25.01.2022 These are the books that I have read since being told to stay at home. Personally, I haven't found it a difficult time. It has allowed me to read those books that have been waiting for me by my bed and even books that I have had for some time and forgotten I had - like Graham Swift's The Light of Day. I love his writing and after reading his recent book Here We Are, I wanted more. Thankfully Gleebooks has re-opened and I can stock up again!

24.01.2022 Our Summer Reading Guide is out! Pop in and grab a copy. Loads of great books for Christmas.

20.01.2022 Don't forget to Zoom into this great interview on Tuesday 28th July!

18.01.2022 Come along to Logan Brae Orchard on Shipley Road in Blackheath on Sunday 11 April between 10am and 12 noon to meet Sophie Hansen, the author of the wonderful 'In Good Company' and 'A Basket by the Door'. Bring friends and family, grab an apple pie, a box of fresh apples and a copy or two of Sophie's books and settle in for a chat in the orchard. You will be in great company in one of the most beautiful spots in Blackheath. See you there.

18.01.2022 Some great upcoming events on Zoom! As well as our very own Blackheathen and environmentalist - Gregg Borschmann - in conversation with the wonderful Rebecca Huntley on the 28th July.

17.01.2022 Being a bookseller is a big responsibility. People will come in and ask for recommendations and hold on to your suggestion like you're some kind of life raft on the ocean of possible disappointment. That's why it is good to encourage readers to simply read what they want to read instead of what they feel they should read. Listen to where the heart pulls you and wait for the sound of a firm "yes'' inside when you hold a book in your hands. The heart is a great compass. With t...his in mind, I'm recommending two new releases available in our store. The first is Melissa Broder's book "Milk Fed". I came across Broder when I wasted 7 years of my life force on Twitter. She was a beacon of light in a sea of fools. She is a successful, brilliant poet who speaks of the carnage of relationships, the aversion to self development and the risk of feeling too much. She is insightful, irreverent and hilarious. The second is from a local Blue Mountains author, Trevor Shearston, "The Blue Caves". An enticing read that explores the growing relationship between an archeologist husband and wife team and her relationship with a young student as they work on a dig that gives evidence of indigenous farming practices. A relevant to these times prose-filled read for anyone wanting to live into another story world other than their own.

17.01.2022 Next weekend is Easter! And we have a huge book sale in the arcade which runs for the whole weekend. Heaps of bargains to be had!

15.01.2022 Vale Jack Mundey. Jack passed away last night aged 90. He was the leader of the Builders Labourers Federation and a legend in preserving historic Sydney. We had the pleasure of his company here in Blackheath in September 2016 when the book about Jack and his great work, written by James Colman - The House that Jack Built - was published.

13.01.2022 Joyce Kornblatt is a Blue Mountains writer and her novel - Mother Tongue - will be published later this month. Mother Tongue begins with a shocking discovery. In a powerful fiction that reads like a true story, the details of the crime and its aftermath unfold. The story had me captivated from the start and how she wove all the family histories of the main characters together was extraordinary. She wrote with such compassion and understanding that part of me wondered if som...e of it was a true story! Gleebooks will be hosting an event with Joyce in conversation with Leah Kaminsky - details are below. To book - please visit our website gleebooks.com.au Joyce Kornblatt Mother Tongue 14 October 2020 starting 6:30 pm In conversation with Dr. Leah Kaminsky Free. RSVP Essential for Zoom Link
