21.01.2022 Step back in time

20.01.2022 Even though the 2020 season has been cancelled the Glen Waverley Hawks have aggressively started planning for 2021. Typically our courageous skipper, Mitchell Potts, is leading the way, signing on for next season. Be like Mitch and show your ongoing support for the club by committing your signature to the 2021 playing list. ‘The work has begun for ‘21’... Go Hawks

19.01.2022 The letter ‘N’ in GWFNC stands for Netball. Netball is a key component of our club and the efNl and thus we are committed to resourcing and funding netball for the 2021 season. Our netball program is in dire need of a Coordinator/Director/Coach for next season. The person we are looking for will drive the netball program and be a key member of the Club’s committee structure. To be a valid community sporting club, we need a strong and dynamic netball program. Please get in contact with General Manager Steve Cook (Mob: 0409 503 869) if you are (or know the person who is) the right type of netball aficionado we are seeking. Go Hawks.

18.01.2022 ***FOOTBALL/NETBALL OPERATIONS - WORKING PARTY UPDATE*** Unfortunately COVID 19 has put us all into lockdown once again, including our designated Working Party teams. Once the State is back and firing again, we will swing back into action stronger even more determined to succeed.... Player retention and recruitment will remain a strong off season focus, so if you are intending to recommit to 2021 and/or have a mate who wants to join the club, then please let Dylan, Drew or Steve P know. Lots of landscaping work is happening at Central Reserve of late, meaning GWH players will again be on one of the premier EFNL grounds for 2021. Stay fit, stay safe and importantly stay connected to the club and your team mates over the next few weeks. ‘The work will continue to be done for ‘21 (when Dan let’s us back into the sun).

10.01.2022 Good Morning All, Following on from the signing of our captain Mitchell Potts for 2021, I am pleased to announce that Dylan Price (Senior Coach) and Drew Withers (Reserves Coach) have been reappointed for the 2021 season. 10.01.2022 A must read for our players, supporters & the wider GW Hawks community.

09.01.2022 *A message from our GM, Steve Cook* The hiatus in the 2020 football/netball season has provided an opportunity for the Club to reset and ambitiously prioritise key improvement targets for the 2021 season. To do this the Club intends to set up 3 key working parties which will i) coordinate preparation for 2021, ii) oversee role clarity for future committees and iii) outline a clear Strategic Vision for the club over the next 3 years.... The jurisdiction for the working parties will cover: 1. Football/ Netball operations 2. Strategic Planning and Governance 3. Sponsorship/Marketing/Community Partnerships Over the next week or so, I will outline in greater detail the role of each working party and suggest a range of discussion points and aspirational targets we should be aiming to achieve. The existing committee will join at least one of the working parties with opportunities for players, supporters and people with specific skills and knowledge to be co-opted as members. If the GWHFNC wants to be a powerhouse of the EFNL, then we need to realign to a new Vision Plan, supported by a strong Business Plan. A strong community sporting club must ask itself two key questions as it seeks to develop a strategic vision. They are: 1. Is the club giving to the game and community equally? 2. Does the club have an authentic focus on where it wishes to establish credibility? Becoming a member of one of these working parties will enable you to have direct input into the future direction of this club. Please contact me if you are interested. ‘The work has begun for ‘21’

09.01.2022 A big welcome to Scott (Bobby) Davis for season 2021. After successful periods for the Knox and East Burwood FC’s we are very excited to see Scott weave his magic at Central Reserve next season. Scott is a quick and skillful midfielder/forward who should quickly become a fan favourite amongst the Hawks faithful. As well as adding to the playing group, Scott has also taken on a playing Assistant Coach role. With his extensive playing background and highly developed inter personal skills, our young playing group will no doubt benefit from working with Scott. Get around Scott and ‘Go Hawks’

06.01.2022 Round 1 Junior games completed. All 3 teams won on a cold, wet, windy deck. 12s - 6.7.43 defeated Chirnside Park 0.1.1 15s - 7.7.49 defeated The Basin 2.7.19 17s - 20.18.138 defeated The Basin 0.3.3... Well done to our 12s who played their first game of competitive football today. To our 15s and 17s (merged with Waverley Blues), it was fantastic to see your teamwork as you adjusted to playing with new team mates. Congratulations to players, parents, coaches and volunteers for all your hardwork in getting Season 2021 off the ground. Go Hawks!!!

