22.01.2022 Global Tackle News October 2016 Fishing Report Sydney Harbour has been hotting up the past two weeks with many baitfish schools attracting Tailor, Salmon and the odd king. Heaps of fun to be had on light spin gear with small metals. Keep your eye open for birds activity and or concentrate your fishing around middle harbour and the spit bridge area or the wedding cake channel marker at first light as there have been some Kingfish actions.... Botany Bay has seen the Kingfish slow down, fish are still being caught but not in the large numbers. Early morning pelagic surface actions, change of light and high tide have been producing best results. Maroubra & Coogee beaches have seen the arrival of whiting which have been caught on frozen beach worms and gulp worms and should be viable surface targets as well in the coming weeks as temperatures rise. Flathead and flounder have been joined by whiting around Brighton le sand, Storm twitching nippers and other small soft plastic have been working really well. Whiting are hitting surface lures, so may be targeted in this way. The rocks ledges and beaches around Sydney have been fishing well for Salmon which is a great light line sport fish. Big kingfish are still patrolling the rocks though not in the numbers of last month. Drummer, Blackfish and bream is still available from the wash off the rocks. Squid have come on strong in most of the coastal spots. The new Yamashita range of Aussie Limited colour has been a stand out around Bare Island and Yarra Bay. Big Calamari have been hitting bigger jig around Malabar and Julienne. This month we running a photo competition and three of the best photo will win great prize of Angel Tackle Lures. Photo for the competition can be submitted thru Global Tackle group page in Facebook https://web.facebook.com/groups/140584062747216/ Submit your best fishing photo before the 30th of November 2016. The winners will be judge by the quality of the photo not the size of the catch.

19.01.2022 Oil Spill CleanUp Still Happening in Sydney Harbour. Our Environment Minister Speakman ignores the threat to biodiversity and marine life and tries to bullshit... us into thinking that one leaked barrel of oil takes 10 days to clean up. Wake up. I just went down and saw the pumps still going and oil all over the place. By the looks of it its all over the rocks and we know for a fact that the blue groper love this rocky foreshore and habitat. Minister Speakman says its a working Harbour and still he wants to lock anglers out under the Hawkesbury Bioregion Plan he is hiding from us. I wonder if Fisheries are keeping an eye on things , their office is a stones throw away. How much will Shell/ VIVA be fined this time for another "accident". Once again Minister Speakman, how safe is our seafood to eat, will you ever answer this question.... http://www.smh.com.au//oil-spill-at-viva-energy-depot-in-s Pumps still working 10 days after the spill. 11.01.2022 Global Tackle News Fishing Report Trevally and Tailor started to show up in good numbers around the Eastern Suburb rock ledges and Botany Bay as well with the usual spot hold healthy population. Spot like Molineaux point and the third runway for boat base angler and most of the ocean rock ledges for land based option. ... Squid has been plenty before the storm, although a few odd specimen taken by those who put in the effort. Blackfish and black drummer has been on the chew, with the odd bream and snapper throw in for those fishing in the wash. While Georges River and Cooks River has a few Jewfish and the best method to connect with the silver ghost is live Yellowtail and fresh Squid. Outside, the Peak has plenty of Kingfish with a few Anglers bag out within couple of hours jigging and 12miles reef hold a few odd Kingfish. While for those willing to venture further east to Browns mountain was rewarded by big Yellowfin Tuna with a few of them being unstoppable. 09.01.2022 Fishing on Pier 2/3 and Pier 8 in Walsh Bay? DPI is aware more people are fishing on Pier 8 now that construction works on Pier 2/3 has reduced the fishing area... on that Pier. We have received some reports of fishing mess and anti-social behaviour on Pier 8 and we would like to remind fishers to do the right thing and respect our access to these Piers and keep them clean and tidy for other users. DPI continues to work closely with the Walsh Bay Precinct managers to address issues on the Piers. Cleaning of the Piers is continuing, Water Police patrols are underway at night, signage has been erected and our Fishcare team will be out and about over the next month talking to fishos. Recreational fishing groups are also doing their bit to spread the message about responsible fishing. Here are some tips when fishing on the Piers: Tip 1: Dont clean your fish or prepare your bait on the Pier pylons or balustrades. Instead, do your fish cleaning and bait prep on a plastic cutting board. You can pick these up at your local supermarket for a few dollars. Tip 2: During and after your fishing, make sure all your litter is stowed and disposed of. You may even want to do a quick walk around the Pier to pick up any litter that might have been left by fishers or other members of the public. Lead by example and hopefully others will realise that littering is not acceptable. Tip 3: Show respect and courtesy. The Walsh Bay Piers are busy, shared facilities with many users and residents. The Piers are there for the use and enjoyment of all. Tip 4: Keep noise to a minimum, especially at night. Remember, there are residents on Pier 6/7 and elsewhere in Walsh Bay. Enjoy your fishing but keep in mind the fact that other people might be trying to sleep. Tip 5: Tight lines and have fun fishing! Lets keep working together to do the right thing and show the community we fish responsibly and respectfully on these Piers and other wharves around Sydney Harbour.
