25.01.2022 Expression of Interest - GSSC Bar Manager The Bar at the Glenunga Hub operates under the licence of the Glenunga Sports and Social Club (GSSC). The members of the GSSC are the Glenunga Football Club, Glenunga Cricket Club and Old Ignatians Soccer Club. After 5 years of operation in the new Hub facilities the GSSC is undertaking a review of the operation of the bar.... 22.01.2022 For those of you that aren’t aware of the costs of running a cricket club here’s a picture of $15k of equipment for the upcoming season, balls representing the majority of the cost. We have not audited the 15 junior kits yet and expect another large spend shortly. 21.01.2022 ACTA Notice Following on from this mornings lockdown briefing, we remind all clubs and supporters that community sport remains on the prohibited list. Clubs should NOT be arranging internal matches for either tomorrow or next weekend. Training CANNOT commence next week. We will provide further updates as information comes to hand and for now recommend clubs look to recommence training (and T20s - Round 3) from Tuesday 1st December and weekend matches from Fri Dec 4 (some juniors), Senior mens on Sat Dec 5 (Round 5) and remaining juniors and womens on Sunday. 21.01.2022 With the black clay coming in very late due to the recent wet weather, today I got to do some much needed repairs to the Webb Oval square. With the club investing in some expensive growth mats we expect these to be growing very quickly over the next week and ready for the weekend’s games, fingers crossed.

19.01.2022 On Sunday our under 16 Glenungs C.C. Division 1 side played Gaza C.C. in a two day match. Glenunga batted first Riley and Jack (90 ) opening the batting. As you can see they got our Team off to a brilliant start. Harry was again a mainstay this time at number 3 and batted really well. Another highlight was the lower order batting of Kevin. His determination and grit was a great example to all. I am sure if we had 11 players we would have batted our 60 overs. This will be a r...eal Team goal for batters to use the full 60 overs. Still considering how long the grass was it was a commendable effort. Special thanks to Baz ( Our curator ) Mr Stapleton and Mr Parsons for doing the lions share of the Umpiring. It was also great to have Andrew Tyson A.T.C.A. umpire officiating. A reminder to all players that have exam commitments please don't come to training, study first. This will have no effect upon your selection in our Teams. Also well done to our Division 2 under 16 side. Having dismissed the opposition Walkerville C.C. for 94. Glenunga C.C. are 2 for 58 with Cameron Nibblet 40 runs having a very consistent year. Also Eli (Captain) snaring 4 wickets with his ever evolving leg spin. 18.01.2022 A very proud moment for our Glenunga A grade cricket Team. Today we played Marion C.C. in a one day game @ home. Glenunga C.C. was sent in and accumulated 4/198 v Marion all out 92.. Smithy batted well and compiled a solid half century. Ollie Cooke our Vice Captain scored an even 50 backed up with 3 wickets. Matt ( M.S.) Prior played a brilliant counter attacking innings of 67 n.o. Ollie Parsons great line and length, Jack Norris ( 2 wickets ) Sam Neave ( gave a clinic in f...light and smarts ) Tangles was back to his brilliant best with the bat and ball. Oscar Alpine was outstanding in the field. Kingy showed today why he is our keeper with further improvement shown. Riley slotted in well into the opening batting spot and his handy medium pacers will get us plenty of wickets. Last but certainly not least was our Skipper Zac Norris. One word outstanding. 16.01.2022 Dear Glenunga Cricket Club Members, As you might know, I’ve had the great honour of serving on the SACA Board for a little over a year now. In that time I have come to learn much about the complexity of running the game in this State along with hosting an annual test match and overseeing the performance of the State’s Premier teams. SACA is in the middle of some major projects implementing the recommendations of the Hussey Review, along with management of the organisation sev...erely affected by COVID 19. Stability at board level is more important now than ever. I have learnt much about the qualities and abilities of fellow board members. Andrew Sinclair, Rod Phillips and Caroline Rhodes bring different skills, all of which make a vital contribution to this board. The three of them are up for re-election this year and I think it really important they are all returned. If any of you are SACA members and have not voted, I encourage you to retrieve the email you would have received enabling you to do so and to vote for Andrew, Rod and Caroline. 15.01.2022 The Glenunga C.C. Division 1 side. Today was the second day of our 2 day clash v Grange C.C. Last week Glenunga batted first and scored 268 all out 59 overs. Stars with the bat were Capt. Veer with a classy 97runs. Jack Matchet was brutal with the bat and plundered 66 Gouldy made a very patient 32. Also Harry Orchard batted well for 21 runs.There were some very good partnerships right through the innings. Today it was Glenunga C.C.'s turn to bowl. Grange C.C. really placed... pride in their wickets. Well coached by good friend Wayne Sweeney. Glenunga C.C. was made to work work hard in the field. Two of their players passed fifty. Ollie Parsons started the game as our keeper, for 30 overs and did an excellent job. He was to later bowl his pace and spin and was successful with both. Kevin was really good in the field, two excellent catches and great voice. Riley chipped in with 2 wickets, as did SEB. But pick of the bowlers was Gouldy ( 1 for 11 off 10 overs ) who created several opportunities but we were unable to capitolise. We fielded well in patches and that can certainly improve with practice. We are happy to win, but we will only improve as a group as time goes on. A big positive was that the lads kept the energy alive right till the last ball. Grange C.C. finished at 8 for 200. Above is a picture of the Team. See more

