25.01.2022 I have received a number of enquires in recent weeks asking whether or not we would be holding an Open Shoot in September. At this point, this would seem highly unlikely due to current COVID-19 guidelines. Whilst it would be possible to meet most of the existing social distancing guidelines on our ranges by running additional details in most matches, it would be almost impossible to meet all guidelines in the Club house such as constant cleaning of all surfaces after each use..., the additional requirements for food service and (on present guidelines) the highly restricted numbers we could accept for the Saturday night dinner. The border restrictions on entering Queensland could also make it difficult for our Northern neighbours to attend and return home should those restrictions still exist in September. A final decision will be made by the Club Committee within the next few weeks and an email will then be sent to all those persons we normally email entry forms too

25.01.2022 Preparations are now almost complete for our first Open Shoot in 2021. Thanks to the efforts of a group of members over the past 3 weeks, ranges are all mowed and cleaned, all the surrounding area is also mowed and cleaned, the Club House cleaned with just the final touches to be applied on Friday and our COVID plan put in place. After a minor hiccup, squadding was emailed to all entrants yesterday. Thank you to everyone who emailed back to confirm receipt of their emailed s...quadding. Air Pistol target packs are labelled and all score cards and Range lists will be labelled or printed today. A total of 49 Athletes have entered to contest 180 matches. This weekend is shaping up to the biggest ISSF Open held by the Club since relocating to the present site in the early 1980’s. See more

25.01.2022 Disappointing but not unexpected to travel over to Glen Innes this morning to open up the club facilities and sit there for 2 1/2 hours with no one turning up until I was about to leave about 1.30 pm. That member only came out to see who may have been there and to have a talk. The heat and dense smoke made conditions very unpleasant. Was only thinking while I was there that while we have the catastrophic fire conditions and total fire ban, we probably should not be shooting a...nyway- particularly Black Powder matches - for fear of starting a fire in the tinder dry bush surrounding the facility. I understand from an advice I received last night that the Forestry Commission has requested that Coffs Harbour Pistol Club (which is surrounded by State Forests) do not shoot any live fire matches until weather conditions improve. Ranges are now closed at Glen Innes Pistol Club for the Christmas/New Year break with competition scheduled to recommence on 4/1/2020 See more

22.01.2022 It has been a busy day, nearly have got the slices done. Once we have finished eating dinner we will get breakfast ready.

22.01.2022 GOOD NEWS Following a discussion between Committee and a number of members yesterday, it has been decided to hold our 2021 February Open which had been tentatively scheduled to be held on 19, 20 & 21st February, 2021. Those dates are now confirmed. With COVID-19 restrictions being wound back, we are confident that we can be totally compliant with all conditions existing after the most recent relaxation of restrictions - both on the ranges and whilst catering for meals.... An Entry form will be now be prepared and emailed to our normal list of recipients, placed on the Club’s website and forwarded to NSW Amateur Pistol Association for inclusion on the State Association website.

17.01.2022 The club hired a small excavator last weekend and undertook the earthworks needed to correct issues raised on Ranges 1 and 2 during our last Range Inspection. Lead in the bullet impact zones was removed and the area reshaped to reduce any possibility of a ricochet leaving the range. The erosion in the side wall on range 1 was corrected by reshaping and dressing the entire length of the wall. We also started the minor works needed on our Range 3 to address two small issues on that range with another 1/2 day of work required to complete that work and have all issues raised during the inspection corrected on the Pistol Ranges. Ranges 1 and 2 and the Air Range are now ready to recommence shooting once the NSW Health Department removes or modifies Covid19 restrictions on Pistol Ranges.

16.01.2022 Another small attendance yesterday in well above average temperatures for this time of the year. It was interesting to note that the additional expense to insulate the roof and walls of the air range when completing the building upgrade a few months ago was well worth the expense. The temperature in the air range yesterday was quite noticeably cooler than any where else at the complex including the club house. This bodes well for competitors at our February Open where it is traditionally hot. Scores from yesterday are now on the Club’s web page. Matches of the day next Saturday are 25 m BlackPowder and Rapid Fire with the Air Range obviously available to members wishing to contest an Air Match.

16.01.2022 Another good attendance on Saturday with some vital maintenance completed, a Black Powder match, Air Pistol Matches and a new member joining the Club from a non PA club and starting to learn the PA matches. All in all, a good day. Scores are now on the Club’s webpage. Next weekend is the final competition day for 2020 with Centre Fire/Sport Pistol being the matches of the day commencing at 1 pm.

