25.01.2022 'I might just plonk myself here'. Why not. : Francis Dumouchel
25.01.2022 Pony Club is all about experiencing and growing many skills within ourselves and with our horses. So it was fantastic to see one of our riders participating in a more new horse sports activity in the recent Tetrathlon. Darcy and Flori competed in the tetrathlon in early November and are training for state in December. We are very excited and proud to see Darcy expanding from the more traditional pony club activities and really applying themselves. Awesome work guys!!! Cannot wait to hear all about the experience Thanks to PCV and CZ for creating events and activities for riders.

19.01.2022 New research shows that when training horses, rewarding good behaviour gets better results than punishing wrong conduct. In the September issue of Equestrian L...ife magazine, Dr Kerry Mack takes a closer look at training via positive reinforcement and explains how animal behaviour consultants agree that it should be the foundation of teaching... 17.01.2022 I was scared today. I was scared to get on, scared to walk out the yard because I had a bad ride the day before. One bad ride, and it made me scared. I didn’t... know why. I’ve had 1000 bad rides. I’ve had 1000 falls. I’ve broken bones and bruised my pride on countless occasions, but today I was scared. Why? Because confidence is fragile. It takes months and years to build and seconds to lose and yet we are so careless with it. When we get on a horse, we wear a hat to protect our head. We wear body protectors, gloves, boots... We pay so much attention to protecting ourselves physically, we forget that our minds are not invincible, and our confidence certainly is not. Your bank of confidence needs regular deposits, not just from others... but from you. Self confidence is the most valuable currency in life. When you go to get on, and you hesitate, you falter and you start to ask yourself can I do this?, chances are, your account is almost empty. Every time you laugh and say oh no, I’m no good or so and so is 10x better than me, you make a withdrawal from that account, and before you know it, your account is empty and you’re scared to get on. But every time you say I’m really pleased with how that went or I think I rode that really well, your balance increases. We need to learn to give ourselves a break, pat ourselves on the back and allow ourselves to feel proud of where we are - after all, most of the time we’ve worked bloody hard to get there! Recognising your strengths is just as important as recognising your weaknesses. Never allow yourself or anyone else to empty that account. Confidence is valuable, don’t bankrupt yourself.

06.01.2022 Prince Phillip Tribute Video In 1957 this amazing man, The Duke of Edinburgh approached the Director of Horse of the Year Show Sir Mike Ansell and asked if he... could create a competition for children who could not afford an expensive & well bred pony. And in the very same year in 1957 at The Horse of the Year Show, at Harringay Arena in North London, England, they performed the first EVER Mounted Games Championship for the Prince Philip Cup and it was an immediate success. As he states in this video, he believes in kids having their own experiences that can help them grow as a person. He doesn’t believe in having a certain image. Just be you, enjoy doing what you do whatever your circumstances are & have fun. This was the beginning journey for the sport Mounted Games. Since 1957, this sport has flourished. Along this timeline until now lots of influential people have contributed their efforts and time into this sport. Created more and more associations and It is now a globally recognised & played equestrian sport by thousands of kids & adults. From Australia to South Africa, Mexico to Scotland it’s played almost everywhere! And still growing... He always watched the progression of the sport at Horse of the Year Show & The Royal Windsor Horse Show every year. Sometimes even handing out the trophy & rosettes himself, meeting new riders & ponies every year. This sport has allowed people to experience not just having new friends from across the world, but joining an equestrian community that is closer to a family than any other discipline or sport. It’s all because of this amazing man. I’m sure we speak on behalf of every single rider, parent, trainer or supporter when we say, You’ve given us all memories that will last forever, given us friends that we can’t imagine our lives without. Where would we all be if it wasn’t for you. We cannot thank you enough. Here is a small tribute video, the audio is Prince Phillip himself speaking his Weiss words. Rest in Peace Prince Phillip, The creator & King of Mounted Games Produced by Murren Addison
05.01.2022 If you read one social post today let this be it... These images show the helmet of top US Showjumper Laura Kraut after her recent fall. Laura’s horse was weari...ng studs and as Laura landed her head was stepped on twice. Laura sustained injuries to her face but incredibly is back in the show ring today as her helmet was designed to withstand this kind of impact scenario, the PAS 015 (PAS 015:2011) standard, with a BSI Kitemark (this kitemark means the helmet is retested every year). If your helmet does not show this 'PAS 015' BSI Kitemark on the label, your helmet is not designed to withstand this level of crush or stud injury.* What could have been a much worse injury wasn’t just prevented because she wore a helmet, but because she wore THE RIGHT helmet. You only get one head and one brain, protect it with the best. All Charles Owen helmets are made in Britain and tested in our in-house testing facility. Please share this post to protect your fellow riders from a future fatal accident and to raise awareness of the importance of the ‘PAS 015’ standard. Laura wore an Ayr8 on the day of her accident and is remarkably already back competing today. *SNELL safety standard also provides a very high level of protection for crush and stud injuries, you can find this in our 4STAR helmet. VG1 & ASTM do also provide a level of protection but not to the same level as PAS 015.
