21.01.2022 We’re getting ready for the limited border opening on the 26th and additional staff is crucial to our COVIDSafe tea rooms. I’m very pleased to announce that Michael and Ruth have agreed to return as part of the team. For now, we’ll continue to only offer Devonshire teas and High teas between 10am and 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays.... We will also consider large group bookings on week days. Last Friday we had 23 guests from the Hobart Ionian Club and on Tuesday this week we had a large group of ladies from the Derwent Valley Probus for Devonshire teas.
20.01.2022 Weekly bonnet making sessions starting Monday
20.01.2022 We were a little sad with how quickly the Tasmanian travel vouchers ran out this morning. I guess we should have known that while $7.5 million sounds like a lot of money, if you divide it by $150 per person, fewer than 10% of Tasmanians would succeed in registering and at least 90% of Tasmanians, like us, would be left out. To cheer us and everyone else up, we're taking $100 (and breakfast) off Glen Derwent nightly rates for stays of 3 or more nights from now until the end ...of November. For breakfast you can either BYO & DIY or find some breakfast, brunch or lunch locally in the beautiful Derwent Valley. Book online now: https://apac.littlehotelier.com/properties/glenderwentdirect #makeyourselfathome #stayatglenderwent #derwentvalleytasmania #hobartandbeyond

09.01.2022 Today was the last of my ‘Roses from the Heart’ bonnet making sessions at Glen Derwent Tea Rooms and Accommodation, New Norfolk for 2020. I am so glad I decided... to hold these bonnet making gatherings in New Norfolk and thrilled that Liz Virtue so generously offered the Glen Derwent heritage homestead for our Monday ‘sewing sessions’. Depending on the Covid-19 situation we will be getting back together at Glen Derwent in 2021. There were five new attendees today and it was really lovely welcoming them. I have been running similar bonnet making sessions across the globe for years now. They are always enjoyable, enriching times with people producing beautiful tributes to our female convict forebears. I feel extremely fortunate having Liz and Rob Virtue offering their Glen Derwent premises as our venue. Liz Virtue looks after us all amazingly well as we stitch away creating these ‘Roses from the Heart’ bonnet treasures.