15.01.2022 We had fun, someone shot well.

15.01.2022 Five members attended the club today for the Centre Fire/sport pistol match which ended up having to be abandoned with 15 shots remaining as a result of a blackout as a storm from the South hit the region. It was clear that power was not going to be restored in the short term so ammunition was saved, the match abandoned and everyone left for home as the rain set in. Scores, for what they are, will be added to the club webpage within the next 24 hours

14.01.2022 Thanks Adam for your support to gain this Grant

13.01.2022 The calendar says that we have a working bee this weekend, this is normally done due to the next weekend being the September Open. The September Open has been canceled due to COVID-19. We feel that it is still important to have a working bee this weekend to complete a number of jobs, so your help would be appreciated. We were going to have a working bee starting at 10 am and then shoot a Centre Fire/Sports and/or Air Pistol match after Lunch. ... All assistance would be appreciated, thanks.

13.01.2022 Second last weekend of competition at the club before closing for the Christmas New Year break. Michelle, Dick and Bruce contested an Air Pistol Match with Michelle proving that her recent break to C grade was no splash in the pan and Dick improving on his previous best score by 42 points while Bruce shot to his usual high standard. After Lunch, Bob and new member Daniel contested a 25 metre Black Powder Match (Daniels’s first ever 25 metre match) with Wayne as Range Offi...cer. Scores will be added to the Club’s webpage. Our final competition day for the year will be next Saturday with Centre Fire/Sports Pistol being the matches of the day. The club will then close for the 2019 year and re-open for Competition on 4/1/2020 with Standard Pistol being the Match of the Day. On behalf of the Club Committee, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our members and their families as well as our many friends of the Club and all their families a Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous new Year See more

13.01.2022 Scores for the last two weeks have now been updated on the club’s website. Kim recorded close to a Personal Best in Rapid Fire on 10/10/20. Michelle contested Sport Pistol and surprised herself by topping the score sheets beating the gentlemen shooting Sport Pistol and comfortably breaking into C grade for the match. We will again be contesting Centre Fire/Sport Pistol next Saturday commencing at 1pm.

12.01.2022 AGM is going to be held at the Pistol Club this weekend, 8th August 2020. Shoot first then the meeting starts at 2.30pm. Please check your emails, will have sent out as much as possible re-meeting, to cover safety regulations (limited paper). Due to a number of older members I recommend you bring you own writing implements, masks, when entering select a place to sit making sure it is 1.5m apart from the person next to you. Make sure you use the hand sanitizer and sign in. Looking forward to seeing you soon.

11.01.2022 A very slow return to shooting yesterday with only five members in attendance braving the very cold conditions. The temperature ranged from 5 degrees at 10 am and peaked at about 7 degrees at about 1 pm. The cold wind kept the feels like temperature to less than 2 degrees. Bob, Ian and Trevor contested a Standard Pistol Match while Bruce undertook Air Pistol practice and Wayne acted at Range Officer. Scores will be added to the Club website later today. Rapid Fire and Black Powder are matches of the day next Saturday

11.01.2022 Was a little cool in Glen Innes, perfect weather to be in the air range.

09.01.2022 A very strong attendance at the Club last Saturday with almost 50% of the membership turning out for the Annual General Meeting - something that has not occurred for several years. Only a few minor changes to the Committee occurred with 3 new Committee Persons elected and, apart from a new Vice Captain, the executive Committee remains unchanged for another year. Before the meeting, a number of members contested a Standard Pistol Match, an Air Pistol Match and two others fired a partial air match and a partial Sport Pistol Precision as practice. Scores for the matches contested will be updated on the web page shortly. Match of the day next Saturday is Centre Fire/ Sport Pistol commencing at 1 pm. Hopefully, we will see another strong attendance for this popular match

09.01.2022 After a number of weeks with very low attendances, largely due to the cold weather, six members attended the Club on Saturday with 3 contesting a Standard Pistol Match, two contesting an Air Pistol Match and one acting as Range Officer. As the weather warms up, it is hoped we will see better attendances each week. The website has not been updated with scores etc for quite some weeks due to a number of reasons but I expect to now have that all updated today.

08.01.2022 Working Bee this weekend plus a quick general meeting at 1pm.

08.01.2022 Weather conditions were again not all that pleasant for shooting on an outdoor range on Saturday with light drizzle falling most of the day resulting in only six members attending-although part of the low attendances can be put down to uncertainty surrounding Covid19 restrictions. The fully enclosed Air Range became the Range of Choice for the day with five members contesting an air match, with varying degrees of success, while one member again acted as Range Officer. Scores for the day will be added to the Club’s webpages later today. Match of the day next Saturday will be Centre Fire/Sports Pistol commencing at 1 pm.

