25.01.2022 Fair bit of rain here overnight has left the trails a bit wet all round. Nobbys reported 18mm so might take some time to dry out, esp with current dreary weather.
25.01.2022 The NPWS have finally put the Ride Lightly vid up on their website - nothing seems to happen in a hurry! For those who haven't seen it or maybe time for a re-view check it out here - https://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/ne/ride-lightly-glenrock Thanks Laura and all those involved.
25.01.2022 Been drizzley here all morning, I'm out of action ATM so haven't been round - has anyone had a better look?
25.01.2022 Wow, it’s going to be a long winter if these conditions keep up. I avoided riding over the weekend after the bit of wet we’d had but went out Sunday arv. Couldn’t believe how wet things still were. I know we did have a couple of light showers but nothing for at least 24 hours and with weekend traffic normally spreads the moisture. I guess we’ve had a bad combination of high humidity, esp foggy overnight and light to no wind but the ground also seems quite saturated in a lot o...f places. Sometimes in winter we get this situation where it just takes ages to dry and the ground water won’t go away. Conditions are looking a bit better through this week. On the brighter side it’s good to see someone has been putting quite a bit of effort into draining puddles and closing the cheater lines Thanks So Much to everyone who has taken the time to help make things better. Does seem a shame that we have people taking short-cuts in the first place but we do have a huge influx of new riders ATM, hopefully over time people get it that they’re just ruining the ride for themselves. Often those same short-cuts are causing the drainage and puddling problems vicious circle that riding in the wet sets up. Anyway here’s hoping for some better weather soon, see you on the trails! Mick,
25.01.2022 Ausgrid will be doing slashing work in the powerline easements over the next month. Should be only small areas at a time and mostly minimal impact on the MTB trails, they will have controls in place for the actual worksites. Just a heads-up. 23.01.2022 Rocky Trail Shimano MTB Grand Prix is on at Glenrock this Saturday. The organisers as well as the NPWS field staff are around the trails doing a bit of maintenance prior to the event, most likely on Kenny's, Twisties and Re-load. They are also slashing around the Quarry Loop. Keep an eye out, you may have to walk around a work site.
22.01.2022 Why do I always seem to start these updates with things have been really slow lately? Guess ‘cause that’s how things have been going, what a year. Well suddenly things are starting to fall into place. A lot of people have been asking when will we get back to volunteer build days, thanks so much to everyone who cares. You know the story, we haven’t been able to have groups under C19 restrictions. Well that’s been eased now but like everyone the NPWS have had to make permanen...Continue reading
22.01.2022 Found - Gopro yesterday afternoon. Please respond if you think it's yours.
21.01.2022 Part 4 Continued From Posts Below So I turned my attention to the Glossy Plan. At this stage I’m thinking if can smash this thing into shape all that the NPWS have to do is put it into their format and publish it. With my knowledge of all the restrictions and problems of the ‘old’ network and the World Trail plan as a starting point I should be able to produce a plan that will please everyone Easy!...Continue reading
20.01.2022 Things are starting to dry out but not great, if anyone has a look 'round this morning please post up a report.
20.01.2022 Sun's out, everything is still wet. We just had the most rain in a period for the last 5 years. MTB singletrack will take some days to dry out even with good weather. Management trails will be OK to ride - they are maintained to a different standard.
18.01.2022 From the NPWS - Hickson St. Glider Pad to close; The Hickson Street gliding pad in Glenrock State Conservation Area (SCA) will be temporarily closed to the public to support measures to protect the community from spread of COVID-19. The closure, as part of the state’s COVID-19 response, will take effect from Thursday 9th April from 10am and be reassessed following the Easter long weekend. The move is in line with state-wide closures of some high-use day visitor areas in natio...nal parks across NSW and means that access to the Hickson Street Gliding Pad will not be permitted. Access to Burwood Beach via the Hickson Street Walking Track will still be permitted while visitors follow social distancing measures. The closure is in response to tighter Australian and NSW Government health directives on social distancing and non-essential travel to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 in the wider community, and to support social distancing to protect against the spread of COVID-19. Dudley Beach Carpark and Scout Camp Road remain closed until further notice. Other areas in Glenrock SCA are currently open however Police and NPWS patrols in the area will continue to monitor park activity. Further closures may be required. Before walking out your door to exercise in a national park, people are reminded to check alerts for NSW national parks closures and changes to access things are changing regularly. For more information visit: www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/alerts This temporary closure is in the interests of public health and safety
17.01.2022 April 2020 Catch-up Part 2 Following on from the previous post below. So at this point we had what was becoming a very familiar situation NPWS being a State Gov body had no funding and MTB wasn’t getting the attention it deserves. Like a lot of things these days it all came down to money and we had none....Continue reading

13.01.2022 Management trail work - from the NPWS; Management Trail maintenance works- From Tuesday 21st April (for 2 weeks) maintenance works will be occurring on a number management and fire trails in Glenrock State Conservation Area. The trails include Gun Club, Yuelarbah Management Trail, Bailey’s Fire Trail, Easement Trail, Sewer Link Trail and Banksia Fire Trail. The individual trails will be closed to the general public (road closed signs will be put in place) during the works f...or the safety of the community and contractors. Cyclists and pedestrians must not enter areas of track works. The work will only impact one track section at a time and will only be a limited time on each track. There is not the capacity for staff to putting place detour signs as the contractor progresses. It is essential track maintenance that we have managed to secure funding for a short notice hence and quick turnaround. I also appreciate it will impact on park users and how the reserve and track network is used in the short term. Yuelarbah Walking Track Upgrade works - From the 4th May the Yuelarbah Management Trail from the car park to the easement and walking track will be closed to the public in order to upgrade a 400m section of the walking track.

08.01.2022 Part 5 - Continued on from below - With things held up as much as they have been I still haven’t stopped dreaming. There are options available to us which are permissible under the current Plan of Management and I’ve been continuing to push for those....Continue reading

07.01.2022 GTA Catch-Up April ‘20 It’s been quite awhile since we had much to share on the MTB trail front. There’s been no build days or meetings happening and normally that’s where most of our publicity happens. The NPWS have a ban on all volunteer work ATM....Continue reading
07.01.2022 Just a heads-up for people wanting to ride this Saturday Oct. 10. The Rocky Trail Shimano MTB Grand Prix event is on, official run time is from 9am to 4pm. They are based at the Gun Club Rd. entrance so there will be lots of riders and vehicles around that area. This is an endurance event so riders will be lapping the course many times over. The park isn't closed to the public but it will be very busy so please be aware.

01.01.2022 April 2020 Catch-Up Part 3 Following on from the previous post below. Now even though we had no real money we had some sponsorship. Port to Port and Drift Bikes had both sponsored build days and NPWS had a small budget for maintenance, we had been making the most of that. We rebuilt the Cliff Jumps, done a big referb on Snakes & Ladders amongst other things. The major works on Seismick was our initiative to tackle the weeds and get a better result for the MTB trail, win-win...Continue reading
