24.01.2022 2021-04-04 "Home among the (gum) trees"

24.01.2022 2021-04-16 "Out standing in it's field" This is a 2 year old image.. and seriously it can not be appreciated on a small screen. Nothing flashy, an old home on the top of a hill on the edge of the divide. Where I stand the water flows west into the Murray River, and from the house and into the distance the water flows to the Pacific Ocean. What the view must have been when it was built? The stories that are in those walls near a hundred years of history, a hundred years of change..

23.01.2022 Hi everyone, Following recent health changes i have take a break, and wind down for a short while. Most projects are now on the back burner. Unfortunately due to deadline requirements.. The 2021 calendar has been cancelled, we are 3 weeks from publisher deadline.. this time is critical for printing and supply to retailers.... I will be considering a number of ideas to make our art available for your homes... Please watch this space.. Love to all, thank you for your support. Glenn.

23.01.2022 2021-03-26 "Shields Up" Trying for a long-duration post sunset shot of the flood waters under the "Loudoun Bridge" on the Moonie Highway. I had run out of firm ground before the bank drops rapidly into the water. This is on the down stream side of the Loudoun Bridge. Fired a few shots and I ended up likeing this one where a freight road-train photobombed my shoot. The effect looked more like something out of a SciFi movie.. "Shields Up Mr Worf" came to mind. ... Back with my old friends the mosquito's, sand flies and Spiders, I also checked out the water views from the other side of the tracks. Have a great weekend everyone..

20.01.2022 Decided to splurge on a toy for when I am back on my feet..

20.01.2022 2021-04-04 Western Downs Sunset

19.01.2022 2020-05-24: Sunset Yeah I know another sunset. As I work to get my focus back on my eyes, these are the easiest to work on. . I want to get back to night photography, but with my own personal lightshow going on and random shadows not just yet.... Out of the recent sunsets I am sure every photographer with their butt above the ground had a unique view of this one.. well those in South East Queensland. I had several to choose from.. but this one was.. well it was my normal formal and technical .. but it is technical. Margie said she loved the colours - AND THAT was good enough for me. Cheers have a good last week of Autumn

18.01.2022 2020-05-18 One from the start of the year. "Chinchilla Botanic Parkland" Chinchilla... I do need to return when I have the Camera repaired. Certainly a lovely spot, look forward to seeing future upgrades and as the existing plants grow.

17.01.2022 2021-04-10 G.Vickery Photography and myself did a run out of town taking advantage of the beaut clear autumn sky's last evening. Not exactly the cleanest sky , but compared to the last month or more, no moon, and it was an awesome sight. Shot from the roadside and all single shots from the 14 - 35mm Nikkor z series lens. We wait now for the Galactic core to rise earlier, and the Milky Way season will be off and running. regardless of that we managed shots of the Emu and it...'s neck tonight. I do challenge people to spot the Southern Cross.. The LMC and the SMC stick out pretty well. Oh if you do go out to shoot the night sky's? Take some Aeroguard or RID, the mozzies will mug you and steal your camera if you are not prepared.. They are vicious out there.

16.01.2022 2020-06-14 Just a practice day, It was good to stalk a few of the clouds today. Started the day restarting a project I started a few years ago. A late friend encouraged that I do a photographic survey of the town for historical purposes. So restarting this morning, the light faded so only grabbed 2 main street images.... later in the afternoon - realised why I liked the old Jack - We had the last wave of rain cells tracking across the town. Oh and the sunset.. I failed I could not capture what I saw.. so I need to learn a bit more.. Have a great week Glenn

16.01.2022 2020-03-07 Storm Day Another trip around the Jondaryan - Aubigny again on Saturday, in the hope of something forming out of the instability . No storms but beaut sunset and sunset lit landscapes. Images are not for media or broadcast use, not to be embedded or otherwise copied and used without consent: Licencing available.

