14.01.2022 On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month we will remember them for what they have done for us. Lest We Forget

14.01.2022 Hello all Quick message from the committee. We are not happy about it, but we won’t be racing this Cup weekend like we normally do..... I’m sure you all assumed this, but Covid has put a stop to all our fun ... The club had great events scheduled for this season, which are all on hold until we are out of lockdown. At this stage we possibly could run a race event late this year or early next year ( if Covid restictions ease of course ). We have plenty of water in the lake, which may help us race later in the summer season than normal We hope you are all staying safe and can’t wait to see everyone at the lake when the world returns to normal. Regards GDBC Committee

10.01.2022 ASBC Life Member and longtime supporter of the club Brett Howard sadly passed yesterday due to illness. Brett was a lifelong friend and a willing source of wisd...om to all of us that knew him, and achieved many accomplishments, not only in the sport of powerboat racing but his other passion being South Australian football and of course his success as a devoted family man. Brett began his association with the ASBC in the early 70s as a boat racer and passenger, before becoming a founding crewmember on the Don P Farrell rescue boat for many years. The call to officialdom was next, and as usual, Brett's dedication and professionalism saw him go from State to Australian Referee where he was for many years, right up until his illness and even during, simply the best we have ever seen in this country. As for anyone that has ever had the honour of meeting Brett, they would all know of the gentle, caring nature of the man, and his passing will leave a great sadness in the hearts of everyone of us that has had the privilege to call him a friend. Brett we promise you that as a club we will continue to move forward like you would have wanted, and as per our recent conversations, your thoughts and wishes will remain firmly in focus, and will hopefully stand as a fitting tribute to you and your many years of service to us. Rest well Brett. From all of us at the ASBC. Condolences and best wishes to Brett's family

10.01.2022 Some more pics of GDBC boats from the weekend ... thanks to Jen Matthews

07.01.2022 Dates for the VICTORIAN JNR CHAMPIONSHIP 2020-21 Unfortunately we won’t be running a round this season due to COVID restrictions ... although we have the juniors on the marathon race weekend

07.01.2022 GDBC update !!! Yesterday we held our AGM, another year done . We had a full house which in these crazy Covid restricted times means only 20 were able to attend.... It was great to see everyone that attended and good to recap the season we have had. We have seen some much needed improvements to our facilities and have more just about to start !! We held 3 very successful race meetings at our little club this season and have some exciting news to be announced soon regarding the new seasons events at the GDBC This coming season we see a couple changes in our committee, which leaves some big shoes to fill for the new committee members elected. The new committee for 2020/21 season Commodore - Heath Hamilton Vice Commodore - Mick Taranto Secretary - Kylie Brown Treasurer - Neal Matthews Rear Commodore - Ray Lindrea We must give special thanks to Kristy Penington stepping down from her role as treasurer which she has worked hard for the club in. Also to Darren Penington stepping down from his position as Rear Commodore. Thanks for your hard work over the years. Let’s hope we are able hit the water soon and get into what we love doing, racing boats .

05.01.2022 Lake is rising nicely so we can start the season off in September

02.01.2022 This is the first planned event at GDBC for the coming season. ( Subject to Covid restrictions and permits of course.) Saturday 5 September We are proud to have the VOC back to run the Marathon race on our lake again this year. ... Past marathon event was a great success all be it a bit longer on the water than planned ! ... VOC have addressed the time issue for this event haha. We saw some interesting mixes of teams from all sides of Victorian boat racing. Had a great weekend on the water and social side after the race was just as good. It’s going to be a fun relaxed way to get back into boat racing for the new season Further event details to follow as we get closer !! https://facebook.com/events/s/voc-marathon-series/687309935439474/?ti=icl
