The other ponios??? Got a visit from the 'Christmas Quad' straight after.... which travelled much faster than 'Christmas Jazz', and also came bearing gifts of Christmas brekky hay lol!!!

14.01.2022 Come for an early morning wander around the lesser seen side of Glenferrie Stud - the back paddocks and vineyards Keep an eye out for newcomers Ziggy, Levi and Corey in one of the back paddocks with AWESOME feed - they think they have gone to heaven with all that grass!!! With the mist laying over Kuitpo in the distance, and the roos watching us wander by peacefully, all adds up to a beautiful walk around the back of the property in the mornings!!
13.01.2022 How does your horse react when you go in the paddock, especially if you have a halter and lead rope over your shoulder? One of the most important aspects of training, with any horse - is that not only your time together while training is stress free, clear, concise, compassionate and biomechanically correct - but that you and your equine pal genuinely enjoy each others time, space and company together A horse that avoids you, makes an active attempt to not be ca...ught, or takes off at a gallop away from you when you let them go, is 'potentially' not 100% happy in your company This is not a full proof fact, as horses have different moods on different days just like us However if my horse was consistently and repeatedly attempting to avoid me, it would make me reassess my time with them - and ask questions like am I pushing them too hard?, am I clear enough with what I'm asking?, is my horse confused, scared, angry at what I am working on?, is my horse in pain?, does my horse's gear fit correctly?, are they sore, tired, lacking energy? etc, etc, etc Time with your horse is like a good friendship or partnership, it is always beneficial to reflect on what is working, and what you can do to potentially make it more beautiful And when your heart is in it, this won't be hard at all!! Here is Aisha (black mare) last night coming up to say hello, while I waited for her paddock companion Roze (chesnut mare) to come up and be caught. I had walked out with a halter over my shoulder, and the mounting block, as I intended to jump on Roze bareback for a bit as soon as I caught her It's clear in the video that Roze is the boss mare (the mare stare is on point lol!!), and both like to compete for my attention, however all I ask is they keep peace with each other while I'm in there, ie I'm boss, and they can sort out their own dynamics afterwards!!! So how does your horse react when you go in the paddock??
13.01.2022 Zoomies for Glenferrie puppa Izzy!!!! - you just can't beat dat Kelpie grin!!!!
12.01.2022 That time your mare did something that upset you...................vs................. ............. the many times you have apparently done something that has upset your mare!!!!!!! I'm seriously laughing so hard at this - I just ADORE my mares, but this video, and their 'vaults of many memories' is just so hilariously true!!!!
09.01.2022 'We don't expect the child to write his name the first day of school. As soon as he learns to sit down in class and listen to his teacher, he is not expected immediately to write his name.... ....but we expect immediate learning from a horse. We expect the horse to go from kindergarten, to eighth grade, to high school, to college without enough time, preparation, or consideration for his thoughts and feelings.... We often don't even get him into a learning frame-of-mind before we begin to train him. We don't often have him relaxed and confident, where he can sit down in class and just listen. We skip all that preparation because we are so superior, or neglectful, or lazy. Because we haven't prepared ourselves to recognise the horse's feelings' Ray Hunt
08.01.2022 Sunrise at Glenferrie!!! Just for fun - see if you can spot the 'strange' occurance in the majority of the photos at the back of the property?!!
06.01.2022 How bit pressure, and compression of the tongue, and hyoid affects horse's limb movement - incredibly important information for anyone riding with a bit
06.01.2022 Working Kelpie, aka Izzy the 'yelpie', working the feed trailer this morning at Glenferrie Stud, followed eagerly by Al, Bling, Gabby and Della!! Izzy takes her job here very seriously twice a day.....no-one ever break the news to her that the quad runs fine without her 'yelping' at it continuously lol lol!!!
04.01.2022 Happy hens Henny and Hiker, laying out like lizards in the sun!! The poor girls are looking a little worse for wear at the moment, being in the middle of a moult before winter - hopefully they hurry up and grow their feathers back before it gets too cold, brrrr!!!!!

02.01.2022 Expectation vs Reality!!! Merry Christmas from all at Glenferrie!! - we hope you all have a safe, happy and healthy festive season, and that all your dreams come true, no matter how much they may not want to fit down the chimney lol!!
01.01.2022 Harvest time before sunrise at Glenferrie Stud this morning!! While our property is best known for it's equestrian ventures, we also have two vineyards, and this morning it was time to harvest the Shiraz, with the Sauvignon Blanc being picked a little while ago!! It was another stunning foggy start to the day, and a beautiful view to watch the sun coming up through the fog over the forest, while the harvester meandered along the vineyard rows!!... Pretty stunning day out there now - enjoy!!
01.01.2022 Happy New Year from all at Glenferrie!!
