18.01.2022 The count down is on with only 5 weeks until pony camp it’s time to start getting our horses ready for a long hot week of work. With the season being lush we may not have been feeding our horses to avoid a sudden change in feed & increased workload resulting in colic or other health issues now is the perfect time to start making some changes to prepare your horse for camp. If your not sure how to do this please contact our senior instructor Codie Law or your Vet ...for advice. The horse is first and foremost a grazing animal that relies extensively on the bacteria present in its gastrointestinal tract to be able to process forages. These bacteria are a mix of different organisms that work together to the benefit of the horse. If the feeding program is changed suddenly, bacteria populations do not have time to adjust. Instead, large numbers of bacteria die, while others flourish, setting up a situation where toxins may be absorbed by the horse, resulting in digestive upset or colic. Some horses are just as sensitive to changes in hay as they are to changes in grains. A gradual change from one feedstuff to another provides enough time for the bacterial populations to adjust. For example, when changing either the type of hay or grain that is being fed, replace only about 20 percent to 25 percent of the current feed every other day, so that it takes a week or more for a complete change. #gleninnesponyclub #horsehealth #ponycamp See more

12.01.2022 The Transported Stock Statement (TSS) system was introduced in 1990 partly to assist NSW Police Force to trace stolen stock. You are required to carry a TSS in ...various circumstances including transporting your horse to a private facility for recreational riding or lessons. Police Operation Stock Check commenced on the 4th of August 2020 resulting in increased monitoring of transported horses. Be prepared, you are likely to be pulled over and asked by the NSW Police for a TSS for the horse you may be moving. If you do not have a TSS with you or your horse does not meet any of the exemptions, you may be fined. 11.01.2022 From Saturday 26 September, interregional community sporting competitions can recommence without restricting these activities to regions or zones, where there i...s a COVID19 Safety Plan for the community sporting activity in place. The advice provided in August regarding limiting spectators to one parent per child, and inter-region sport and recreation activities has been removed, however organisations must still ensure their activity is delivered in compliance with the Public Health Order and the COVID-19 Safety Plan requirements. This includes the requirement to adhere to the 500-person limit for community sport activities (including participants, officials and spectators) and adhering to the one person per four square metre rule. Organisations and spectators must also ensure that physical distancing of at least 1.5 metres is maintained between people that do not come from the same household. If this is unable to be achieved wearing a mask is recommended. Clubs are instructed to update their risk assessments with this new advice.