14.01.2022 Message to Members - See below Cricket Lovers, The season is fast approaching and although we haven’t had great weather, most teams are coming together well. At this stage we are looking like having the following teams;... 6 U/10 Teams 6 U/12s and possibly another U/12 girls team 3 U/14s 2 U/16s 4 Senior teams Coaches We have coaches for most teams and are currently finalising the players for each team. We still require coaches for 2 U/10 teams, 3 U/12s and an U/14 team. For those who are interested in coaching, remember the incentive of $150 off your childs (one of your children if you have more than one!) subscriptions for all coaches! We will be in contact shortly to let you know which team you are in. Scorers This season, we are keen to have as many games as possible ‘live scored’ using the Mycricket app. It makes scoring much simpler and saves the coach or manager a lot of time inputting the scores every week after the game! It is also a brilliant way for those not at the game to be able to see what is happening! It is best if someone who knows the app does the scoring each week, so we are keen for each team to have a couple of people prepared to score for each team (so it can be shared if needed). The club has purchased 8 iPads to assist with those teams/scorers who don’t have their own. We will also be offering $10 drinks cards for use at the bar for each scorer, each game! Learning to Score Night Wednesday 14th October at 6pm. We will be holding a short session at the HUB where people who will be scoring can come along and learn how to do it using the Mycricket app. It won’t take more than an hour! A reminder that the season commences on the following dates Seniors Saturday 17th October U/10s, 12s, 14s & 16s Sunday 18th October Girls U/12s & U/16s Friday 23rd October Season Launch A great way to start each season is at our season launch. This year it will be on Thursday night, 15th October commencing at 6pm. The bar will be open and a BBQ with sausages and burgers will be operating. We hope to see everyone at this event so we can meet new players and their families and create some club feel prior to the start on that weekend. I hope to see you all there!

12.01.2022 Training & Teams - read below Hi all, Hope everyone doing well and stay safe.... I am so delighted to write to all cricket lovers that we will have our regular cricket season despite of recent issues due to pandemic. However of course we will have to act differently to response to the pandemic and I will come back to you with further details in near future. Secondly we are so lucky to have professional coach this year helping for seniors and under 16 juniors. Some of you already met Tony, and all of are very much expecting to work with him. Tony has confirmed that senior training will be starting from 20th September 2020 from 10.00 - 12.00pm at Webb Oval. He will confirm the training schedule for future on that day. Please see following points from Tony; 1. Please do bring your personal gears, water bottle, food etc as no sharing is possible due to pandemic. 2. Players can bring their own practice ball or can use club balls 3. Please always wear club practice shirt or a white coloured shirt as it is necessary for batters to see the ball well. 4. Weekly selection is based on attendance to practice sessions and hence encourage all players to attend for training. This year we will be deploying 4 senior teams. Hi everyone, Taught and Bowled is offering two cricket programs during the upcoming school holidays. Cricket Camps Taught and Bowled will be running two cricket camps during the Christmas school holidays. The camps run over three days and will be held at Parkinson Oval, Kensington Gardens Reserve. They are a great chance to improve your skills, to have fun and to get your cricket fix during the school holidays. The camps are open to cricketers 8-12 years of age and are ideal for a young cricketer who is playing school or club cricket. Camp #1 Wednesday December 16 to Friday December 18 Camp #2 Tuesday January 19 to Thursday January 21 Each camp has half-day and full-day options: Half-day from 9:00-11:30am each day Full-day from 9:00am-2:30pm each day All aspects of cricket will be covered including fitness, field settings, captaincy, cricket knowledge, batting skills, bowling skills, fielding skills, wicket keeping skills and video analysis. The third day of each camp is our ‘Match Day’ where players will get to play games of cricket against each other. Please click here for further details. Individual Coaching Taught and Bowled will be offering individual cricket coaching sessions at Kensington District Cricket Club during the Christmas school holidays. Coaching is available to cricketers 8-15 years of age. Players can choose to focus on batting, pace bowling, spin bowling, wicket keeping or a combination. The coaching is delivered in a four day block with players receiving 3 x individual coaching sessions and 1 x competitive session. 09.01.2022 Senior Cricket Training & T20 - Read below Hi all, Hope everyone is doing well and had a very good weekend.... Our club coach Tony Adams has confirmed that senior training will be on every Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6.00pm onward going forward. No Sunday training again unless it has been notified separably. Please make sure to add these two days to your diary as there will be no emails notifications for regular training dates again for this season. Secondly, if you have not put down your name for T20 games which the first game will be on coming Saturday (10th of October) at 1.00pm, please do so. Tony will select the team on this Thursday. Also, as confirmed previously all senior players will have to register via MyCricket before playing for this summer. If you have not registered yet, please register as early as possible. All ATCA matches and club training sessions have been cancelled for the next 14 days. Further advice will be provided in due course. This announcement includes all levels of ATCA cricket, including Woolworths Cricket Blast programs. SA Health has highlighted a number of venues of concern and any person that has visited these venues should follow the relevant direction to seek testing, self-isolate and monitor for symptoms. Details of these locations are available on the SA Health website here. We appreciate that there is a level of uncertainty being faced by our clubs.
