25.01.2022 When Glenbrook Cinema eventually re-opens, every second row will be closed and there will be a two seat gap between groups to allow for social distancing. The NSW Cinema Industry is thinking cinemas may be allowed to re-open from 2nd July, however this is still unknown. Cinemas in Victoria can re-open from 22nd June. Having said this, the commercial viability of cinemas is uncertain under the new operating guidelines combined with limited new movies currently scheduled for release in 2020.

20.01.2022 Looking ahead... Below are some examples of how seating may look when it is possible for Glenbrook Cinema to re-open again. We are currently working closely with our ticketing system provider to reconfigure ticket sales both online and at point-of-sale which blocks off every second row and enforces a 2 seat gap between groups. ... While the cinema industry is considering a re-opening date of 2 July 2020, the initial phase of STAGE 2 with a maximum of 20 people per auditorium does not appear feasible at this stage, however we will be considering all options. There are so many unknowns and the entire country is playing the wait and see what happens next game.

08.01.2022 Unfortunately we are still no clearer as to when Glenbrook Cinema will re-open. So much uncertainty with recent developments of COVID-19 combined with essential buiding repair works (roof replacement). Realistically we may not be in a position to re-open until December 2020. Hopefully Mulan will be coming soon to Glenbrook.

02.01.2022 When will Glenbrook Cinema Reopen? The NSW cinema industry will open July (edited). However, Glenbrook Cinema is not currently planning to open at this time.... Taking advantage of the building closure, preparation is currently underway by Blue Mountains City Council to replace the Theatres roof. The good news is that the leak above E Row will finally be repaired prior to re-opening. In addition, further minor works which are considered essential to accommodate new regulations may also be carried out, subject to approval. The time frame for these works is currently unknown. Cinema Capacity: With the lifting of 50 person limit in venues from 1 July (i.e. cafes, restaurants and pubs), putting this into perspective and still enforcing the one person per four square metres rule: Glenbrook Cinemas auditorium is approximately 15.6m x 10.5m =163.8 square metres from the back wall to the stage. Under these rules, Glenbrook Cinema could only accommodate a maximum of 40 people.
