25.01.2022 Day 288.. 17/3/17 Lots of activity when we arrived at the house today for an 8am meeting. A team of guys were on the roof lifting all the colorbond and installing the anticon correctly, all around the exterior. The roof should have been totally sealed to prevent embers getting in if there is a fire. The roofing manager was there and to our surprise so was our own building inspector. Aveling were supposed to have cancelled him because the job wasn't yet completed but must have forgotten to. Guess who will be paying for that! Steve was there sealing all of the walls preparing for painting, and the cleaners were back again cleaning the exteriors of the windows as it's been two months exactly since they were cleaned and they were filthy again. A repercussion of taking sooo long to finish the house I suppose.

24.01.2022 DAY 314.. 13/04/2017 The retaining wall is almost finished, the sand pad is down for the shed and the interior walls will soon be painted the final colour. It's great to see things happening :)

24.01.2022 Day 231.. 18/01/2017 The garage door was installed today

24.01.2022 Day 200.. The rangehood went in today. Most of the electrics have been done. The super dooper switches look super dooper, but I forgot to take a photo, The downlights are great and I wish we had put them in all the rooms. No photo of them either.. but they are... downlights :)

23.01.2022 Day 289.. 18.3.17 Steve and Ray are busy today painting... Steve has been working since Wednesday. All of the sealer will be finished today. Roof has been fixed and most of the other issues have been resolved. The big hump in the concrete floor is still to be ground down, but at least it's been marked up ready to be done.

22.01.2022 Day 192.. 09/12/16 The tiling is almost finished, the bench tops are on, except for one in the scullery that appears to be a bit of a problem and all the sinks and basins except the scullery 1.5 sink are in. It's looking fantastic.

22.01.2022 Day 177.. 24/11/2016 Today when we went to see the house it was open and we were able to see what had been done. The more things that get done the bigger and more amazing this beautiful new home of ours becomes! All of the bench tops will be white stone, with a "cloud" look through them.

21.01.2022 Day 292.. We have our keys :D

19.01.2022 Day 369.. 8/6/17 The paving is now totally finished with the capping finished on the steps. Now we just need to seal it. The product will cost about $1000 for the area we need to do.

18.01.2022 Day 185 2/12/2016 The floor tiles have been laid in the laundry, bathroom, powder room and ensuite. They are all the same. For people that didn't want any grey. we managed to pick a style that was more grey than the sample we chose from. A bit disappointing but it will still look nice. The vanities/cupboards were to have a big space underneath with the floor tiling going right back, but a brick hob has been built at the front of the cupboards, which isn't what we wanted. We will have to get onto that little issue first thing Monday morning.

17.01.2022 The time has come to sell our beautiful family home of almost 25 years. It's going to be very sad to leave, but we are very excited to see our amazing new home getting closer and closer to completion. You can buy our home if you like :D http://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-wa-roleystone-1

17.01.2022 Day 250.. 6/2/17.. Everything is going very very slowly. Today the door handles were put on. Last week sand was delivered and spread at each end of the house for paving, and the paving was delivered - but nothing has happened with it yet. All the doors had their final coat of paint last week. The elecrician has been back and installed the remaining two downlights. There is still a switch on the wall to operate the fan in the slow combustion fire which needs to be move...d to the power point. Still no mirror in the ensuite. It seems that the biggest hold up is the front door. When the doors were delivered back in ealy November, our double front doors were incorrect. They were paintable, not stainable. A tradie I spoke to when I called in last week tells me that the correct doors won't be coming until 22 March. We contacted Aveling last week to ask about this, but no answers from anyone. It's looking like our kids that came home from Europe for three months aren't going to be able to help us move (as they planned) before they have to return at the end of March. We are feeling very frustrated See more

16.01.2022 Day 360.. 30/5/17 What a stuff up. The hole for the fire was built the wrong size, after giving the building company the dimensions numerous times, a copy of the brochure with dimensions, the model number. We also paid for the owner of the shop where we bought the fire to attend a site meeting with the building supervisor to ensure that everything was done properly for the installation. Then the fire was installed. Not in the middle of the pillar. Just wonderful :(

15.01.2022 Day 183.. 30/11/2016 Tile meeting with our building supervisor today. We reconfirmed where all tiles are to go and the tiler will start tomorrow :)

