25.01.2022 So here is the hypocrisy of Clive Palmer and the United Australia Party... They promote a policy of stopping agricultural land sales to foreign powers but hey... he wants to sue the WA PEOPLE because he was not allowed to sell his mine to China, and he wants to increase his wealth at least 10 fold in the process. And he is using Mark McGowan being strong on the WA border to keep WA safe as a bargaining (blackmail tool) He will drop the Border case if he can go ahead and stea...l $30billion from WA. The money he is trying to steal is the money that will be used to save WA during this pandemic and after. He is certainly putting WEST AUSTRALIANS last on his list, after money, money, money. #istandwithmarkmcgowan See more

23.01.2022 Fremantle business Bodhi Tree Surfboards provides the opportunity for people to build and shape their own surfboard, crafted from local timber. Owner Greg says ...it's an opportunity for people to be themselves and create something that never existed before. When it's shaped and glassed, the maker can test it in the surf at Leighton or Port Beach.

22.01.2022 Do not believe the logo (and now the lies) Watch Seaspiracy, the future depends on calling out these people and not buying these products.

20.01.2022 This time last week more than 100 Exmouth locals gathered at Qualing Pool to say NO to industrialisation at Exmouth Gulf. This is where Gascoyne Gateway wants t...o build a major deepwater port that would stretch about 1km out to sea. It's such a unique, fragile and diverse environment, where dugongs feed on seagrass, humpbacks nurse their calves and much more. It's also a popular beach for local families who love to swim and fish here. We need to look after Exmouth Gulf, Ningaloo’s nursery! See more

18.01.2022 Welcome to the second of my aerial photography prints from Cape Naturaliste in Western Australia. Ebb & Flow The swell of the Indian Ocean crashes against the rocky shore of Cape Naturaliste in Australia's south west in a never ending ebb and flow of liquid energy. The blue turquoise water rises in huge vertical slabs of power over and over again, each time slamming into the rocks and sand in a cascade of white water that sucks back out again on each receding flow. The powe...r of the Ocean is almost hypnotic to watch, on any given day it appears different with the factors of water clarity, light direction, tide and wind constantly changing but the one thing it remains, loosing oneself in the view it is always consistently calming to the soul. This is the first view, its not yet on the website, but this as well as "Emocean" and one more yet to come will be online soon.

17.01.2022 It is a beautiful sunny start to the weekend, so if your heading out like these guys, pop into Freo. My Gallery new hours for winter are Saturday and Sunday 10:30am - 3:30pm.

17.01.2022 "Emocean" Full frame... The power of the Ocean is absolute and uncompromising, it never ceases to flow and surge, even when seemingly calm. I could not help but think about the rhythm of these massive waves near Cape Naturaliste in Australia's South West and how similar it is to the constant concerns in our lives today.... We are continually inundated with wave after wave of change and emotion that can effect our lives and we can flow with that change or struggle to go against it. But as any surfer or ocean swimmer knows, you cannot fight the sea and must always compromise to its power, and sometimes, when you just learn to go with it completely, you end up in the best ride of your life. And occasionally, when in a tough situation, you just need to let those waves wash over you for a while, because if you wait long enough the lull will return, allowing you once again to get your breath back. 2020

14.01.2022 SUPPORT DIVE LOG With the support of divers, we can grow, provide a platform for divers to prosper with ideas and information. Tell your diving friends about us... and spread the word. It would be a crying shame to see such a great institution as Dive Log end. If you are in a club or dive group, let everyone know about the great reading inside Dive Log. For dive shops, Dive Log has great articles about dive travel, dive equipment, continuing diving education, underwater video, medicine and much more. It is a valuable resource that can help your business. Dive Log has a great team of quality contributors who write about every aspect of diving. Dive travel, education, wreck diving, night diving, marine life, underwater photography, videography, new dive equipment and more. Our contributors are a team of very enthusiastic, positive divers who are here to create reading pleasure for divers both here in Australia and overseas. I would like to encourage readers to make Dive Log their own platform to express views on their diving adventures. If you are a prospective dive journalist or have a story to tell, then send in a submission. If it is up to a good reading standard, we will publish it. In particular, we are looking for articles on dive medicine, cave diving and tech diving. Letters to the editor are always welcome. With the help of our wonderful Graphic Artist, Vikki, and our excellent team of Dive Journalists, I would like to continue to maintain Dive Log as one of the best dive magazines on the planet. Even improve on it! - regards Mike