05.01.2022 Soon to be dubbed the MCG equivalent of the EFNL, a lot of landscaping work is taking place at Central Reserve with ground improvement, additional seating, grandstand refurbishments and planting. The old scoreboard will shortly be replaced by a state of the art electronic version. What a ground for sponsors to advertise at! Imagine your company featuring on the new electronic scoreboard and featuring predominantly on our Game Face page. What a club, what a cohesive playing gr...oup, what a great venue and what a great opportunity to maximise your sponsorship dollars!! Get on board the GWHFNC for season 2021. ‘The work has begun for ‘21’

04.01.2022 A few goals kicked in the third term by both sides. Hopefully our boys can turn it around and a show on in the last! Go Hawks! #GWFNC #EFNL #GoHawks

03.01.2022 The Toyota Good for Footy Raffle helps raise much needed funds for clubs like ours to be able to afford things such as training equipment. With the clubs revenue streams all being switched off due to COVID-19 we ask that you dig deep and support our club. We get 100% of the ticket sales and you could walk away with a car or one of the other fantastic prizes thanks to Toyota.

03.01.2022 The work has begun for '21 A strong sporting club will be judged not only by the results achieved on the court/field, but also by its culture, the values it espouses (and lives by) and the quality of the people associated with the organisation. To ensure our football and netball teams have the best chance to succeed in 2021, our first working party,’Football/Netball Operations’ is seeking participants.... The key targets and duties for this working party will include: * the establishment of a senior coaching panel to support Dylan Price and Drew Withers * the appointment of a chairman of selectors * the creation of a Recruitment sub committee * overseeing of the salary cap ( likely to be around $60,000 in line with the new AFL/ EFNL guidelines) * the appointment of a club Welfare Support coordinator * the establishment of an active and viable Past Players group * player function coordination leaders * establishment of an U19 team and appointment of a coaching group * a viable and independent Junior football committee * a viable, strong and ongoing Junior football program * the appointment of a Director of Netball to oversee and grow the program Obviously none of the above will happen without the support and involvement of people associated with the GWHFNC. Get involved and lend your much needed support to this working party. If you are interested either Message or ring on 0409503869 and let me which of the above areas your individual focus might be on. Steve Cook, General Manager

02.01.2022 THREE QUARTER TIME A lovely third term has put us in good stead to put up a fight for a close final quarter! Come on Hawks! Bring it home!

02.01.2022 A message to our Supporters, Sponsors & Players. Stay safe Hawks Family

01.01.2022 ***FOOTBALL/NETBALL OPERATIONS - WORKING PARTY UPDATE*** Thank you to those club members who volunteered to join this working party. Unfortunately due to the increased COVID 19 regulations, I am postponing our first meeting until meeting numbers and the use of the club rooms has been clarified by Monash City council. It is pleasing to note that a numbers of players have already given their commitment to staying with the club for 2021. We will release details of this over ...the next few weeks. Others players wanting to also commit to next season are asked to contact Dylan Price, Drew Withers or Steve Potts. The Junior season will hopefully still go ahead. Senior players who would like to support the Junior program, either with training or on match days, are asked to let either Ryan Flack or Bec Snape know. There is strong support for a U19 side for 2021 from potential players, coaches and sponsors. The establishment of this team is a priority for next season. The working party still needs representation in the areas of: *Junior program (although this can probably wait until the end of the proposed 2020 abridged fixture) *Past Players *Director of Netball Get in contact if you can help - ‘The work has begun for ‘21’ Steve Cook - GM
