23.01.2022 Glen Innes Show 2021 Report What a successful show it was for Glen Innes High School Agriculture. The school participated in the commercial cattle section, junior judging and stud cattle this year. 36 students were involved over 2 days and results are as follows:... Junior Judging Grain judging GIHS scooped the pool with Edith Newbury in 3rd Alistia Kneipp in 2nd and Daniel Alt in 1st. British Breed Sheep Judging- Dylan Chaffey placed 1st Merino Sheep Judging -Wade Grennan placed 1st Beef Cattle Judging - Hannah Dunn placed 1st Many of our students made finals and were required to speak on the microphone which was very pleasing to see. Stud cattle- for the first time in a long time GIHS were involved in showing stud cattle at Glen Innes Show thanks to a partnership with the Winter Family from Winter Speckle Parks. This saw 2 8.5-9 month old heifers come to the school to be broken in and prepared for the show. Winter Rumer placed third in her class in the interbreed heifer show on Friday evening and Winter Ruby placed second meaning she was in contention for reserve champion interbreed heifer. On Saturday, these heifers were again judged in their breed classes with Rumer being sashed reserve champion junior heifer and Ruby being sashed champion junior female and grand champion female for the Speckle Park breed. The heifers were then taken into the main ring for the grand parade on Saturday. Thank you to the paraders of these heifer Charlie Easterbrook Hannah Dunn Jessica Wirth and Alyssa Dorward and all of the students who assisted with preparing the heifers and caring for Hokey and Penny and their calves Tuxedo and Holly over the weekend. Hokey and Tuxedo as well as Penny and Holly were taken over to compete in the commercial cattle section as heifers and first calves. While unsuccessful the calves were certainly popular. Congratulations to all students who attended over the 2 days. It was a pleasure having you attend. Thank you. Ms Lamph and Mr Miller.

09.01.2022 Last weekend 4 students accompanied by Mr Miller and myself attended Armidale Show with 9 month old heifers Winter Ruby Soraya and Winter Rumer from the Winter Family’s Winter Speckle Park Stud. We had a successful day in the ring with Rumer getting second in her class and Ruby getting junior and grand champion Speckle Park female. The pair then went on to win champion pair of heifers in interbreed. Ruby was then reserve champion interbreed calf under 12 months and was pulle...d out in the top 3 with 2 other cow/calf pairs for supreme female of the Armidale Show. The students also had the opportunity to compete in the paraders competition. Thank you to Alyssa Dorward, Jessica Wirth, Mitchell Davidson and Toby Lamph for all your hard work over the weekend and your dedication and skill you displayed over the 2 days in preparing and parading Ruby and Rumer. Thank you also to John and Bev Winter for entrusting GIHS with your stud heifers and giving students valuable opportunities to participate in stud cattle judging. We appreciate the time and effort you put into producing these heifers and are grateful for the opportunity to present them for you. Beautiful heifers that are a credit to your stud and the breed. Ms Lamph.