09.01.2022 A wonderful news story among all the bad news out there.

08.01.2022 Welcome to my new print... "Emocean" It's been a tumultuous year, its felt like wave after wave of emotions and problems. Everyone has had to deal with issues, some more than others, but I hope we will soon be getting back to living better lives.... Louise and I took a few days down south to try and recharge and I spent some time enjoying aerials of the surf breaks around the capes. This is the first of my aerial work to be released and these will be separate to my limited edition underwater prints. Matted prints will be priced the same as my regular matted underwater prints however canvases will not be editioned and so will be priced at 60% of the standard price of a correspondingly sized limited edition underwater canvas. ie: A 2000mm x 820mm stretched canvas would be $1170 and a 1400mm x 550mm would be $780 (prices incl gst) Not yet on the website, contact me for details.

08.01.2022 WE ARE OPENING BACK UP!! Western Australia, we have done a wonderful job of managing the Covid-19 situation, we should all be proud. Along with the latest relaxing of restrictions from July on-wards, we will be opening up again as of this weekend, Saturday 4th of July.... Our new WINTER hours will be Saturday & Sunday 10:30am 3:30pm. And if its sunny and nice we will be open on Fridays as well, (but for Fridays we suggest over winter to check with us first just to make sure.) As the World gets back to normal, we will extend our hours back up to what they were. Hope to see you on the weekend!

08.01.2022 Dolphin phonations create complex patterns in the water inferring that these patterns can be manipulated, projected, and read by dolphins much as we would rea...d the visual patterns we see. Dolphin researcher Jack Kassewitz suggests this may be the key to dolphin language. This may or may not be the exact case, but there is no reason to believe that dolphins would not be able to sense and manipulate the deeper complexities of water-borne vibrations given that they have been communicating in this sound/water medium for 30 million years. Kassewitz and acoustics engineer John Stewart Reid have been projecting these dolphin sounds into a Cymascope a tool that helps visualize sounds in real time by the way that sound interacts with surfaces.

08.01.2022 The third of my South West Aerials, the first in a set of three Equilaterals... "South West Blues #1" Where the Southern and Indian Oceans intersect is a shoreline shaped by eons of wave power clashing with ancient rock. This is a place where the deep blue meets solid granite in a turmoil of energy and power. From the air it seems as if the Ocean is attempting to smother the rock furthermost from the shore almost as if attempting to push it deep underwater. But the rock stan...ds steadfast and resilient and the sea can only cascade back down resembling white straining fingers trying their hardest to keep the rock within its grasp. Finally the Ocean relents but only until the next wave crashes with a resounding percussion, submerging the rock once more. These are all the first of my aerial work to be released and these will be separate to my limited edition underwater prints. Matted prints will be priced the same as my regular matted underwater prints however canvases will not be editioned and so will be priced at 60% of the standard price of a correspondingly sized limited edition underwater canvas. ie: A 800mm x 800mm stretched canvas would be $534 and a 600mm x 600mm would be $414 (prices incl gst) Not yet on the website, contact me for details.

08.01.2022 Called in to Greg James Sculpture Studio Gallery at the J Shed to check out his latest sculpture currently in its very early stages. One of my absolute favourite underwater inhabitants... An Octopus, simply stunning, cannot wait to see it finished.

01.01.2022 This is MY absolute FAVOURITE dive up there!!! Have only done it a few times but it is MIND-BLOWING. And when you consider that much of the gulf used to look like this but it has been trawled into silt flats. I have talked to old seaweeds (fishermen) from up there that have told me of the "giant sponges and gorgonians with trunks as thick as your arm" that have have pulled up in their nets, it makes you cry. I will try and dig out some of my own old shots from up there and share them.
