23.01.2022 Good Morning, In January, the ATO announced it was taking firmer action regarding the federal government’s superannuation guarantee (SG) amnesty. Employers that registered for the amnesty program are now being contacted by the ATO to either pay the amount owed in full or enter into a payment plan. Those businesses failing to do so within 21 days of being contacted will face being disqualified from the schemeand potentially receiving penalties of up to 200% of outstanding ...superannuation guarantee amounts. This means that employers could pay up to twice what they owe in: Administration component of $20/employee Outstanding SG amounts General interest charge (10%) All media reports and ATO website resources indicate that no further extensions will be offered. It has been reported that 28,000 employers had disclosed unpaid super amounts under the amnesty scheme. If so, you may be eligible for School Transport Assistance which will effectively reimburse you for getting your kids to school. 01.01.2022 Good afternoon. It has been a little while since our last post. All staff are working furiously on 2020 tax returns and are about to start our 2021 tax planning season. JobKeeper will end on 31st March. Please touch base if you foresee a cashflow issue so we can be proactive with your banking institutions. IMPORTANTLY, Centrelink requires your 2020 income tax return to be lodged by 31st March 2021 to reconcile child care benefit for the year. If we have not lodged your 2020 tax returns, and you do receive child care benefit, please contact us urgently to let us know that you will need these returns lodged by this time next week.
