25.01.2022 On Wednesday we released 12 Naso Fortest Red Tail cockatoos that came into Kaarakin injured. After a successful rehab period it was great to see them flying free. The release location was my top paddock in the hills of Perth. Over the years we have release many red and white tailed cockatoos here. For those who dont know I founded the rescue society for black cockatoos 16 years ago and today we are a first class rescue rehab and release facility. Thank you so much... to all of the Kaarakin team who have made it the facility it is today. One constant is we will always get injured cockatoos, (thatvare critically endangered) and the search for funding from year to year gets so much harder #Kaarakin
25.01.2022 Call on the Premier and all the other local members to open up our internal Boarders. We have overcome the initial COVID-19 issue. Our medical facilities are all geared up for the second wave should this occur. Yes, we may have isolated outbreaks and we can respond appropriately. Western Australia should be Western Australia, not split into Zones. Zones worked well when we were in the unknown and this was a good idea. However it is no longer required at this point and w...e should be allowed to move around our state to support the struggling regional centres. Id go even further, to open to the states that are covid-19 free and have been for over 2 weeks. I understand a state election is coming next year and it would not be a good look for the Labor Government to possibility have another outbreak, However this is past politics, we need to support our fellow West Australians now, today!! What are our thoughts?
25.01.2022 Im so proud of the team from Kaarakin. We have come a long way from, our humble beginnings in 2004. It was great to watch them being released from home this morning. Great work team.
24.01.2022 I don’t understand or believe in violent protests. I believe in protest and making people held to account. But burning your community makes no sense to me. It’s not hurting any one else but local people as shops and their businesses burn. Just imagine. Hi honey how was the riot? Oh good we showed them. Honey, Could you go to the shop and buy some baby formula. I can’t we burnt that down. Can you go to the chemist and get some baby formula. . Sorry we burnt... that down as well, in fact we burnt them all down. When does it stop being a protest? When does it start to be crime? Only in America.
24.01.2022 Hi all. I have some questions that I’d like to ask. Some you won’t like some you will. Honest constructive feedback would be appriectaed. Does not mean council is looking at these issues. I’ll ask them over a few days. 1). Do you think councils have too much say on what a person can and can’t do to their homes.
24.01.2022 Cant believe I saw this in Coles today. He cant drive for crap. Sorry about the punt.
24.01.2022 We are out on our street to celebrate and pay respect to our ANZACs. With no street lights and 300m between properties we cant see any one else. Lest We Forget.
23.01.2022 Can any one guess. I need make, model and year
23.01.2022 Tonight at council, we held a community meeting with 56 Cresswood residents. Be assured your concerns and opinions were heard. Together lets make a safer community. Thank you councillors for attending, and great work from the city staff, in such a difficult situation.
22.01.2022 So its a tad wild out there, power out and trees down. Please be safe and look out for one another. Lets all get though the night safely. Let us know how your travelling.
22.01.2022 Looking after our seniors in our community is so important. We will all be there one day. Last Tuesday at the council meeting I put up a motion to establish an inquiry committee to see if we are getting it right through services, infrastructure, and are we a snr friendly city. For today and beyond. Whilst this was happening a 70 year old man was found deceased in our community who had been there for a cpl months. My motion did not get up, councillors deciding to go to ...another councillor workshop first, before we had the opportunity to have a prepared report from the CEO. This is the democratic process so be assured we are all working towards a great city for our seniors.
21.01.2022 COVID has seen many people do it hard who normally dont. COVID has meant many of us have done without the luxuries that we may be accustomed to. What are your thoughts - Please share as Id like to hear peoples thoughts. The Mayor sent an email out to all councillors that he was planning to hold the Mayoral dinner in August 2020. With COVID and those who have been struggling I thought it was poor form to hold a feast, I politely let him and my fellow councillors know t...his. All indications was that although i objected, the dinner was going to be held. I raised a motion to cancel the Mayoral dinner and to place a 12 month freeze on any interstate travel for 12 months. (Not that its happening currently anyway) After it was known the motion was being developed, the mayoral dinner was cancelled. I was asked to withdraw my motion. I said NO, as I wanted to cement this decision as I had little faith in this decision. At last nights OCM the motion was lost 6 to 5 as the argument put forward, the mayor had cancelled the dinner for the time. However could change his mind. Should council hold the mayoral dinner and councillors limit any interstate travel or are you happy for councillors to hold a dinner that realistically has no value to our city. Personally Id like to see the money go to local food business to create food hampers for those who need that help. What are your thoughts.
