25.01.2022 The F1 in schools competition was run at Fighter World this past Tuesday. Students from Year 10 iSTEM entered 7 cars and we are happy to announce that GTHS took out 3rd and 4th place and will be progressing to the state finals! One team also won an award for Best Engineered car. 24.01.2022 Today, in our last lesson with Year 12 Standard English, Mr Roberts and Ms Ward's class had the ultimate showdown. Students worked in groups to compete in revision trivia with The Three Stooges team taking out the gold. Well done to Kayla, Aimee and Riley!

23.01.2022 This week our student leader nominees presented a speech to the whole school via our online assembly. Today the whole school voted for our 2021 leadership team. A tough decision! Well done to all candidates as now they wait anxiously for the results.

22.01.2022 Year 10 students will be participating in Work Experience Term 4, Week 8 (30/11 to 4/12). Students received their packs on Friday, and need to contact employers to gain work experience. 13.01.2022 Students in our senior support class 'SE4' recently completed a practical measurement task in their home room. They used design and measurement skills to create themed picture windows that reflect their focus on transition to employment, and also the beautiful GTHS bird life. The students successfully communicated ideas and cooperated with each other to complete this unique team project. Well done SE4!

12.01.2022 This week 8 AVID English students have been preparing for their science fiction film study by revising their background knowledge of film techniques using collaborative brainstorming. They have also been creating interactive notebooks to support their understanding of science fiction conventions. Some excellent work has been completed by all students.

10.01.2022 On Friday Year Nine AVID participated in a Socratic Seminar where they discussed how the teen film genre has evolved over time to reflect teen issues. They all worked hard to prepare for this activity and there was some amazing discussions around this topic. Well done, Year Nine!

08.01.2022 Thursday 24th September A reminder for all students to wear bright colours. On the day of Harman Cup, students are encouraged to wear bright coloured clothes (enclosed footwear), cheer on Year 12 as they chase their dreams of defeating the staff in the annual soccer game and participate in the activities held throughout the day. ... Students are asked to donate a gold coin, which goes towards the Harman Scholarship. A scholarship provided to two Year 11 students each year to help them chase their dreams. The coin will be collected during roll call by the Student Representative Council.

08.01.2022 Year 7Art4 took part in a yearning circle today and talked about sustainability. It was wonderful to see them sharing their suggestions and they were very respectful of each other’s opinions.

Their Body Of Works will be exhibited next year-Eligh’s at Maitland Regional Art Gallery and Cooper’s at the Art Gallery of NSW. This is an outstanding achievement and GTHS is extremely proud of these students.

01.01.2022 7G PDHPE were treated this morning to a Zoom call from Mrs Emma Fisher, a paediatric dietitian from John Hunter Children's Hospital. Emma spoke with the class about healthy eating routines, such as having breakfast each day and some healthy alternatives to typical snacks for teenagers. The class had some great questions for Emma at the end of her presentation. Thank you Emma for donating your time!
