21.01.2022 This Saturday we will take on the Tasmanian University Rugby Union Football Club at home, for our last home game of the season. This will be a do or die match for us after our perfomances in the last couple of weeks, if we win, and other results pending, we might grasp fourth spot, however if we lose our season will be over. University have been very competitive in the last few weeks and will be looking for a win themselves to finish off their season. The game will kickoff at 3:00pm with the BBQ going during the game and the bar open. We will also be having a Hangi/Spit cooked up for all to enjoy after the game for $5 a head, to celebrate the end of the season. Everyone is welcome! We hope to see you all there! Go Stags!

10.01.2022 ROUND 1 MATCH REPORT: It was a beautiful day at Eady Street with a forecast of 23 degrees and sunshine. The Stags took on the Hobart Hutchins Lions in round 1 of the TRU Premiership league. These two teams have a close, strong competitive history, with the Stags knocking out the Lions last year in the Quarter Final after having lost to the Lions twice previously during the season. The first half saw a good set piece by the Lions who were strong in both the lineout and scrums.... However, the Stags defense was on fire and any ball possession that the Lions had received was worn away by a tireless and passionate Stags team. The first half saw tries scored by Aron Lovell and Neil Naufahu, with a superb effort from Chris Rusell who held up a Lions try attempt later on in the first half. At one stage during the second half the Stags were down to 13 men, after receiving a few cards for tackling issues. The Lions tried to seize this opportunity to try to make a comeback. However, once again the Stags defensive efforts were superb, stopping the Lions from being able to take advantage of any overlap opportunities resulting from a reduced player count. The Stags scrum also settled itself during the second half, providing renewed resistance against the Lions set piece. During the second half, tries were scored out wide by Baden Maynard and Tahki Skrepetos with Captain Michael Lovell securing an advantage (and the bonus point!) by scoring two tries from quick taps and diving through the Lions defensive line. The final result of the match saw the Stags defeat the Lions by 38-12! We also seen 6 players make their Stags debut, Robert Lovell, Kent Williams, Josh Smith, Theo Hart, Andrew Kruup and Neil Naufahu all of which played outstanding games! Drinks went to the following players: Kent Williams Andrew kruup Tye Hart The Stags would like to thank our sponsors, our supporters, volunteers and the Stags community that all came together to make our first game so successful. It was fantastic to see families and children enjoying watching a Stags victory! Lala's Laundry, Savoy Baths & Day Spa, Robbo's Chicken & Meat, chicken patch, Karadi, Joey's earth works and Papera Contractors. Next week (9th May) the Stags will take on the Burnie Emus Rugby Union Club, 3pm at Eady Street. The Emus were also successful in their round 1 game, beating University 38-12! It will be great to see the Stags community come down to support the club again and watch some fantastic rugby at Eady Street in what is sure to be another cracking game as the Stags hope to make it 2 from 2.
