21.01.2022 In another world, Germany would dress up for Karneval this week, Venice would put on masks for Carnevale, New Orleans would go wild for Mardi Gras, and Rio would dance through Carnaval. People all over the world would traditionally celebrate one last time before the Catholic Lent season. This year, carnival is not the usual fun and carefree affair. COVID-19 restrictions limit what’s most important for carnival parties all around the world: To celebrate in community and have ...fun with friends and strangers. But even though you may not be able to let loose with lots of other people, you can still kick up your heels. And as disappointing as it may be not to celebrate carnival, playing is not restricted to dressing up during a single week, you can still let down your hair all year round. Playing and having fun is important 52 weeks a year. #play #52needs #emotioalproductivity #globalvillageskills #fun #celebration #carnival #Carnival2021

19.01.2022 We have come a long way in the last century. And we still have a long way to go. How you educate boys and girls, what rights and duties they are assigned in everyday life determine what men and women they become and whether they raise the next generation to fulfil their human potential or whether they fit into traditionally limiting roles. If we want to evolve global consciousness to ensure societal and economical progress, equality concerns everyone. How are you contributing? #equality #52needs #emotionalproductivity #emotionalintelligence #globalvillageskills #GVS #culturalintelligence

11.01.2022 I love difference. I relish exploring different beliefs and how they play out in a culture, both the visible (e.g. architecture, dress, food, habits, and rituals) and the invisible (e.g. how people deal with time and space, gender roles, and emotional expression). I love connecting with people and being mindful of culturally defined beliefs and behaviours. The one thing I have learned in all my meanderings in over fifty countries is that it’s easy to adjust my own cultural f...rameworks and accommodate beliefs and behaviours that don’t necessarily sit comfortably within my value system but that I can accept. There are, however, some things I will not compromise on. Foods I don’t eat, rituals I don’t participate in. So while I accommodate customs, I am also very aware of how I prefer to express myself emotionally, physically, verbally, behaviourally. And that, I think, is also part of being culturally intelligent: Being at home with myself. - What are your thoughts? What are you willing to conform to, what not? #selfexpression #52needs #emotionalproductivity #emotionalintelligence #globalvillageskills #GVS #culturalintelligence #culture #people #rituals

04.01.2022 Every culture dances. Some focus on arms and shoulders, others on hips, they all use their feet in different ways. The movement of dance is used to celebrate, integrate and remember. How do you dance? #movement #52needs #emotionalproductivity #emotionalintelligence #globalvillageskills #GVS #culturalintelligence #dancing #dance #culture
