25.01.2022 During our visit to the base of Mount Ngungun Elise found some sticks to use as a musical instrument. We love seeing our little ones out and about and in the natural environment and we are looking forward to the many more adventures we will get to have. #NaturePlay #QCCS

24.01.2022 The Toddlers have been loving participating in music and movement lately, making their own musical shakers and then singing and dancing using them as props. Music and Movement helps the body and the mind work together. Exposing children to music during early development helps them learn the sounds and meanings of words. Dancing to music helps children build motor skills while allowing them to practice self-expression. For children and adults, music helps strengthen memory skills. #dancing #singing #childcare #earlychildhood #QCCS #glasshousemountains

22.01.2022 Always Was, Always Will Be NAIDOC Week 2020 recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. The 2020 National NAIDOC Poster, Shape of Land, was designed by Tyrown Waigana, a Noongar and Saibai Islander man.... Tyrown’s artwork tells the story of how the Rainbow Serpent came out of the Dreamtime to create this land. It is represented by the snake and it forms the shape of Australia, which symbolises how it created our lands. The colour from the Rainbow Serpent is reflected on to the figure to display our connection to the Rainbow Serpent, thus our connection to country. The overlapping colours on the outside is the Dreamtime. The figure inside the shape of Australia is a representation of Indigenous Australians showing that this country - since the dawn of time - Always Was, Always Will Be Aboriginal Land. #QCCS #NAIDOC2020 #NAIDOCWeek #NAIDOC

19.01.2022 At Glasshouse Early Education Centre, we believe in embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures every day, not just during NAIDOC week. Today, Kindergarten discussed the Torres Strait Islander flag and what each colour on the flag represents, The green panels at the top and the bottom of the flag symbolise the land, while the blue panel in the centre represents the waters of the Torres Strait. The thin black stripes between the green and blue panels signify the Torres Strait Islanders themselves. Then, we created our own flag, we used our handprints to symbolise that we are all coming together as one. #QCCS #childcare

16.01.2022 This morning, some of our kindergarten friends went on an excursion to Glasshouse Mountains State School for our Prep transition morning. We all walked down to the prep area, where we were greeted by Ms Clark, who will be one of our prep teachers next year. Inside the classroom, we started off with some dancing and a story, before we played a fishing game. We used a magnetic fishing rod to catch a fish, then we had to identify the picture on the back of the fish! Then, we... had the opportunity to create our own fish, before we had the chance to play out in the playground. We all had a great time exploring our big school! #transition #QCCS #childcare #bigschool

14.01.2022 The Kindy children have been really interested in Animals and Zoo's at the moment so we have set up lots of different learning experiences around this interest. One of the areas is a Zoo enclosure that Miss Chloe set up on the light board where the children can sort the animals into their groups like in a real zoo. The children have then extended their own learning from this making their own enclosures and houses for the animals using different resources in the room. Today Lake and Buster used the magnetic shapes to create different houses for the animals. #LoveLearning #QCCS

They also had a wonderful time trying out the different playground equipment which really challenged their climbing skills. At the end of the day they enjoyed exploring the natural resources and used them to make some very creative structures. Problem solving skills really came into effect as they worked together and individually. #natureplay #QCCS #earlylearning #childcare #bushkindy

10.01.2022 Today it was the Kindy children's turn for Bush Kindy. Everyone was super excited to go and see what adventures they could have. Everyone did really great crossing the little creek and then we arrived at a good spot to play where we could climb up one side of the tree and down the other side. Miss Nikole found a field of flowers that we walked through and, on the way, we found a fairy door so we had to be very quiet so we didn't scare them. We then went on a bear hunt through the forest and came back to the big tree to climb again. We also balanced on the logs and then listened to all the different sounds that we could hear. Some of the children even pretended to light a fire using just sticks. #LoveLearning #QCCS

08.01.2022 Why Swimming? At Glasshouse Early Education Centre we value our role of supporting children and families in their most important job in the world - raising amazing and capable little humans. As Queenslanders, most children are water babies and love to get into any water on a hot day! So one of the most valuable skills a child can learn in their first five years is the ability to swim confidently and learn correct water safety from qualified swim instructors. Whic...h is why we offer swimming lessons for our Kindergarten children, to reduce the added pressure of families trying to find time for lessons in their already hectic schedules. Not only is this a great support, but the children and teachers love it too! If you are interested in learning more about our engaging Government Approved Kindergarten program for 2021, please contact our Nominated Supervisor Dee for a tour. #swimming #kindergarten #QCCS #glasshouse #glasshousechildcare #earlylearning #qld #kindergartenactivities