15.01.2022 Yes I broke the leg irons and did a runner to grab a few shots, and yes I paid for it today. It was a nice lat winter storm, hail in a few areas.. YEs I did try to grab some of the lightning.. I was far too slow. I hope to improve by the time the season starts in earnest. I will say I am happy with the Rainbow pano, getting a good rainbow has challenged me over the years. Managed a couple of "Publicity" grade images on the phone.. I suspect candidates for 2022 calendar?

15.01.2022 2020-11-07 - More from the Oct 28th's Storm Day My Main reason for running out to catch this system was the setting sun I was really eager to see what the setting sun could add to the evening's entertainment. Sunsets can be zero's or Hero's, they can present for 30 seconds or just show and show for near half an hour . This one was just a handsome 10 minutes, and some rain shrouded lightning I think the textured cloud caught at sunset was worth the effort. 180 7 shot stitched pano: "another disappointment of life"

15.01.2022 My New Life release: It is when the world is throwing everything at you, and appears to be bigger than you, that you find your resilience and strength...

14.01.2022 My New Life release: not my best astro, and it is likely a long time before I will be editing let alone shooting Astro images. Here is my last pano prior ..

14.01.2022 If I were to do a Give away of "Desktop Background" Packs (12 images), which images would you like? 2019 Calendar? Selected Storm - 2018-2019 Selected Sunset - 2018-2019 Selected Storm - 2015 to 2019... Selected Sunsets - 2015 - 2019 Selected Images - 2015 - 2019 (can be any of the above) sorry 2019-2020 images are reserved for our existing projects. These images will only be supplied in sizes up to 1920 x 1080 resolution. and in Landscape- Any interest in images as Device (Phone or Tablet ) Backgrounds? again in 1080 HD, but in Portrait - unless your tablet or phone is used in landscape. - Glenn

14.01.2022 2020-10-25 2 days worth of outings here. As my head clears up, and my ability to lug the camera's around improves I may resume a few of my old projects and start a couple of new ones.

13.01.2022 I am range limited, so 5km is as far as I will go at this time to capture weather events.. While I was at this spot I set the gearup to do a ~18 seconds worth of time-lapse. this is one frame of that. It is steadily getting harder to find an unharvested crop of Wheat or Barley.

13.01.2022 2020-05-06 : eta aquarids 2020 Thought I would have go at trying to capture a meteor or 2 this morning. How did I do? Well I got to my site just after moon set A couple of small flashes presented outside of frame of view of the camera. so disappointing photographically - enjoyable to view. Managed to log a few passing satellites - none in the watch area for the meteor shower The other item of interest was comet Swan - this technically is only just visible to the naked eye, ...and with binoculars you could locate then the brain could discern where it was.. You will do well to spot it in the first image - Dusty and the Comet . No more of this until about the new moon. See more

10.01.2022 My new life release: The Sentinals.. the Sentinals prepare for their night manoeuvres.. The Sentinals. A project in progress.

10.01.2022 2021-04-13 "Being Out There" What a strange title for a post? Would this Shed be so full of character if it sat inside all the time, fully protected from the elements? Would it have even been noticed? The thumbnail I am looking at while I edit this post does not do the shed justice or the effort and travel to grab the image.... But that is what we do .. Most kinds of photography requires the photographer to "Be out there", not the weird "out there" - but it helps sometimes. All the other things about photography is just noise, all the talk about landscapes and weather? Noise. You have to be out there with a reasonable camera -READY. If you are not confident going out on your own grab the coat tails of another photographer. you could make a noise on the old "Shoot Group" - I've renamed to Dalby Photographers - https://www.facebook.com/groups/DalbyPhotographyShootGroup Be it Weather, Urbanscapes, Landscapes, Nightscapes or skyscapes, or portraits - being out there and ready is how you are going to enjoy this great hobby. Life is great, and it is too short to sit looking at the internet and wishing. Grab your camera, or your iPhoney, or android. And start "Being Out There" with me or someone or just yourself