14.01.2022 Day 275.. 3.3.17 There doesn't appear to have been anything done again today. Who thinks we will get the keys next Thursday? It's a public holiday on Monday, so only three working days left. The anticon in the ceiling that is supposed to seal the roof still needs to be installed properly to comply with the BAL requirements (the BAL requirements cost a substantial amount of money on top of the cost of building, probably $20 - $30 thousand dollars) and at the moment any e...mbers from a bushfire can go straight up under the eaves and set the house on fire). The front doors as still to be stained and installed. The mortar in the exterior bricks requires patching in many places. There are numerous screw holes in the ceiling that need to be patched, where the electrician missed. the cornices in the living area requires small cracks repaired. The level of the sand at the back of the house needs to be increased as it is lower than the concrete pad and doesnt meet Australian standards. Some tile grout needs touching up. Plaster walls need some patching, the ceiling needs repainting in a few places, the electrical plug needs to be properly installed in the fire place recess. The support for the fire needs to be built in the recess. A flyscreen in the main bedroom needs repairing. Some of the render outside needs neatening up. Will three days be enough time, with the last part of the day needed to go to Osborne Park to pick up the keys and hand over the last payment? Somehow I don't think so See more

13.01.2022 Day 349.. 19/5/17 We now have a completed shed. We've had more of the dirt taken out from the front of the house (not my idea, I preferred it the way it was). We've had the bund at the back of the house cut back so that we get some of our view back and the benching to the side of the house now looks the way it was shown on the plans. Glenn has put in most of the pipes for the water from the gutters to go to the tank, plus other pipes for reticulation and for the electrical wiring. We've ordered and paid for our travertine paving, which is to start at the end of this month. We have finally made a decision about floor coverings for the living areas and hallways. Can't wait for it all to start going ahead.

13.01.2022 Day 266.. Pre Handover Inspection day today. The roof requires a bit of work to meet the BAL regulations and the bathroom mirror has a small chip in it and will be replaced. There's a bit of patching and filling inside and out to be done and we are waiting on the front doors. Fourth time lucky we hope. First ones delivered were paintable not stainable, second time same thing, third time stainable but damaged on delivery. They should be here at the end of the month. They have to come form the eastern states. The paving was done this morning and we tested the garage door out.. it works and it looks good!

13.01.2022 Day 363.. 2/6/17 The travertine paving is almost finished, just some capping on the stairs, and the dust between the pavers to be done. We are extremely happy with our choice. $24,000 for over 160 sqm of paving, which included the massive extended alfresco area, 19 m long path,, 4m and 2m long stairs, the portico outside the front door and the courtyard outside the two front bedrooms. Josh and his team from Absolute Paving did a fantastic job.

13.01.2022 Day 296.. 25/3/17 The grey undercoat is now on a lot of the walls. The final colour is Dulux "Grand Piano", the colour at the bottom.

12.01.2022 Day 357.. 27.05.2017 The travertine pavers have been delivered and are ready and waiting to be put down in a few days, and the retaining wall has been extended a little.

12.01.2022 Day 307.. 5.4.17 Today the limestone blocks were delivered ready for the retaining walls to be started next week. Steve and Brett have finished painting the undercoat and the walls are patched (hundreds of patches), and ready to be sanded.

10.01.2022 Day 198.. 15/12/16 The stonework on the pillar for the slow combustion fire is half done (an intricate and time consuming job that has so far taken 2 days to do) and it looks absolutely fantastic. Also today the concrete in the garage was poured. The oven is in, the new bench top in the scullery has been put in, with the holes for the 1.5 sink the right way around. Every day so much is being done.

10.01.2022 Day 263.. 19/02/2017 Final inspection is scheduled for next Wednesday. Not much been happening lately. The builder's toilet has gone, the paving is still to be done. The heavy rain last Thursday night washed away a lot of the sand at the bottom of the downpipes, exposing the full depth of the concrete slab in areas. Hopefully it will be repaired. The brickwork has all been cleaned for a second time. The recess in the walk in robe is still unfinished, and the front doors are still to come. But we're getting there!!

09.01.2022 Day 252.. 8/2/17 Today we had a phone call from the builders, things are looking to be more on track than we had been told. Thank goodness. The doors should be here before the end of the month, so the things needed to be done can be completed, the final inspection done, and then the doors can go on. Yayy!!!

