24.01.2022 A locksmith should always ask for ID when doing a lock out. It has to be the person living there otherwise it is illegal. Not even a landlord or realestate is allowed to gain entry without residents permission.

22.01.2022 This is a Mortice Lock (For anybody who does not know how to clarify what type of lock this is). Mortice locks are fitted inside the door, the handles furniture is the only thing exposed on each face. These locks were around up to 150 years ago or so, and are still made with the old style keys, although they are available these days with normal flat keys and protruding cylinders.

20.01.2022 Did a job today where the new tenants had an unwanted visitor as they did not change the locks when they moved in. Good idea to get the lock on the entry doors rekeyed as it does not cost too much, and then you know you can feel safe that no one will enter with an old key.

13.01.2022 What is the difference between a deadbolt and a deadlatch? A deadlatch (gold lock in picture) is a lock that will automatically lock as you close the door. A Deadbolt (silver in picture) will not lock automatically and when leaving the key must be turned to throw the bolt. Deadsbolts are illegal on apartment door as they are a fire risk.
