24.01.2022 Having systems in place to track your vital metrics in your biz is the difference between a biz that is steady and profitable v one that makes big disruptive changes and struggles. Watch this video for a more detailed explanation

24.01.2022 An origin story that could change your business forever As you may have worked out by now, I have been a business coach for a while, but it wasn’t’ until last year that a took my hobby/side hustle and turned it into a serious business. But what you might not know is that I did it with a business partner, John Tsoulos. Let me introduce John, he is not your typical accountant, he is a true entrepreneur, he is owner or co-owner in Indigo Financial (accountants), IFP Advisory (pr...operty investment advisors), Indigo Financial Advisors as well as Global Business Camps. The Global Business Camps are an annual 3-day intensive training event for business owners that John first started in 2001. The next camp is in July this year at the Gold Coast. The Camps follow the 6 Secrets methodology that John has developed to help his businesses and thousands of others prosper. The secrets are 1. Begin with the end in mind 2. Planning for success 3. Growing your business 4. Managing your business 5. Valuing your business 6. Freedom I approached John last year with the proposal to help span the support for attendees to the Camps in the form of ongoing business coaching. John thought the idea was the missing link in the process. While they had wanted to do it, they had been unable to find the right partner until I walked into his office. We quickly formed Global Business Coaching and have since helped over 30 businesses through what has been one of the hardest years in working history. An added advantage of working in our coaching programs over a year is you get a free seat to the next Global Business Camp (to be held from the 19th to the 21st of July, 2021 at the magnificent Hilton, Surfers Paradise). Want to find out more about our coaching programs or Global Business Camps comment or DM me the initials GBC and we will chat further or visit globalbusinesscamps.com.au.

22.01.2022 EXPERIMENT Have you made a Yew Years resolution to spend more time at home or not let work stop you from having quality time with your family? If you have, take 60 secs and read this. BACKGROUND:... We’ve spent 2020 coaching business owners how to run a business that is less reliant on them. And we have had great success and we want to see if we can get the same results in a shorter time frame 8 weeks EXPERIMENT: We don’t want to open the floodgates, and create a bottleneck, so... ...We are going to work with 10 business owners who are central to everything their business does develop strategies and tactics so that they can leave work at 5 every day with confidence. And if we can get them the same kind of results that our ongoing clients have achieved then we will role the program out to more people. WHY WE’RE DOING IT: We are passionate about stopping people sacrificing themselves and their families for their business. If we can get this right then we can remove owning a business as a cause of family break down and divorce. The failure of a relationship generates a high emotional and financial cost, if we can prevent one relationship failure then we have succeeded. Unfortunately, not everyone can afford our ongoing program, so we are trialling this shorter program to see if we can help more people. WHO IS IT FOR: This program is for you if you own a business have a team of 5 or more you are central to everything that happens in the business you spend majority of you day fixing problems, many your team should have dealt with. you’re willing to be coached, have 1-2 hours to commit to the process each week will follow a plan for 8 weeks Finally, if you get the results we're expecting, do a quick interview to tell your story and allow us to use that in future marketing Does this sound like you? WHAT TO DO NEXT: If you fit the criteria above, and want to be part of our experiment, please comment with the word EXPERIMENT. We'll contact you to have a quick 5-10 minute call to show you what we're doing, and see if we can help. We expect to get quite a bit of interest, and will start with 10 people who we know we can get results for. Thanks for reading. Look forward to talking soon.

20.01.2022 JULY 2013 Two hours. Five weeks and then what? Oblivion, disaster, the end of the company? I don't know Two hours to go before I take five weeks leave. Not just five weeks normal leave, I'm going four-wheel driving down the Canning Stock Route with my son and a few friends. We'll be out of mobile phone contact for five weeks. I am full of mixed emotions; excited about a trip of a lifetime with my son, yet almost paralysed with fear at leaving my business for five weeks. No...Continue reading

18.01.2022 More Free Time = More Effective It sounds like an oxymoron doesn’t it. How can you have more free time and be more effective? But I have seen it happen in my life and in the life of my clients. But it starts with a shift in thinking. Most people see life as a grind, we worship the idea of the hustle, of being busy. But busy is the opposite of being effective, and it is the enemy of free time.... One of the best tools I use to help give a person clarity about how effective they are is to get them to track their time. They record what they do every day and group it into 4 buckets. Your Task everyone has tasks they are supposed to do in the business On the Biz as an owner or senior manager you need to spend some time working on the business, depending upon the size of your team will determine how much time this is from a few hours each week to the majority of a week. Helping others no matter what role we play in the business we spend time helping others achieve their tasks Miscellaneous the bucket you put your time in that is busy work doing something but not really anything. At the end of a few weeks you look at the patterns, you should be spending most of your time on Your Tasks and On the Biz. If you’re like most small business owners you are probably spending majority of time Helping Others and on Miscellaneous tasks. You are probably working longer than everyone else in your business getting less free time than your want. The good news is that with a few minor changes you can easily reduce your working hours and increase your effectiveness. These strategies are all contained in our Time Maximiser coaching program. We are so confident that this program will get you 10 hours back in your working week that we guarantee the results so what have you got to lose? Want to find out more? Just comment time below or DM me to start the conversation.

