25.01.2022 On Saturday, all three grades played Imperials. A grade: After losing the toss, we were bowling first. The bowlers were bowling fantastic and continually got wickets, not allowing any big partnerships. Imps Innings came to an end in the 37th over, bowled out for 93. Cam Graham’s fantastic year continues, 4-22 off 8.2... Al Jenkin continued his good start to the year with the ball, 4-24 off 10. Going out to bat, we had 43 overs to see out the day. After losing Al to a brilliant delivery early, it was once again Sam Marks and Nathan Freitag that got the Innings going. Finishing the day 4-107. Sam Marks 46 Nathan Freitag 23 B grade: Batting first, we couldn’t build big partnerships, losing continuous wickets. A lot of the batsmen got starts but couldn’t make the big score we needed. Steve Henry controlled the Innings with a solid 31 and Brandon Mayberry a handy 21. Our Innings ending for a low 137. The bowlers had a bit of pressure on them with a low total, but they produced the goods. With 20 overs to bowl, Imps finished the day 3-45 with the game right in the balance to go either way. Andrew Winter 1-2 off five. Mitchell Sharp 1-2 off one. Brandon Mayberry 1-11 off three. C grade. Against a very experienced Imperials side, it was another great experience for our young team. Bowling first, it was a hard slog, with Luke Hegarty making a lovely hundred. The boys tried hard, Imps innings finishing at 8-269. Shane Bonacci the best of the bowlers, 3-48 off seven. The total was always going to be a tough ask. We spent a lot of time out in the middle and we faced our 40 overs, finishing 8-132. Ash Hodson a nice 59*. Jason Sands a handy 21.
24.01.2022 Our season continued on Saturday for both A and B grade against Imperials. A Grade... We were batting first on the new Catterick Crescent and once again Al Jenkin and Sam Marks got us off to the perfect start putting on 74 for the first wicket before Al was dismissed for a well made 49. From there, a lot of little partnerships were made with six of our batsman scoring 20 or more but no one going on to get a big score. We were bowled out on the final ball for a competitive 212. - Nathan Freitag 41. - Hamish Busk 34. Imps got off to a great start with the bat, but with 212 on the board we were always confident. Once Al Jenkin got the break through we were able to continually get wickets without another big partnership forming. The bowlers worked hard in the heat to bowl Imps out in the 45th over for 167. Al Jenkin finished with 3-44 from 10, Nathan Freitag and Frank Marks picked up two wickets each. B Grade Playing at home we were bowling first. Jay Francis was back in the team after injury and got the early breakthrough with the score on one. A little partnership was forming before we claimed the second wicket. We toiled hard and bowled really well to restrict Imperials to 9-157 after their 45 overs. - Brandon Mayberry 2-12 off nine. - Andrew Winter 2-12 off six. - Jay Francis 2-22 off seven. An early run out saw Ash Hodson dismissed for eight which wasn’t an ideal start and another wicket was lost soon after. Mitch Sharp and Steve Henry tried to steady the ship but Mitch was dismissed for a well made 35. After that we continued to lose wickets and were bowled out for 146 falling 11 runs short. Steve Henry was the last man out for 42.

21.01.2022 On Saturday, both A and B grade played Yarram and C grade unfortunately had to forfeit due to numbers. In A grade, we bowled first. We got off to a good start grabbing two early wickets until Yarram formed a big partnership. Yarram’s skipper, Ant Scott produced a fine hundred to take his team to a big total of 262 at the close of day one. It will be a big task for our batsmen but they have the belief to get the job done come this Saturday. Cam Graham, James Porter and Ham...ish Busk all took two wickets each. In B grade, we were batting first. Once again we couldn’t get that big partnership or big individual score to help us get to a big total. Brandon Francis was super, top scoring with 49. Jason Sands back in the side 24 and Jeremy Taylor 21 were the only batsmen to get to double figures. Getting bowled out after 59 overs for 142. Having 11 overs to bowl we were hopeful of taking a few wickets before the end of play. Yarram batted well and at the close of day one, they finished 1-48. Brandon Francis taking the wicket. We have a bit of work to do Saturday, but we are every chance of getting the job done.

12.01.2022 The results from yesterday’s games. In A grade, Nathan Freitag won the toss and we were batting first. Unfortunately that was the only thing that went right for the day. Wickets kept falling with no partnerships and we were bowled out for a miserly 53. Frank Marks finished with 18 not out. Going out to bowl, everything needed to go right. The bowlers tried hard but on a good pitch and no runs on the board, we were outplayed well and truely. Gormandale finishing 1-55.... Frank Marks 1-3 off four. In B grade, it was far better news. We were bowling first on a good pitch and the bowlers did their job. We got an early run out and off to a great start. Gormandale started to build a good partnership but the boys responded and bowled the Tigers out for a good score of 162. Gaz Williams was fantastic with figures of 3-17 off nine and Shane Adams 3-31 off eight. We got off to a steady start with the bat, and partnerships kept coming with all the batsman getting into double figures. In a nail biting game, the boys got the job done with two balls to spare. Jeremy Taylor a lovely 39, and Shane Adams topped off a superb game with 28 not out. In C grade, fielding a very young side, things didn’t go too well. Young Ado Wright was in charge and we were bowling first. They tried hard and Gormandale finished their innings 6-174. Shane Bonacci bowled well with 2-17 off eight and young Hayden Dwyer finished with 2-28 off eight. The young fellas got a good experience with the bat, and we were bowled out for 54. Young Gun, Dan McDonagh topped scored with 8 not out.