09.01.2022 2.10.2017 .. Day .. no idea! :D It's almost 7 months since we had our handover and we sent in our list of repairs required a couple of weeks ago. In that time we have had to have five extra downpipes added to cope with heavy rainfall and such a large roof area. The eaves around most of the house will be repainted because of the staining caused by the excess water flowing back into the eaves. The extra downpipes have been connected up to our water tank. Now we are waitin...g for the tilers to come back to re lay the travetine paving that had to be pulled up. Inside the house we have only had a bit of cracking in one area around the cornices, although our painter did repair a lot of cracks prior to painting. Some self closing cupboards and drawers in the kitchen are no longer self closing and require repair, and the waste pipe for the washing machine is on the wrong side so the hose doesn't reach. A flange in the ensuite shower has come adrift and needs to be re attached. There has been some settling around the kitchen window and the grout needs some work. But that's about everything that needs reapir. Nothing major, except for the downpipes, which have already been addressed. We have been slowly turning our house into a home, although there is still plenty to do. See more

07.01.2022 Day 285.. 14.03.2017 Tomorrow we have our final inspection. Almost everything has been fixed that was picked up at the first inspection. I wonder what will happen about the things that haven't been done, and when they will get done? The house was cleaned ages ago so it needs cleaning again. There is dirt and dust all over the floors, and the wiondows are all filthy. It's great to see the skip bin gone, it's been sitting outside the garage for many many months. If all... goes well we should get the keys on Friday. Tomorrow the prep for painting begins, we've chosen all of our colours. We've organised retaining walls to be built, chosen the travetine for our outside areas and organised a company to do the paving. We've had quotes for our driveway's and we've ready and waiting to start getting things done once we have the keys. It's nine and a half months since the site works started. See more

06.01.2022 Day 286.. 15.03.17 Final inspection didn't go well today so we won't be picking up our keys on Friday as planned. None of the major items to be fixed were done to the bushfire attack level standards or to Australian building standards. Our insurance won't cover us if the house is damaged or destroyed by a fire if the BAL requirements haven't been met. Once we pick up our keys our insurance kicks in. If you are building we highly reccommend having your own building inspector, and one that keeps coming back until everything has been completed properly. We are now waiting for a date when everything has been done to the required standards so that we can have Andrew from Australian Home Inspections back to hopefully do what WILL be a final inspection.

06.01.2022 Day 400.. The interior is looking good, with the porcelain tiling now finished and the carpet laid. Well.. except for one room which will have to wait another few weeks as ihe carpet was delivered too small for the room. Today Aveling had the stone fireplace wall finished of properly, and they also grouted around the bottom to finished the edge off. It's looking fantastic!

06.01.2022 Day 363.. 1/6/17 The paving is almost complete and it looks amazing. Great job guys! Photos of all of it to come once it's been finished. We chose to use travertine pavers laid in a French style. Absolutely stunning.

06.01.2022 Day 193.. 10/12/2016 The tiling has all been finished, including the grout, except for the long wall in the scullery. We think that's waiting for the problem with the end benchtop to be resolved

05.01.2022 Day 230.. 17/01/2017 The cleaners were there when we went to the house today to get some quotes for driveways. It was great to see a clean house with the bright green plastic gone from the bench tops.

05.01.2022 Day 232.. 19/01/2017 Fly screen are almost all in and big piles of sand are waiting for the paving to begin.

03.01.2022 Day 205.. 21/12/16 The rock fireplace is looking fantastic. All of the rockwork has been done and 2 of 4 of the walls have been grouted. We love it. The tiling in the scullery is finished and the benches are all in. Then there are the pretty flash light switches and power points in the entry, living area and hallway to the garage.

03.01.2022 Day 320.. 19.4.17 All sorts of things happening today. The concrete slab for the shed was laid, the 4 metre steps down to where the pool will be almost done, and Steve is onto the final colour of paint.

03.01.2022 Day 369.. 8/6/17 Plus one more photo.. oops, I forgot it!

02.01.2022 Day 197.. 14/12/16 It's a hive of activity at the house today. A team of guys are there to do the rock work for the fire pillar wall. Then there are the plumbers busy dong their thing too. There has been a huge amount of work done over the last few days.

02.01.2022 Day 295.. 24/3/2017 The garage door mechanism has been reset and it now stays closed. It's now all secure.

01.01.2022 Day 274 2/3/17.. A few little things have been done at the hosue but most things are waiting for the doors to be installed first. They were expected Monday, arrived Tuesday but are still sitting on the lounge room floor waiting to be stained and hung. We are expecting the keys on the 9th or earlier. That's next Thursday. The countdown is on. We will be very dissapointed if we have to wait longer. There has been a lot of waiting lately.