13.01.2022 ARE YOU A GOOD PARTY HOST? Happy Ney Year a group of friends declare happily, they turn to one another and hug at the culmination of one of the best parties they have ever been to. Did it happen by accident or was it created? We have all been to those parties that we will never forget. But they are often created not a fluke.... There are three types of party planners. There are people like my wife who cultivate the invitation list, prepare the right food and drinks to suit the occasion and add a few key events or activities to ensure that the party gets started and keep it going. Sometimes the planned events fall a little flat or feel a little forced but by the end of the night the party is usually a success. (in 2020 we had a 50thzoom party, and while we were worried about how it would work, our detailed planning resulted in a night most will not forget, we definitely will not.) There are other parties that I’ve been to where the host gets some random friends together, adds food and drink and hopes it will be a great night, like in was in 2010. Sometimes it happens, but most times it’s just OK. And sadly, there is a third kind. We have all been to the party when the host or hosts just don’t want to be there. Maybe they had an argument before you arrived, or maybe they have just had a bad day. Either way the negative energy kills the vibe and the party is more of a quiet gathering. SO, WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH BUSINESS? I was speaking to a client last year who was commenting about how they were feeling trapped by their business and didn’t want to go to the office. If this was to continue, like it often does the owner starts to feel resentment to their business, their team and their customers. The place is full of negative energy. Its not fun to work there and eventually business retracts. Its just like a bad party. Many owners, especially start-ups, are like the hopeful party organiser. Bring together a few people to work with them, reach out to a few customers and hope that magic will happen, often it does, but according to statistics it often fails. The final owner is one that prepares a business plan, recruits for specific skills and culture, engages with their customers, has staff meetings, team building activities, innovates and adapts as needed. Sometimes what they do feels a bit forced at first, but more often than not they build a business that is successful. So what type of party organiser are you, a planner, hope and pray or a grumpy host? Let me know?

07.01.2022 Should a business owner work more hours than anyone else in their business? Thoughts?

07.01.2022 The power of a deadline 5.52pm, I’m in the car, my dog is in the car, the kids are in the car where is my wife. We said we’d leave at 5.30 I hate holidays. Well, I don’t hate holidays, I love them, I just hate when we don’t leave on time. But every time we drive to a holiday destination this happens, someone in the family is still fiddling around inside the house after the deadline I set for when we should have left. Contrast to when we travel by plane.... 7.30am car is packed, I return to the house to finalise a few last-minute things and guess what everyone is ready, and we aren’t due to leave for another 15 minutes. So, we leave early and I drive down to the airport feeling relieved we are away early. Why were we late for one holiday and early for another? Did we do more when driving compared with flying? No, if anything we had more to organise when flying. The answer is simple, it’s the power of a real deadline. When we travel by plane we have one opportunity, the plane leaves at a given time, and if you are late you miss it. While when we drive if we leave late, we leave late, no real consequence. The result is we leave early for planes and late when we drive and I have to manage my frustration. So how does this relate to work? Have you ever noticed that when a customer gives you a fixed deadline that you get the work done by that deadline? And if there is no deadline that the job seems to stretch on forever. It’s the same thing. What we need to do is look for opportunities to create deadlines to drive us and out team. One of the easiest ones that most of us use is sales. In the last few days of a month, we hustle to get jobs finished and invoiced so we maximise sales in that month. There are many other opportunities to create deadlines to drive improved business performance, here are some that I use Cash in the bank, we have a minimum cash level in my fire protection business, when we get below that we hustle with debtors to get money into the bank. Timely delivery of work we have a rule that all repair work is done within 2 weeks, if not then the boss finds out (that’s me) and asks questions (no one wants me hassling them). So, the jobs get done. Sales as we spoke above, we have a budget for each month, and we do everything we can to exceed that budget. Social media posts If you are still reading, awesome, I have trained you to expect a post every weekday, if I don’t do that I feel I have let you down, so I post each day. Coaching content There is a group coaching call coming up, I need to provide value, so I research and collate the content to distribute the workbooks the day before the session, no mater what is happening, I get it done. There are many others in my businesses and yours, use them to your advantage to drive productivity and efficiency. What are the deadlines in your business?

06.01.2022 Is it important to monitor KPIs or does it distract from the real work of your business? DiscussIs it important to monitor KPIs or does it distract from the real work of your business? Discuss

03.01.2022 Stressed and Busy? We have all had those days, when you are constantly moving from one emergency to another, solving this problem with a customer, sorting an invoice problem out with your admin team, sorting out a delivery issue with a supplier and the list goes on. At the end of the day, you collapse into your car to drive home exhausted, but with none of your work done and more on your to-do-list than you started with. And the good news, is you do it all again tomorrow.... Sometimes this is a short-term problem (like when I bought another business and had to integrate it into my existing business) while other times this is what we do every day. If you are doing it every day then you are stressed, busy and your business is not really moving forward. Compare this with the business owner who always seems to be relaxed, effective and has a business that is also moving forward. From the outside it looks like they get it easy, but they didn’t always have it easy, they used to be like you, but they have chosen to run their business differently and like I was, you probably aren’t even aware that you have a choice. Our Time Maximiser coaching program gets you back 10 hours in your working week, and one of the ways it does this is by looking at your ACTIVITY how you spend your time. To move from busy and stressed to relaxed and effective you must be clear about what your goals are For your life - what will your business provide you financially and what will you give it (time and financial investment) For your business who does it serve, what is its purpose, what are the financial benchmarks that you will meet (turnover, profit etc) When you are clear on your goals you have taken the first step of moving towards being a relaxed and effective business owner. Want to find out about how to choose a different way of managing your business? Comment choice below or DM me and we can chat about it.
