25.01.2022 I wonder if anyone will get shooting pains down their leg. I'm not armed, but I'd love to take a shot at resolving your aches and creaks!

25.01.2022 A lot of alternative therapies were removed from the list that the government co-funds through rebates.Remedial Massage Therapy is not affected by these changes and is still claimable. Unlike the other therapies that were unable to meet the requirements, our professional associations were able to show compelling scientific evidence for the benefits of remedial massage in the treatment of soft tissue injuries, pain and stiffness.

24.01.2022 This is the sort of stuff I read every week to achieve my ultimate goal of becoming a leading Rat Massage Therapist! By the way, I'm against animal testing that involves any pain to the subject. For the TL;DR people - rats that have a repetitive strain injury heal faster with massage. If you are part of the rat race and have knots, strains, tightness and pain, you will get well faster with some massage therapy. www.mymassageguy.com.au... ------ Manual Therapy as a Treatment for Overuse Injures Chronic repetitive motion and overuse injuries made up a large proportion of musculoskeletal and nerve disorders. These conditions are often called repetitive motion disorder or repetitive strain injuries. Painful and disabling musculoskeletal disorders remain prevalent and manual therapy has been used to treat such issues. However the actual neural mechanism of how manual therapy work is still unclear. To find out the neural mechanism of manual therapy, Geoffrey Bove and colleagues University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine conducted a study on rats. The rats were trained to perform repetitive tasks leading to signs and dysfunction similar to those in humans. The authors then tested whether manual therapy would prevent the development of the pathologies and symptoms. The researchers collected behavioral, electrophysiological, and histological data from control rats, rats that trained for 5 weeks before performing a high repetition high force task (HRHF) for 3 weeks untreated, and trained rats that performed the task for 3 weeks while being treated 3 times per week using modeled manual therapy to the forearm. The modelled manual therapy included bilateral mobilization, skin rolling, and long axis stretching of the entire upper limb. Results showed that rats that performed a repetitive task showed decreased performance of the given task and showed increased discomfort-related behaviors, starting after training. Those strained rats that were treated with manual therapy showed improved task performance and decreased discomfort related behaviors compared to untreated rats.

22.01.2022 Horny teenagers! The skeleton is changing in response to an unusual load. Can you imagine how these bone spurs could cause neck pain?

20.01.2022 Helping people makes me happy! --- I have worked with and been treated by many massage therapists over the years. Glenn is very professional and achieves results, more importantly! His methods are right up there with good manipulative physiotherapists. My Massage Guy is now my Go To Guy! Highly recommended

20.01.2022 Seems like an epidemic at the moment. The right treatment and self care advice will get you going again.

20.01.2022 This rings very true to me. On Tuesday I had a back spasm that hit me like a lightning bolt. I was simply bending over slightly when it happened. Thankfully, I know that the ONLY thing to do is KEEP MOVING! Add in a bit of self treatment with a tennis ball and I'll be good in a few days.

19.01.2022 Yep, I've been that guy. The one on the table, not the one putting a client through the ceiling. Tolerably uncomfortable is the limit I work within. You know, when it hurts but in a good way. You're probably like me. You don't like a treatment where it feels like nothing is happening the whole time, and you don't like being put on the torture rack for an hour. The right treatment is about getting a result. That may involve some short term tolerable pain to get a long-lasting... result. I also use some very gentle techniques where it really does feel like nothing is happening, until you get off the table and you can turn your head or lift your arm or whatever and there is no pain and your range is much better. Ultimately, if you feel better (and not just fleetingly) then I'm a happy camper. www.mymassageguy.com.au See more

17.01.2022 It's time to replace RICE with PEACE and LOVE! Nope, not your diet - your injuries. For decades, the standard treatment immediately after soft tissue injury has been RICE - rest, ice, compression and elevation.... Dr Gabe Mirkin who first proposed RICE in 1978 wrote recently that now it appears that both Ice and complete Rest may delay healing, instead of helping. Some studies suggest that applying ice on injured soft tissue is not only ineffective but might interfere with the body’s ability to heal. Inflammation is an important part of the healing process, so trying to minimise it may in fact be unhelpful. So what is PEACE and LOVE? Check out the pic! For more detail on PEACE and LOVE, see the blog in the British Journal of Sports Medicine. https://blogs.bmj.com//soft-tissue-injuries-simply-need-p/ Peace and Love to you! www.mymassageguy.com.au

16.01.2022 Another 5* review on the Google. "Very knowledgeable and helped treat an elbow issue that other professionals hadn't been able to help with. Highly recommended!"

