23.01.2022 Another one for your BUCKET LIST ~ Castle Head, Katoomba. This walk was re-opened by NPWS this week. It is a MUST DO WALK. We did it walk today, a beautiful win...ter mountains day. TIP: The area this walk goes through was devastated by the recent fires, so when you do the walk, dont dwell on the fire damage, rejoice in the amazing transformation that is happening before our eyes, and come back again. DIRECTIONS: http://lnnk.in/@Castle-Head-Katoomba 360 VR vision: https://www.askroz.com.au/blog/castle-head/ Distance: 5km return Time: 2.5 hours + Kid-friendly: Yes, with supervision in paces Dogs: No Steps: There are plenty, but nothing shocking Accessible: No Would we do it again: In a heartbeat! START: At the locked gate carpark on Narrow Neck. The road along Narrow Neck is getting worse, ordinary cars can do it, just take it easy. The carpark is about 2km along Narrow Neck. From the carpark, head down past the locked gate for about 1km to the Castle Head sign, on the left. Follow the well-identified track out to Castle Head. There are a few wonderful elevated spots along the way that give amazing views. Take care of kids there, the first step is a big one. BIG NEWS: At one of the amazing lookouts experienced a large eagle gliding just below the cliff edge twice, it was AWESOME :) The last time we saw this was on a Wentworth Falls walk with Grahame Edwards and Lyn. When you get to the Cairn at the highest point, continue one for about 50m to a wonderful spot for morning tea/lunch. TREAT: If you do the walk on a Saturday or Sunday, there is a good chance the will be an Icecream Van at the Katoomba Cascades carpark. 17.01.2022 Maximum Guest Numbers We've reached out to our upcoming guests who are impacted by the changes up until mid-January. We wanted to let you all know that we're currently only able to accept bookings of up to 10 people for Glen Isla. In case you missed it, here is our email to our guests: By now you may have heard the latest announcement from the NSW Premier regarding COVID-19 restrictions. The information we have is that a maximum of 10 people (including adults and children...) are permitted in holiday homes unless everyone is from the same household. As you have an upcoming booking with us for more than 10 people, we wanted to get in touch to let you know the options available to you: 1. Reschedule your stay. You are welcome to reschedule your stay to another date in the future. You would receive a credit for the amount paid for your stay (minus any commissions or fees paid to third party websites such as HomeAway, AirBnb etc) which you can elect to use at any date in the future. 2. Reduce numbers You can elect to reduce your numbers to a maximum of 10 people with the additional guests either choosing not to travel or to stay at another venue in the Blue Mountains. Please be advised that you will still not be able to have the extra people visit and congregate at Glen Isla - the maximum number of persons allowed on site at any time is 10 people. If you choose to reduce number you will of course receive a refund for the extra guests who will not be staying. 3. Elect to receive a refund We understand that for some of our guests the first two options aren't possible. In these cases we are able to give you a refund. Please note that the amount refunded will exclude any fees or charges deducted by third parties such as commissions to Airbnb etc or credit card fees. We do ask that if you are able, that you do consider choosing to reschedule or reduce your guest numbers where possible to limit the impact of the loss of income to our business, and to our staff and other local businesses who we employ. Please advise us as soon as possible what you would like to do and we will work with you for the best outcome to this situation. It was named in 188...2 and was also known as Mermaids Glen. It is accessible by a short walking trail from the Megalong Valley road. The steps in are a work of art? Distance: 200m return Kid-safe: Yes, with supervision Dogs on-leash: No Steps: Many of them Accessible: No Heights: No high cliff areas Mermaids Cave became famous after being used as a location for the film Mad Max - Beyond Thunderdome.
