25.01.2022 Sunset on the Atlantic Coast

23.01.2022 No trip to Barcelona is complete until you've visited the Sagrada Familia basilica. Construction commenced in 1882 under another architect, with Gaudi taking over a year later, until his death in 1926 (he got skittled by a tram). It was thought that it would never be completed, certainly that was the sentiment when I was here in 1985, so to see it now is amazing. Word on the street is that it's scheduled for completion in 2026, 100 years since Gaudi died. It's easy to get jaded travelling through Europe - there's an expression ABC (Another Bloody Cathedral), or also AFC. In this case, it's so "out there" that it's hard not to be impressed (in me 'umble opinion).

22.01.2022 4WD drive trip into the Sahara Desert to watch the sunset. It was a great experience. We met a nomadic family of goatherders along the way. The border with Algeria is on the other side of the dunes, less than 20km away.

20.01.2022 After our stay in Val Thorens, we had three days in Lyon. Sitting at the junction of the Rhône and Saône rivers, it’s France’s 3rd largest city. If you are planning a trip to France, we can thoroughly recommend spending a few days in Lyon. You’ll have a great opportunity to sample lots of the local foods, and the wines are pretty good, too. You should try to stay in the area La Presqu’lle. It has lots of great architecture and many restaurants cooking great local fare.

20.01.2022 Our last stop was Park City in Utah for more of the white stuff.

18.01.2022 Staying at a Club Med resort in the village of Val Thorens. At 2300m it’s the highest elevated ski village in Europe. The village forms part of the 3 Vallees linked ski area, which is one of the world’s largest linked ski areas. Club Med provide fully inclusive packages which include accommodation, all meals, open bar, nightly entertainment and daily group guided lessons.

17.01.2022 The recent posts from Spain and Portugal were from our trip around these two countries on an Insight Vacations coach tour which we completed a couple of days ago. The 15 day tour was their "Best of Spain and Portugal" tour. They offer other tours as do a variety of other tour companies. Please contact us if you'd like more information.

16.01.2022 My mother used to always tell me that money didn't grow on trees. She never said anything about goats!!

14.01.2022 The medina is essentially the old walled city. Fes' medina apparently dates from the 800's. The labyrinth of narrow alleyways certainly takes one back in time. It was a great opportunity to experience how the locals live.

12.01.2022 Our adventures continue as we moved on to Casablanca, Morocco's capital. The city is dusty and a bit chaotic, mirroring the traffic. The beachfront area, the Corniche, is lined with cafes and resorts with private beaches, although there are still public areas. Unfortunately, it's mostly rundown and jaded; still its a good area to catch the sea breeze on a hot day. Taxi travel was a hoot - most that we used didn't have functioning seatbelts.

11.01.2022 We also visited a tannery and got to see some of the processes involved. Looks as though this place hasn't changed in centuries. Me thinks that the aroma would have been really ripe on a very hot day!!

09.01.2022 Jemaa el-Fnaa is Marrakesh's main square. As sunset approaches, the square fills with food stalls. The place can be very crowded but has a great vibe to it.

09.01.2022 Finally, there’s light at the end of the tunnel with state borders progressively re-opening!! Now more than ever, its time to rediscover what our wonderful country has to offer. We are truly blessed with the incredible diversity of flora, fauna and landscapes. We produce some of the best food and wines in the world, along with some stunning destinations at which to sample them. Last year, over 6.5 million Australians travelled overseas. It would be fantastic to replicate t...hat around Australia instead. 07.01.2022 Essaouira is on Morocco's Atlantic coast, around 400km south of Casablanca. It dates back to 5th century BC. Fishermen still take to the seas from here. Sadly, this area figured prominently in the slave trade.

07.01.2022 Wandering through the souk in the medina.

06.01.2022 Dinner at Rick’s Cafe on our last night in Morocco. Of all the gin joints, in all the towns, in all the world and she walks into mine...... a shame that the movie was only filmed in California

05.01.2022 Bunnings Morocco

02.01.2022 Moroccan people mover??