14.01.2022 Purported to be a headache treatment from the 1890s. I have had many clients with chronic /frequent headache, sometimes developing into migraine. I have had the great satisfaction of significantly reducing their frequency and severity of headache, even completely free of headache and migraine, less reliant on medications and living life without the burden of pain. I hate hearing about people who have lived with chronic headache for years when the solution may be simple.... So before you try this, find a great therapist and get the right treatment. www.mymassageguy.com.au

10.01.2022 A new analysis has revealed the cost of chronic pain to the Australian economy. Get ready for a BIG number. $134 BILLION! No, you didn't read that wrong.Even worse, it is projected to rise to over $200 BILLION over the next decade. I particularly love treating clients who have been under a burden of chronic pain for some time. Whether it is shoulder, neck, back or joint pain, or chronic headache/migraine, I really want to get at it and make a difference. In some cases, it can... be completely resolved. In others, chronic pain can be made more manageable. Too often, I meet people who have suffered chronic pain in the belief that it cannot be alleviated. It can quite emotional for us both when they get a result that they could have enjoyed years ago with the right treatment. Don't just accept chronic pain. You may have tried other treatments without a result. Don't give up. You may just find a therapist who can solve the puzzle and get you on a better path. www.mymassageguy.com.au

09.01.2022 I heartily agree with this! Getting scans is not helpful. Reading a report that makes it sound like EVERYTHING is wrong with your back will have a negative impact on your recovery. This specialist is taking about guarding. You end up in a vicious cycle of not moving enough > pain increases because of lack of movement > even less movement > pain increases further and on it goes. Massage can ease the guarding and help break the cycle, provided the client does their bit by MOVING. Walking laps in the pool is a great way to break defensive movement patterns. https://www.theage.com.au//the-mythbusters-of-back-pain-be

06.01.2022 Facebook's recent change means you won't see many of the posts on this business page. Join the Group and you won't miss out on the news and tips. Whatever I post here, I'll copy into the Group.

05.01.2022 This perfectly sums up 2 things about back pain that I strongly believe in. 1) There is a stong correlation between mental state and outcomes. Looking at your scans and reports will probably make your pain worse! 2) You HAVE to keep moving! The pool is your friend. Getting the right treatment and advice on your back pain and avoiding the physical and mental pitfalls will have you pirouetting again.

03.01.2022 Don't do it! American sports doctor Dr Gabe Mirkin is the man who came up with RICE back in 1978. In 2015, he publicly conceded the new evidence showed it did not work. Cold and ice are safe pain medicines, but they delay healing," he told The Age this week. The Australian Physiotherapy Association agrees.... There is not really any evidence that putting ice on something is going to do anything significant for healing, that’s for sure, says spokesman Dr Christian Barton. The inflammation is there for a reason, and you probably don’t want to jeopardise that. https://www.theage.com.au//putting-ice-on-injuries-could-b

02.01.2022 Standing desks have become quite popular and several of my clients are appreciating not being stuck in the same position all day. Be like Stinkin Cat, and get the best of both worlds! And if you still have office aches, you know who to see.

01.01.2022 I love beating chronic pain. One of my loveliest clients came to me some time ago with hip pain that she'd suffered for years. She had tried a few different physios etc. but no-one was able to fully resolve it. Still hurting constantly at 4/10 on the pain scale. I haven't seen her for ages but she came in today for something else and happily reported her hip has been 100% free of pain now since I last saw her. That makes me want to do the hippy hippy shake! Don't ever give up... finding a solution to your longstanding, chronic pain. Someone might be able to help where others have failed. www.mymassageguy.com.au
