the Queensland Government's Work For Queensland program. The $980,000 project is another example of upgrades achieved through external funding, not ratepayer dollars.

Reinforce with your children that they should avoid walking or riding bikes behind school buses and other dangerous blind spots....
