21.01.2022 Tales to Inspire: 'I would recommend this ride to anyone who loves riding, food, wine and the bush. The hospitality was second to none and all the meals were wonderful. I rode Shiloh, an Arab gelding. He was a great little horse and very forward moving - he and I lead out on some days. Our guides and hosts were great. Tiff is a very caring person who loves her horses to bits and was always there to help. Bernie, the second guide, was with us every day with a BIG smile and a w...onderful attitude. The whole family were awesome. I loved them all. Every day was great, but the ride to the river was my most memorable day. It was the biggest riding day and I loved the spectacular views on the way down to the river. It was quite a steep descent and climb back up, but the horses handled it with ease. I enjoyed the beach ride very much, too. Getting to ride a heavy horse was wonderful and we had some great canters.' - The Shoalhaven Ride ticked all the boxes for Alison Wood! https://www.globetrotting.com.au//the-shoalhaven-ride-aus/ See more

21.01.2022 Tales to Inspire: 'The team at Globetrotting are masters at helping you pick your dream horse riding holiday. I have now completed three rides through Globetrotting and each one has been beyond satisfactory. The whole trip was an outstanding experience. Christian and Laura have created a well oiled, highly coordinated and seamless ride. Everyone was professional and friendly, with client experience and safety at the forefront. Every night we were given the option to sleep in ...a swag, in a hut at the campsite, or in a tent with our swag inside. This catered for everyone’s preferences. I loved sleeping under the crystal-clear sky watching shooting stars from my warm, comfy swag. The food was plentiful and tasty, and I loved Swampy’s nightly entertainment around the campfire. Other highlights included day three, when Christian and Swampy took us to Picture Point for a thrilling photo opportunity, followed by some hardcore bush riding that went well and truly off the beaten track! Not to mention our final ride with Gwen on the way home, when we gave the horses their heads up the hill and a few logs offered some good jumping opportunities! I would highly recommend Globetrotting; even with the challenges of Covid, Kate and Laura assisted us to revise our plans and find a suitable alternative to our previously planned holiday. Once you globetrot, you won’t holiday any other way!' - Amen to that! We were absolutely stoked to be able to offer Erin Harriott, her partner and her father a COVID-safe alternative to their previously planned international holiday, and it sounds like the Craig's Hut & High Country Ride in Victoria, Australia was a perfect fit! https://www.globetrotting.com.au//craigs-hut-high-country/ See more

20.01.2022 If you're in the mood for a spot of armchair travelling, globetrotters, you MUST read this blow-by-blow account of the Craig's Hut & High Country Ride! Erica Neumann was kind enough to share her journal with us after completing this epic horse riding holiday and it's got us gripping our seats like saddles. Here's a dreamy excerpt: 'It's another lovely evening sitting around the campfire listening to stories, with lots of laughter and Swampy strumming and singing some more of ...those famous ballads. The warmth from the coals and the mystical flicker of the flames are readying us for our swags. I can see the full moon sneaking her way up over the range. This is truly a magical, wonderful experience with so much beautiful scenery. The horses are doing a fantastic job, being so surefooted along narrow tracks, some precariously steep climbs and then the opposite, slipping and sliding down over rocks and tree roots to get down to where we can cross the river once more.' 20.01.2022 Tales to Inspire: 'This trip is awesome! Lakes, mountains, waterfalls and wildlife, all experienced from the backs of amazing horses with the most caring guides. It feels like a cross between a point-to-point trip and a lodge-based trip, which is a great middle-ground for anyone not really wanting to go the whole hog with camping and packhorses, but still wanting that sense of rawness. I rode Cash-out and was really happy with how he went. I really loved the opportunity to do... some exploring off the horses, too - hiking up to the waterfall was really fabulous. It is always hard to put a value on these types of trips, but I LOVED this ride and would have to say it is great value for money.' - Lisa Matthews loved discovering the wilderness of New Zealand's South Island on The Glenorchy Back Country Ride! https://www.globetrotting.com.au//glenorchy-back-country-/ See more