09.01.2022 2020-10-02: Returning Hey everyone.. As a few are aware I have been down for most of the last 9 weeks, and not exactly at the top of my game for a number of months prior to that. A simple "let's check you out" procedure became a life altering event. Even now I am still recovering and probably will be for many month and perhaps years to come..I AM RECOVERING, ... The events of near 10 weeks ago had required that I close my business and cease all my photography and journalism interests. The result here? No 2021 Calendar No serious shoots have been undertaken since Late July . I am working my way back, but I just hope it rains properly before I am fit enough to chase storms. Mind you, there are lots of shoot opportunities from the passenger's seat like this one from 2018.. IF you are a local and enjoy photography? Consider joining the Dalby Photographers Group we setup a few years ago.. Be great to go on a social shoot.. But please no long drives or long walks...for now that is.. And Thanks for those that have been checking in with me over the past weeks.. It really helped! More new pictures are coming... watch this space.. Glenn

09.01.2022 2020-05-17 Deceptive Promise. The starkness of this sunset very much fits the mood of how the weather is treating our farmers. Showers with enough rain to settle the dust but not enough to drain into a tank. ... Enough rain to grow weeds, but not the crops. Enough of a downpour to excite a city storm chaser, but not enough for the farmer to go to his bank manager. The promise of the cloud, the reality of the land. See more

08.01.2022 2021-03-15 "My Daddy" The young fellow was not feeling too well and only wanted his Dad. But his dad was on a mission, he was about to be center stage of a "Shave for a cure" fundraiser. Not sure if he was hanging on to dad because he was not well or he knew that dad was about to lose his hair and beard and look very different.

08.01.2022 2020-06-01: From a few days ago, from my current run of sunset related images. Shooting into or near to the sun can create some interesting results, here I was looking at the near Black and White effect and a silhouette .. I failed .. but managed this image. This one is destined to be printed for one of our walls at home..

07.01.2022 2020-06-12 "Serious Cirrus..." with weak " irisation" aka Cloud iridescence... these were impressive Cirrus formed over the Northern Darling Downs this afternoon, it made for an impressive sunset. unfortunately i missed that event thanks to work. I hope many of you managed to catch a glimpse ...

07.01.2022 My New Life release of images... Storms are like our lives. Our inner beauty and strength only show in the turbulent times.

07.01.2022 With limited chasing range and time I'm proud of what we have managed to capture over the last couple of days. we went out because of the Mammatus and sunset.. but this was the first shot I processed for the day's efforts. These storms had dumped a moderate level of rain, 20 to 50mm, and slushie, pea sized hail, damaging to some crops but not so to much property. Pirrinuan (Dalby) Queensland... 17:55hrs 28th Oct 2020 Seriously I'm wrapped to just capture a nice image and be on the dry side of a squall line. First season where the storms have to come to me. Be safe everyone, hope you all have a safe and successful season, tick off some bucket list shots guys. Media licensing available via www.severeweather.com.au

07.01.2022 2020-03-23: Sunset Ok this was from yesterday - Sunday the 22nd. It was one of those WOW.. How different is that experiences.. I captured a couple of shots on the phone, then managed to grab the D4.. and caught a few shots.. this is a 7 image stitched panorama capturing as much of the sky I could.. ... I had friends sharing their shots with me that just made the experience even better.. Have a great week everyone.

07.01.2022 Storms and Sunsets.. Well today we managed A Storms at sunset. yes more than one at once. Most of these from the Cecil Plains - Norwin- Bowenville Area.

06.01.2022 2020-11-07 Another from the Oct 28th's Storm day I had been wanting to get an updated image of the Country Club, and this passing storm encouraged its patronage of another image for me. While I had a Hi-Vis vest on, as an added safety measure as an added safety measure I had shelter from traffic with a light pole at my back. There is a symbolism happening with this image, Dalby locals may pick up on it very quickly. Single shot: "just another storm"

05.01.2022 2020-10-14 - I miss my Mummy.... I do prefer my Landscapes, but my wide open spaces has been very Victorian (the state of Australia that is) of late, and with a few grandies around I have had a few opportunities to try my hand at creating studies of people. The other thing I have not worked in is Black and White, the lighting when I sot this sequence was dramatic and it lends itself very well to B&W style. This is one young lad that love to grin at, and for, the camera. The ...last 2 images were selected and cropped to tell a story. It will be interesting to hear what the story is you see? Have a good rest of your week. Glenn.