21.01.2022 Well done City of Canning a great job.

19.01.2022 It was nice catching up with Glenn Dewhurst - Former Mayor - City of Gosnells Councillor. Elections will always come and go. Changes happen. But friends do remain friends, hopefully , more often. Thanks Glenn for all your support for our communities while in office and even now.
18.01.2022 Who wants to be in politics now? You are damned if you do and damned if you dont. But we need to be told WHY we have not learnt the lessons from other countries. China, with cities bigger than Australias entire population put together, has more or less beat COVID-19. In two months, China is effectively back up, running and sending doctors, masks, and ventilators around the world to those who need help. Why are we asking the US for test kits when American mismanagement... has clearly been a tragic screw up, Why is it going to take 6 or more months in Australia? Its because we were not prepared and are NOT taking actions when we should. Remember when this virus first raised its head, the PM followed Trump's ill-conceived narrative and said we will be right, we wont face a pandemic. The chief medical officer confirmed this with the PM - and we are still taking their advice. Every action has been 2 weeks or more late. Moving forward we need to stop playing Russian roulette with our children. We must learn from others. Let's lobby government to close our schools now so they dont become centres of mass contamination. Why has the WA government rejected offers to source medical masks and testing kits that were used effectively to reduce the Virus impact in Asia? We need to copy Asia, source and wear tens of millions of masks. Just do it. This is not business as usual. Physically, economically and emotionally we are going to be hit hard and we need to look after each other. We must go hard now to beat this virus, so we will get through it quicker.
17.01.2022 I’m so proud of the team from Kaarakin. We have come a long way from, our humble beginnings in 2004. It was great to watch them being released from home this morning. Great work team.
17.01.2022 I am proud to say I am looking forward to the new FROZEN MOVIE. I was going to put a call out to see if I can go with some one (as it would be weird to go by myself). My daughters agreed to come with me. I think they are just as excited.I am proud to say I am looking forward to the new FROZEN MOVIE. 17.01.2022 On 23 June 2020 Council approved the former Kelvin Road Waste Disposal Site as the location for the City's new Operation Centre, Rapid Transfer Station and Animal Pound. The $23 million project will provide a state of the art operations facility for the 220 engineering and environmental staff. Designed for 20% growth, the facility is anticipated to serve the City of Gosnells' community for the next 50 years. The DA has been submitted and WAPC approval is anticipated by Christmas 2020. It has been a long time coming and even though there was some local opposition, I can sure residents the City of a Gosnells is a good neighbour to have. This will allow free up the current Maddington facility to kick start Maddingtons rejuvenation of quality living, sports and travel.
14.01.2022 Tonight I was celebrating with the staff from our great city (City of Gosnells) in Fremantle. We were nominated as finalists for the 2018 PLA WA Awards for our Multicultural Food Fusion Fair.
14.01.2022 It was great to catch up with the team at the C3 Church in Langford this afternoon. It was good to have a chat and hand out hampers. Thank you Lisa Renae and beautiful little Paulette for being in our photo. C3 do an amazing job and need help in food donations to help those in our community. Together we will succeed.
14.01.2022 I asked Narla the Dingo (brown) what she thought of Clive Palmer. Her reaction said it all. I could not repeat what Zoe told me. (Black Dingo) ... #dingo #Kaarakin
14.01.2022 Why is the Australia governments (Federal & State) trying to develop a rapid test kit that takes 30 minutes. When there is one already developed and proven that only takes 15 minutes. I know we want to develop locally but at what cost?
13.01.2022 As some in Australia behave baldly, there are so many of us doing the right thing with our neighbours and strangers. Last night I was speaking with a friend who is a health worker in a hospital, as is her husband. They have 3 children, 1 in high school two in primary school. They go to work every day not knowing what the day will bring them. She said Glenn its like playing Russian Roulette each day we go to work, its not if we get it, but when. If you have health workers no matter where they work, from hospitals, dentists, doctor surgeries, aged care etc etc etc, shout out to them and thank them. What can you do for them. Pls share the good stories here. Keep our community positive.