08.01.2022 The February Open run last weekend was a great success. The consistent and at times heavy rain in the lead up to the event certainly caused some issues getting facilities ready (but no one complained about the much needed rain - the first really decent rain for over 2 years) but we had a nice fine weekend while the event was run. It was pleasing to see so many new faces join us from all points of the compass with three new visitors travelling up from Sydney. It was also plea...sing to see that entries for Air Pistol were only one less than the total entries received. I have been a little busy this week but will add the scores to the Blog on the Club’s webpage in the next day or so. Thanks to Jean-Marie and Valérie, I have also received a file with some 70 wonderful photos from the weekend and will add these to the webpage at the first opportunity after I have removed any image of several people that have requested that their images not be displayed. To all members and visitors alike, thank you for all your help in the lead up and during the event making the weekend so successful See more

07.01.2022 A better turnout yesterday with an Air match, a practice Air match, six Rapid Fire, one Centre Fire and three 25 m black powder matches contested in the day. Although windy, conditions were much more pleasant than to shoot in than several of the previous weeks. Scores will be added to the Club webpage later today. Match of the day next Saturday will be Centre Fire.sport pistol commencing at 1 pm. We hope to see another strong turnout for this popular match.

07.01.2022 Sorry to announce.. we have been effected by the COVID-19 rules. "It was advided that all non-essential sports must now cease," Geoff Lee. NSW Office of Sport, and acting Minister of Sport. That includes us.... If you are concerned about the amount of shoots you have had so far, submissions have been made, alterations to the Firearms Regulation have gone to the ministerial level. Will keep you up date as to any changes. Thanks for all support. Keep safe.

05.01.2022 Tremendous day at the club today with 19 members in attendance for an Extraordinary General Meeting to adopt a new Constitution for the Club prepared from a draft provided by NSW APA. A quorum of members was present at the meeting and the resolution adopting the new constitution was passed unanimously. Seven members contested a Sport Pistol match at 10 am while four contested an Air Pistol match. After a Lunch provided by the club and the meeting, eight members contested a ...Standard Pistol Match with another four contesting an Air Pistol match. While there was no Grade breaks recorded, it would be a fair assumption that all present enjoyed the day. Scores will be updated on the Club website tomorrow See more

05.01.2022 Working Bee today... all went well.... then it rained...20ml.

03.01.2022 The coolest place on the club facility today was in the revamped Air Range even there it became very hot in the later afternoon. If this heatwave continues, a couple of fans will need to be installed before the February Open. Air Pistol became the match of the day with Trevor, Dick and Michelle contesting a full match, Bruce shooting a practice half Match and Wayne acting as Range Officer. Both Dick and Michelle again returned a Personal Best score with Michelle comfortably ...now returning C Grade scores. We also had a visit from a new to Glen Innes resident to enquire about joining the club and seems keen enough to proceed. Matches of the day next Saturday are Standard Pistol and 25 m Black Powder commencing at 1 pm. Hopefully the weather will be much kinder and considerably cooler See more

03.01.2022 Due to the ongoing COVID-19 virus issue, it is now necessary to suspend all training sessions under a P650 form at Glen Innes Pistol Club. By law, Trainers conducting this course at any Pistol Club must be positioned to take control of firearms at all times with an unlicensed Trainee, which would contravene the current social distancing guidelines. The safety and health of trainers, members and visitors must always be our focus and highest priority. We will review this suspen...sion of training when conditions improve. This suspension also includes the conduct of the Firearms Safety Awareness Course for Category A and B firearms licences conducted at the Club. THE CLUB IS NOT CLOSED. I REPEAT THE CLUB IS NOT CLOSED.!!!!!!!!!!! I CANNOT BE MORE SPECIFIC THAN THAT. WE WILL OPERATE NORMALLY EACH SATURDAY WITH MATCHES LISTED IN THE CALENDAR CONTESTED EACH WEEK. THE ONLY CHANGE TO OUR OPERATION IS THE SUSPENSION OF TRAINING COURSES AS SET OUT IN THE ORIGINAL POST ABOVE.

02.01.2022 ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING SEPTEMBER 2020 OPEN. After much discussion within the Club Committee over recent days, we have reluctantly decided to cancel our Open Shoot in September this year due to the ongoing Covid19 Pandemic, the fact that many who would attend are in the high risk age group and, the conditions imposed for indoor gatherings and food service make it impractical to properly cater for the event to our normal standard. Hopefully, conditions imposed by NSW Health will be significantly relaxed over coming months and we will be in a position to host an Open event in February 2021.

01.01.2022 Yesterday marked the last Competition day for 2020 with Air Pistol and Sport Pistol. Two members contested two Air Pistol Matches and a Sport Pistol Match in the day with Dick recording a new Personal Best in Air Pistol, Michelle just under a PB in Sport Pistol and Jason and Charles recording PB’s in Men’s Sport Pistol. There is now a 2 week recess for Competition. We will recommence on 9/1/2021 with Rapid Fire and 25 metre Black Powder and, of course, the Air Range is avail...able each competition day for any member wishing to contest that match. Scores from yesterday will be added to the Club website later today As 2020 draws to a close, we wish all our members and friends a merry Christmas and a happy, healthy new year and hope to see many of you at our February 2021 Open Shoot on 19,20 & 21st February.
