As an international student is entitled to work up to 40 hours fortnightly during term time and full-time during vacations. A student can earn from $16 to $25 per hour ie $1280 - $2000 per month to meet the living expenses. A student can bring their spouse on a dependent visa who can work as full-time employment. If you have enrolled for a Masters Research program under subclass 574 the visa holders can work unlimited hours once their higher degree by research course has commenced. Family members of students who have started masters or doctorate course on a subclass 573, 574 or 576 student visa may work unlimited hours and can undertake studies for not more than three months. This facility enables the family members to gain international work experience and earn their livelihood while the visa holder acquires education. After the successful completion of a Bachelors or Masters, a student can apply for a two-year Post-Study work permit and becomes eligible for applying for Permanent residence visa.
