09.01.2022 GEEVES TO PLAY GAME 200 A special day tomorrow as our First Grade coach and the face of Glenorchy Cricket Club, Brett Geeves kits up for game 200 in game two of our T20 double header against New Town tomorrow at the bike track, becoming just the 14th GCC player to do achieve the 200 game milestone. Brett’s journey at Glenorchy started all the way back in 1995-96 as a 13 year old when the club still resided at Eady Street as an Under 17 and Third Grade player. ... He made his First Grade debut for Glenorchy in 1998-99 scoring 2 runs and taking 0/25 in a loss against Kingborough. Brett missed the club’s 2004-05 Kookaburra Cup triumph as on the same day he was playing in the Tasmanian team that broke the state’s 26 year title drought against Queensland. Brett’s career would peak in August 2008, following a string of consistent seasons for Tasmania, he was selected the represent Australia against Bangladesh taking 2/11 off 5 overs and snaring a catch and in the process becoming the first Glenorchy cricketer to represent his country. Brett ended up playing 3 games for Australia and was forced into early retirement from professional cricket at age 29 due to a back injury. He also holds the interesting anomoly of being the only person in first class cricket history to of been left stranded twice on 99 not out. Brett then turned his attention to Glenorchy as he become club coach in season 2011-12 and in just his second season in charge, captained/coached the club to break a 36 year First Grade premiership drought against South Hobart-Sandy Bay at the TCA ground. Back to back titles followed in the two day format, as well as a Kookaburra Cup title, and CTPL and Statewide T20 titles in which Brett bowled a remarkable final over to lead the Magpies to victory over Ulverstone in 2014-15 at Blundstone Arena. After a couple of years off, Brett returned to coaching our First Grade side in 2019-20 and has led the club back from a couple of lean years to being much more competitive across the board as a whole. Besides the Tasmanian statistics and accolades, including being a two time Ricky Ponting medal winner, Brett has amassed 5053 runs, 273 wickets and 88 catches for Glenorchy at First Grade level. Good luck to Brett and the rest of the boys tomorrow, an amazing career and a testament to longevity, no one bleeds black and white more than Brett, let’s hope the boys can get a couple of wins for you! #gopies Cricket Tasmania Premier League

03.01.2022 WEEKLY HJL REPORT The week just gone saw two of our Under 13 teams play each other at Mt. Pleasant in what could be the first of many clashes between our junior teams up there! Our Glenorchy Black U13 team has 8 players from the Oatlands region, and we also have players in Stage Two and U15 teams from the region also! The day was brilliantly hosted by Mt. Pleasant CC and their President Andrew Wright! A special thank you to Sam Green who co-ordinated and ran... a raffle and the canteen on the day, doing a great job in keeping everyone up there well fed and raising some funds for the club at the same time! Thanks Sam and Andrew Another highlight was the efforts of St.Annes young gun Lucas Kamaric who scored a great 55* in our U15 HJL side on Sunday! Lucas played in the U13 game for St. Annes against Glenorchy, and after a late withdrawal he got the call up and performed admirably! 20 run/ 2 wicket doubles this week were scored by Alarna Waller, Jacob Burdon and Henry Geeves! Lauchlan Oates and Nate West also had stand out games, both taking three wickets hauls! Under 13 duo Riley Robson and Bailey Barwick continued their great form both making scores in excess of 30 once again! WEEKLY ROUNDUP Under 15 Glen. 8/179 (34.2) lost to King. Black 7/186 (38.5) L. 03.01.2022 JWP organised a fantastic opportunity for the Hadspen Cricket Club today when former Tasmanian and Australian fast bowler BRETT GEEVES hosted a junior clinic for the club but also pulled on the club colours and played a One-off game.
02.01.2022 WEEKLY HJL REPORT Another week down and this week some great individual efforts highlighted the round! Individual Highlights:... Riley Robson in his Under 15 HJL debut opened the batting and top scored with an awesome 62 off 107 balls, batting for around 30 overs showing great temperament to nearly get his team over the line versus Lindisfarne. Jonty De Cotter, promoted to open our Under 13 White's teams innings, had the crowd ducking for cover in his swashbuckling 70 runs off just 48 balls at the picturesque Rokeby Village Green ground. Ethan Lacy (3/11) and Wil Keech (3/1) spun some webs taking 3 wicket hauls and Declan Gadd backed up his 3 wickets last week, with another 3fa this week (3/14) against SHSB! 20 run and 2 wicket efforts belonged to the ultra consistent pair of Zac Pfitzner (24 & 2/7) and Bailey Barwick (20 ret* & 2/8).