17.01.2022 To be honest, I haven't been able to find the right words for my New Year note. Every time I drafted a couple of sentences the forced positivity made my stomach turn. So I'm going to be real and raw with you. Foolishly I thought with the changing of a year we would start afresh.... That miraculously we would wake up on January 1 and this invisible enemy would be pushed to the past. Archived to the last chapter of 2020. Never to be talked of again. That 2021 was going to be fresh, new and hopeful. That best laid plans eventuated. That grandiose travel adventures were never crossed out to be re-scheduled again and again. Waves of emotions wash over me. From despair to overwhelm to gratitude to guilt. Some days I want to... stamp my feet; howl at the moon; hide under my pillow; and wait for this terrible beast to disappear. And I live in the lucky country. Australia. The lucky state. Queensland - {until a few days ago that is} You're right, I have no standing to complain. And I'm not. I'm just acknowledging where I'm at. It's better that way. 2020 has taught me that change is inevitable. That planning wild and free riding adventures {coming to an inbox sooner-than-soon} is the oxygen I breathe. It's the beacon of light at the end of this dimly-lit tunnel. And I feel this is one last collective lesson for us all. Before this pandemic slinks back into the shadows. For us to wholeheartedly remember and never forget. To live in the NOW. To seek nature. To inhale and exhale deeply. And repeat. We get tremendous strength from you, our beautiful, big-hearted, gracious Globetrotters. And our amazing, superstar ride partners. Simply put. We adore you all.

17.01.2022 Tales to Inspire: ‘This was absolutely the trip of a lifetime! There wasn’t a single part that wasn’t amazing. Our hosts at the equestrian centre were extraordinarily friendly and skilled, able to pick out the perfect horse for each rider and confidently guide us through the countryside. The horses know their job inside out and were a joy to ride, handling challenging situations with ease. The Common Rides are easily the most incredible horseback experience I have ever had. R...iding through town among 200 or so horses, led by a pipe band and being cheered on by hundreds of people on the sidewalks was unlike anything I’ve been a part of. Going on to travel down the roads and gallop through the fields for hours, stopping for refreshments along the way at castles and picturesque villages, was truly thrilling everything you dream of and more. The rest of the trip was balanced out by relaxing rides through stunning scenery, fun cultural activities, and delicious meals. As an avid equestrian who craves new ways of experiencing and working with horses, I left Scotland as a more confident rider and so inspired by everything that we did. A few days into the trip I was already thinking about how and when I could do it again!’ - Theresa Schmid fell in love with the Scottish Borders Ride! https://www.globetrotting.com.au//the-scottish-borders-ri/ See more

16.01.2022 Tales to Inspire: 'The ultimate horse riding, wine drinking, time-out weekend. Perfect if you're not so saddle fit, but long to spend some quality time on horseback. Beautiful well loved and cared for horses, amazing and passionate hosts, delicious food, and copious wine. The beach ride and swimming in the river were awesome experiences. I just loved the whole trip! - Frances Graham loved getting away from the world on a sneaky horseback getaway by the name of The Shoalhaven Ride! https://www.globetrotting.com.au//the-shoalhaven-ride-aus/

We were truly spoilt with beautiful, well mannered horses, stunning rides and all the comforts you never expect when camping. It truly was glamping! The food was delicious and plentiful, and I was especially impressed by how well they catered to all the dietary requirements. 12.01.2022 Tales to Inspire: 'The Glenorchy ride was fantastic! The horses, accommodation, food and guides are amazing. Not to mention the scenery. I rode Cashout and he was a complete sweetheart. 09.01.2022 This week's mystery breed is the Lusitano from Portugal! The Lusitano developed from the same ancient breed as the Andalusian. Known as the Iberian horse, it lived on the Iberian Peninsula (now within Spain and Portugal) as long ago as 20-30,000 BC! Shaped over tens of thousands of years by the needs of the many civilisations that lived in Iberia, the breed became renowned first as a war horse ridden with unparalleled mastery by its Iberian riders, and later as the best horse... for the equestrian arts (now known as classical or high school dressage). It wasn't until the 1960s that the Iberian horses of Spain and Portugal were finally recognised as two distinct breeds: the Lusitano and the Andalusian. However, there has never been a time when the Lusitano was not the pride and joy of the Portuguese people - from the humble farmer to the mighty king. 01.01.2022 This week's mystery breed is the Norman Cob from Normandy in France! Described as looking like 'robust Thoroughbreds', Norman Cobs are unique among draught horse breeds. Although they descend from heavy Norman war horses, they have a strong streak of Arabian, Barb and Warmblood in their bloodlines making them faster, more energetic and more athletic than any other draught horse. The Norman Cob is also the backbone of France's national sport horse breed, the Selle Français, which is now internationally revered. It contributed incredible versatility, strength and docility - the same traits that now see the Norman Cob excel in driving and vaulting!
