23.01.2022 Magnolia 73 Café in Moonah has continued to provide customers with a unique experience during COVID-19 regulations. While people wait for their takeaway coffees to be made by café partners Jonathan Hodgkin and Rik Thirlwell, they can view art on display in the café by local artists.

19.01.2022 The Glenorchy Ice Skating Rink has undergone a major makeover during COVID-19, with the rink welcoming back visitors. With the rink closed due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Glenorchy Ice Skating Rink team used the extended break to make some long overdue upgrades to the facilities. 17.01.2022 The Ukrainian community in Tasmania has celebrated 70 years since the first Ukrainians settled in Tasmania with a newly published book ‘With Ukrainian Greeting: A history of the Ukrainian Community in Tasmania’. The Association of Ukrainians in Tasmania released ‘With Ukrainian Greetings’ to tell the story of the first Ukrainian settlers in Tasmania and the journey of the community over 70 years. It includes information about the 340 Ukrainians who came to Tasmania as displaced persons after World War II, and how they contributed to transforming Glenorchy socially and culturally.

17.01.2022 COTA (Council On The Ageing) Tasmania has launched a new website to break down the barriers between older job seekers and employers. Work45+ is a one-stop information hub to help older job seekers and employers achieve better outcomes. 17.01.2022 Glenorchy based not-for-profit Riding for the Disabled Association Kalang received a positive boost in the form of an RACT Insurance COVID-19 Community Support Fund grant as it readies its stables to welcome back clients. Riding for the Disabled Association Kalang has occupied its present site in Glenorchy for more than 20 years, with a small team of dedicated volunteers and a range of horses and ponies that cater for people with disabilities of all ages.

15.01.2022 The finishing touches have now been placed on Claremont’s unique Walk of Remembrance, allowing the community and visiting tourists the opportunity to deep dive into the area’s local wartime history. 11.01.2022 ST Virgil’s Old Scholars Football Club has kept players busy and engaged during the COVID-19 season postponement with a number of running challenges. 09.01.2022 The Lions Club of Glenorchy City have joined forces with the staff at Woolworths Moonah to provide donations to the various charities around Glenorchy. Each month, Woolworth has organised donations to go to charities while the Lions Club has provided the transportation and delivery. 01.01.2022 Lightweight collars fitted with video cameras had provided researchers with new insight into the behaviour of Tasmanian devils in the wild.
