17.01.2022 Glenhaven Carols Announcement Word just in from the Carols Committee ‘Unfortunately due to the ongoing Covid 19 restrictions, the Glenhaven Carols by Candlelight Committee have made the difficult decision to cancel this years Carols event.... This year would have been the 20th year of the carols and certainly another one that the community would have enjoyed. To be able to adhere to the current government restrictions, the event would have needed to be significantly smaller, perhaps even a ticketed event which would have meant some people missed out. Restricting numbers to the Glenhaven Carols by Candlelight is something the Carols Committee couldn’t do as the carols is and always will be for the benefit of the whole community. The committee are working on an alternate Christmas surprise which will hopefully be announced next week. We sincerely apologise for this and realise that it will come with great sadness for many of those in the Glenhaven Community who look forward to this event year after year. We look forward to seeing you again next year!’

Although Ivans son aint quite old enough to join us yet, he sure fits the part will all his gear!

Grass fires will pose a risk in NSW this fire season so make sure you have a cleared area around your home. Learn the 5 simple actions to prepare your property at myfireplan.com.au

06.01.2022 On this day thirty-eight years ago, three (3) volunteers of Heathcote Brigade tragically lost their lives as a result of a bush fire burning in the Royal Nation...al Park. It was Sunday 9th January 1983, just after 9am when local firefighters were alerted to a bush fire in the Royal National Park, near the Princes Highway, between Loftus and Sutherland. Later that afternoon the fire crossed a creek below Greenhaven Road at Grays Point burning upslope towards an area known as Anana Hill. It was at this location where three (3) firefighters sadly lost their lives, with six (6) other firefighters were seriously injured. The fire was contained a number of days later burning 337 hectares of the Royal National Park. Today marks the anniversary when three firefighters from Heathcote Brigade, Keith Campbell, Thomas Bielecke and Gregory Moon made the ultimate sacrifice by so selflessly protecting the Sutherland Shire. Today we remember the three who were lost, the six injured, and those who were impacted by this tragic event.

A large flag, 5.5 metres by ...11 metres, was flown over the dome of the Exhibition Building in Melbourne. 01.01.2022 As we prepare to farewell 2020, we wanted to share the story of one of the many people who this time last year were facing terrible fires. Jim, who lives at Bat...emans Bay on the south coast, lost his home in the fires on New Year's Eve. You may have seen him sharing his story in our TV commercials, so others can learn from his experience. After the fires, he wrote poems to help his recovery. Jim says he and his mates didn't dare to use the words 'Happy New Year' last December. This New Year's Eve, our thoughts are with Jim and all the people impacted by the fires who are continuing with their recovery. Remember - help is available.
