18.01.2022 The Lions Club of Glenorchy City have been working with the wonderful staff at WOOLWORTHS MOONAH to provide donations to the various charities around Glenorchy. Without their kind donations the charities would be struggling in these unusual times to help those in need. They are working tirelessly to support the homeless and needy in the Glenorchy Community. Each month Woolworths organize the donations to the charity and we provide the transportation and delivery. Woolworths M...oonah have donated to City Mission and this month we were able to give a donation to the Salvation Army The goods provided range from essential food items such as pasta, long life milk, personal hygiene items, spa-ghetti, baked beans and they also give special items such as biscuits and chewing gums. Members of the Glenorchy Club have also been busy making bags, knitting beanies and scarves. Members have also been buying and collecting items such as deodorant, toothbrushes and other personal items for donation. Twiddle-muffs are sensory comforts for people with restless hands. They are essentially woolllen hand warmers with lots of bits and pieces attached for people to fiddle with. They are made in bright colours and decorated inside and out with lots of different shaped, sized and textured objects. The muffs a re good for fidgeting with and calming people in distress. See more

10.01.2022 Lions club members around Tasmania are encouraging community members to attach a Remembrance Poppy to their letter box this ANZAC Day. Based on an idea put forw...ard by Riverside Lions Club member, Mr Robert Mantach, this can be extended to include a dedication to any veteran from your family or others who have served. Due to the RSL having to reluctantly cancel all official cenotaph services and parades, In family remembrances at home can be a way to keep the remembrance flame burning. Lions Clubs International, like all other service organisations (including the RSL), are quietly working in the background to provide whatever help is needed or requested and already preparing for when social restrictions are lifted and life gets back to normal. Sample template and flower - you can laminate and write a commemorative message. Mr Byron Dilworth First Vice District Governor / District Governor Elect - Lions District MD201T1 (Tasmania)

08.01.2022 Absolutely gorgeous song to brighten up your Sunday evening. "Memories bring back memories bring back you". Thanks @Louise Muldowney for sending it to me.
07.01.2022 On behalf of our Lions Club, member Jenna presented Chelsea from Ronald McDonald House Hobart with a new bassinet and bedding for the families staying in the house. The club usually cooks for the house around 3-4 times a year, but this year we unfortunately couldn't do that due to covid-19. Ronald McDonald house has been a yearly project of our club for the past 6 years along with other Lions Clubs here in district T1. The amazing work this house does for our families in need is amazing, we are proud to support our house in Hobart.

03.01.2022 Our organisation's motto is "We Serve" - in serving we sometimes conduct events to raise money for community causes. This year the profits from our efforts on the Chocolate Wheel at the Hobart Regatta are being donated to the Australian Lions Foundation National Appeal - Bushfires. The Lions Club of Glenorchy City is proud to announce we raised (with the help of all our generous fellow citizens) over the past 3 day weekend, the grand total of $5000 which will all be going to this National Appeal. Well done to the wider community of Hobart. You are making a difference in people's lives in supporting the Lions.