12.01.2022 For the life of me I can’t think what these flowers and plant is called. Can some one pls let me know. Also is it ok to plant more now as move into summer, as long as we water them?

09.01.2022 Self isolation is not to bad. It has given me a chance to catch up on all the stuff I want to do around the house. Each morning I take our miniature horse out for a feed of grass. With the team watching, wanting to play, they all have a turn licking his face. Problem is when I go to take him back to his paddock, and away from the Dingos he just sits down like a mule until he says good by. Stay safe all.
06.01.2022 So People have been asking me what I have been up to since I am no longer the Mayor. Well Im still a councillor and working hard for our great city. Though I now have more time for my family friends and the 7 not for profit boards I sit on. Business has been good also Today I got to take my Bogong Dingo pup to a board meeting to one of the environmental boards I sit on. She is now 9 weeks old and runs the show, everywhere I take her. She just loves people and cuddle...s. Bogong Dingos are extinct in the wild. Oh yes I am having a bad hair day.
06.01.2022 Good to be down at Netball watching the daughters and their friends play. New fencing, new night lights, resurfacing of the courts and the great team at SDNA makes it a great place to be. #SDNA. #langford #gosnells #thornlie #southernsistrictsnetballasociation
05.01.2022 A solution to this. Call on the State government and our local members to mandate that all supermarkets open for 24 x 7 shopping, immediately. This will stop this crazy mob mentality. limit the chance of infection. It will also stimulate the local economy by creating more jobs. Ok so we have a pandemic to deal with. Its time for some very basic out of the box thinking. Firstly scenes like this has to stop. If some one has the virus and coughs, it could be spread to all these shoppers. Stop putting yourself at risk. There is enough food and other supplies to go around. Though it disappoints me that people are trying to profit from it. Good on the super markets not taking back any returns.
05.01.2022 I’d like to introduce you to Alkira and Junda. Two Bogong Dingo pups. Bogong Dingos are extinct in the wild, only a hand full remain in captivity. Australian... federal and state Govts are trying to make all Dingos extinct as they did with the Tasmanian Tiger. We all say if I was around I would of saved the Tasmanian tiger from extinction. Well let’s help the Dingo before they become extinct. Govt’s, Resource Sector and land owners should be helping the Australian apex predator before its to late. Help us build a dingo discovery centre. #Kaarakin #wildlife #FMG #bhp #south32 #royhill #riotinto #dingo
04.01.2022 It was an honour to speak at the "Women of World Stage" (WOWS) forum, on the weekend. This is such a dynamic group of women. These forums provide a great way to discuss the empowerment of women and to live and support each other in an ever-changing environment.
04.01.2022 Public meeting on Thursday 2nd July at the Gosnells Civic Centre. 6pm. Do you live or have an interest in our rural areas in Gosnells. The state is pushing councils to change zoning from Rural / Special Rural to Residential Rural which will eventually turn all our rural land and green belts in to residential dwellings. This is the first nail in the coffin of our beautiful rural areas. ... Pls contact the city for more details

01.01.2022 Thanks to the Impact Boom podcast and Kylie Hansen for the shout out to LOOP and re-localising manufacturing for social impact. Tom: "There's no doubt there are a whole heap of really inspiring projects and initiatives that you've both come across. So Kylie, did you want to take a lead on that? Kylie: "There's a wonderful employment based social enterprise here in WA called Loop, which actually creates different kinds of consumable skincare, [as well as] hygiene products and ...supports organisations with up-cycling of their uniforms and their work clothing into brand new items that they then use for their workers or put on sale. Loop is engaging with people with disabilities and others experiencing vulnerability and disadvantage from the employment perspective and create a centre of excellence to increase the manufacturing capacity of the state again. I think we have seen with COVID this is quite a significant challenge for Australia" https://lnkd.in/gXXGdtE #socialenterprise #disadvantaged #employment #manufacturing #jobs Dwayne Rowland AIPM, AIM Sven Stenvers Carey Wright @Jane Ziemons Glenn P.W Dewhurst
