24.01.2022 Here in Western Australia we have a pretty big number of sharks - and the big scary type of sharks not the little friendly reef ones The number of deaths / attacks is very low though, but it's always in the back of the mind and one of the reasons my girl is really hesitant to dive in our waters. 22.01.2022 If you are travelling to Kalbarri and after a great tour to fill your days - we highly recommend the Canoe the Gorges Tour with Kalbarri Adventure Tours! After a very bumpy down the outback 4WD track, you then treck down a steep trail to the canoes at the river. From there it's a beautiful and peaceful 4km return paddle up the Murchison River deep in the Kalbarri National Park, with the most beautiful scenery along the way . Then it's lunch and swimming in the waterholes, b...efore a VERY adventurous climb up the gorge back to the van. While my kids were awesome and loved the climbing and hiking, it might be a tad hard with really little kids or toddlers as it is a pretty tough trek at times. But an epic day that we will definitely do again when we go back to Kalbarri! I'll pop all our adventures on the tour in my stories aswell Bloody love you Kalbarri! 21.01.2022 CAMPING WITH DOGS Have you taken your pooch camping? This was my boys first proper trip camping and he really was such a good boy! Despite the fact in the first two hours of setting up he jumped into my parents caravan, misjudged as whippets do and sliced his leg open on the stairs. And having zero body fat, it looked awful. There was no vet available within a couple hours drive so he made do with a bandage and saline (luckily Mum has brains and packs first aid kits) and h...e was fine and saw a vet once we got home. It didn't affect his walking and he was able to come hiking everywhere with us! Would I take him again? If I could get someone to watch him, probably not as it can be limiting depending on what you intend to do. 18.01.2022 I have a bit of a love hate relationship with Mazes I won't lie...I have this weird phobia of getting lost and no one ever finding me. Anybody else? But the @yallingupmaze down in Yallingup was soooo much fun and so much more than just a Maze! Mark & Heidi have made this place a really fun filled, family friendly attraction where the kids can run off and have fun, either on the nature playground, in the maze or playing with the various puzzles - while Mum & Dad have a drink... and enjoy a delicious meal together. 18.01.2022 The beautiful Pink Lake just out of Kalbarri is a must visit if you are heading North. It was actually so much pinker this time than our last trip, and the colour can change by the day or even by the hour! We managed to get a day with absolutely zero wind so had a great morning flying the drone here, which I will share soon. (Kalbarri can be super windy especially in the arvos but we managed to get some amazing wind free days). 12.01.2022 Feeling all the feels this week while working on some travel stuff (and thought I'd play around with reels while I'm at it!). Yep I absolutely know we are lucky here in WA compared to other cities and countries. And yep I know I'm lucky to be healthy and happy with my family and Covid free. I get that and I am grateful don't get me wrong. But shit I miss this. Living and breathing travel and working in the industry is what I know and a huge part of who I am. Who my family is.... I miss the excitement of booking holidays and packing for flights. Scouring the internet to find our next destination and bargain flights. Researching hotels. I cannot wait for the world to get back to this point! So yes, I know we are lucky to be still working (well not me obviously haha) and living fairly normal here, but it's also ok to just miss life as you know it at the same time. 12.01.2022 Motorhome life got us good! There are so many pros about a motorhome holiday but I think my top one would be the arrival / setup. Honestly how many camping trips for you guys have almost ended in divorce just from the guiding in of caravans etc? This trip we just reversed, in rolled out the awning and it was wine time! There are so many reasons why we recommend everyone should try a motorhome or van holiday, especially with cruising off the cards for the foreseeable futur...e and I'll share all our tips and advice in your blog post shortly. 10.01.2022 My mermaid is now a PADI certified Basic Freediver thanks to the amazing Tania Blueback Freediving & Yoga At her age she can only be certified in Dynamic Apnea and can't do depth until 15, but the skills and breathing techniques she learnt in this course we're life changing for her freediving training. The yoga training will be beneficial in many ways as well, not just for freediving but in everyday life. I can't recommend Tania enough if you want to learn more about free...diving or take your course This girl of mine lives and breathes the ocean and finds a sense of peace and solitude underwater, that even I don't understand. 10.01.2022 What a beautiful morning with my boy watching the sunrise And I had no idea until after I took this pic that the rock kind of looks like a heart! There are some fantastic walk trails on top of Wave Rock and all are very family friendly. The beauty of staying at Wave Rock Caravan Park is that the rock is right there, so you can head over and watch the sunrise easily and then head off on a trail. Max especially loves hiking, I think I am going to try and plan a weekend hiking... somewhere close by just the two of us. Not sure I'm brave enough for an overnight hike in the bush but maybe a caravan park stay overnight and hike in the days. I won't have any trouble convincing the eldest girl to stay behind but hoping we can leave the little tired leg boy behind Do your kids like hiking? 09.01.2022 I couldn't come to Kalbarri and not redo this photo that freaked so many people out last time and yep it's an illusion... There is a ledge under him and it actually isn't really on the edge of the cliff. But looks pretty cool hey!? This is right near Nature's Window, the world famous natural attraction in Kalbarri. The brand new skywalks have also just opened and they are amazing! I'll pop some videos in my stories, those with a fear of heights might a little jelly legged ...but I think they are a great addition because the views are absolutely incredible from up there. 08.01.2022 How have I lived in Western Australia my whole life and never visited Wave Rock? And I admit - I was kind of expecting to be underwhelmed by it. But it is really incredible and so much bigger than I imagined! The natural formed wave which is over 2700 million years old is located in the tiny town of Hyden, just under four hours drive from Perth. It is over 100m long, 15metres tall and is now WAs most famous wave It gets its round shape due to the weather and water erosion, and there are some amaaaazing views up top.
