25.01.2022 We have been contacted by the Ringwood Highland Games to inform us that they are moving all competitions to October. So the tournaments will still run across pipes, heavy and light games. Just in 7 months.

15.01.2022 IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE NATIONAL CELTIC FOLK FESTIVAL COMMITTEE AND TEAM: In light of updates from the Australia Government and global actions regarding containing the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), it is with deep regret that we have made the very difficult decision to cancel this year’s Festival and hold off our 18th celebrations until next year. Our hope is that our 2021 festival will include many from this year’s fabulous line-up and participants and bring you the... exciting plans we had for this year. The great amount work and planning put into this year’s festival will continue and we will make 2021 a great celebration. We have not taken this decision lightly, but after consulting partners, stakeholders, health professionals and our festival community - the health and wellbeing of our communities and festival visitors must be our priority. The situation is changing daily and we feel it is easier to take a decision now rather than being forced to do so very close to our event. We are very aware of the impact of this health crisis on the entertainment/event/arts industry worldwide and we will be proactive in doing all that we can to support these industries as soon as possible. We will be communicating with all ticket holders to organise refunds or transfers to use at next year’s festival. This may take 5-10 business days to process and we kindly request your patience whilst we work through everything and everyone. These are uncharted waters and we will be doing our best to make these processes as smooth as possible. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and disappointment caused by the cancellation of the 2020 National Celtic Festival. Thank you for understanding at this incredibly challenging time. We wish you and your community good health and look forward to welcoming you back in 2021, and possibly bringing you some ‘warm up’ events as soon as we can. Please Stay Safe - we will be back in touch soon from all of us at NATIONAL CELTIC FOLK FESTIVAL

09.01.2022 Training is still on! With currently global concerns regarding COVID-19 we at GLECA have decided to adjust the way we approach training. While many of us are healthy, this might not be the case with our loved ones and we would rather not have anyone at GLECA be a vector to someone vulnerable. On this basis we need to self-regulate our approach to classes.... 1. If you find yourself with a fever, please let us know asap. Please also self isolate and follow all current medical advice on what to do. Since people are contagious for around a week before symptoms this is problematic for what we do, so we need to know as soon as possible. 2. If there is a suspected case, we may be suspending classes for a designated period of at least 2 weeks. Depending on previous attendance. This might change if testing is negative, but unlikely. The health of our members and your families are paramount, and GLECA will still be there when this is over. This page will update as things change. Training details are as follows: 1800-2130 Drill Hall, Multicultural Hub 26 Therry st Melbourne Near Queen Vic Markets. Please bring towel and a drink bottle. As we say. Your safety is my responsibility.

05.01.2022 GLECA has decided to suspend training. This is now inline with government advice for all community sports, non-essential indoor gatherings and travel. What happens now? The Senior Team of GLECA will regularly discuss any and all update of advice from the government, however for a minimum of at least 2 weeks, there will be no training and all social gatherings will be restricted to online only. What does this mean for the future? This is the perfect time to continue solo train...ing and working on your basic cuts, footwork, flows and fitness. We suggest that you should still engage and talk with students and instructors about any questions or training tips on how you can keep your skills in shape for when training resumes. We would also like to remind everyone that good hygiene is the most effective way to protect yourself from the virus and ( if you haven't already) cleaning your personal kit and training tools now would be a great way to pass the time. Your safety is our responsibility. GLECA Team.

03.01.2022 Remember that time that GLECA was invited to preset at a Sports Expo? Here is a reminder to help lift your spirits during these times. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEreabzNZ00