05.01.2022 2020-10-27 Down but not out.. While not chasing - I am able to visit a couple of my usual sites.. Managed to grab this before the rain shrouded out everything. So officially my first lightning of the season..

04.01.2022 2020-07-24: one of my regular haunts "A Change of Role" Normally the guardian of a field of grain, today it was a fallow field and the abandoned home a guardian of some sheep.... certainly a good practice locality for the more challenging to view abandoned houses and sheds around the country. Hopefully my range of travel starts to increase soon, and my physical stamina returns to near where it used to be, and we start to see more of the beautiful old homes around the region.

04.01.2022 New Life Release: It was a quiet start to the season for me, I had managed a couple of unremarkable cg's earlier near Jimbour house.. so tried my luck to the south and managed some awesome crawlers. The New Life are either previously unpublished or 2021 calendar candidates (there will not be a 2021 calendar. Sorry)

04.01.2022 Very chuffed that a contracted shoot from last year has seen results. In Coles stores Australia wide a set of Macs Biscuit tins for fathers day in the set this image of a 1962 Holden ute. I was contracted last year to take a series of images for a local client of this vehicle. I had pretty much forgotten the job until she arrived at my home with this tin and a request to shoot another vehicle as soon as I was fit to do so. Anyone interested, I will sign the lid of the tins... with this image.. if you see the value that is. I do not make any money out of the sales of the tins, I was paid by the client at the time so no fee if my time is respected. As I said.. available at most Coles stores Australia wide https://www.macsshortbread.com.au/100g-gift-tins-2020 I am advised sold out Coles Dalby.. but then the Dalby store had no real interest in the product.. Cheers.. Glenn

02.01.2022 2021-04-04 Sometimes the Audience are the subject Happy Easter everyone.. This was a family and shoot weekend... These ladies were looking on and making comments while we were doing a shoot. so it was only fair we turn the camera on them. and they lapped up the attention of the cameras... Light was fading fast and the flash guns were back at base .. sorry girls..

01.01.2022 2020-06-13 Scattered Showers Have a bit on my mind at the moment. So been shooting solo, sorry to the other guys who have wanted to come out with me. Nothing personal, I do enjoy the hunt for the interesting shot and the bouncing of ideas. We can critique these on another outing.... Today: "You don't use a telephoto for Landscape" Really? Well neither of these were shot any wider than the 100mm. Landscape is not about getting all the land in the scape. it is about looking at the landscape in a different way, to present a view the observer or viewer of the image has not seen or considered before. This is not saying my future Journaling images will be more artistic, those are a public record, these are for hanging on your or my wall. I have a favourite of the two I have shared, thoughts on which one it is? One could end up as part of the next Calendar project: Darling Downs: through my lens. Have a great weekend - Hope you manage enough rain from this weekends event - Glenn

01.01.2022 2020-06-23: Calendar Hey everyone, Working on the template for the next Calendar, still working through my images from the last year for the short list and will know by early next month of the images we will plan to use.... We will likely be working on a smaller print run this year, if we decide to go to print. This year we just made costs, and our inability to attend Shows and Markets did not clear the last of the calendars. And talking to a few, I am being told that due to phones and tablets most people do not use calendars. Personally I had considered these as "12 months worth of Wall art, that If you wanted you could frame selected months for a lot longer" I was considering dropping the Large dates on the Calendar and focusing on the Image and reducing the overall weight and size of the calendar by reducing the number of pages. and dropping the Black borders So what do you think? Give it away? Print a reduced run? or Rework the design, too big and heavy, and we hated the black.. It was a bad start to a bad year give it another go.. Your thoughts Please.
