25.01.2022 I spotted these gorgeous flowers growing in a One Tree Hill vineyard. Lovely memories of my childhood ..... Who out there can identify them? Better still do you know the variety and sub-family? Hint - they are a very well known fruit available in most supermarkets.

24.01.2022 Alternative and rare varieties can be found throughout the Adelaide Hills Wine Region. An excellent final result on our one year old Mencia grafts - a significant high quality first crop, well balanced with the aid of an early season shoot thin and an early veraison bunch thin. #glog #mencia #adelaidehillswine #adelaidehillswineregion

24.01.2022 PEST AND DISEASE within viticulture can have an extremely large impact on yields, fruit and wine quality if not controlled properly. As a grower, it is crucial to understand the extent of pest and disease within your vineyard and the effective methods used to manage them. 22.01.2022 Happy to officially announce the end of Harvest 2020 for the team at Glog! Despite an absolutely crazy year and a season like no other, we are so proud of the job that the Glog team have done and the strength demonstrated by many growers throughout this time, especially those affected by the fires! Smashed through a total of nearly 1,700,000 metres of row length with the machine harvester and nearly 20,000 buckets picked during hand harvesting! Fantastic job everyone! Now the pruning begins

22.01.2022 One of the best features of Taglog is the remote job monitoring capabilities. The work is scanned in real-time in the field and immediately uploaded to our secu...re data base for our clients to access at any time, from anywhere, through their own individual and private account. This allows our clients to track and manage all of their jobs from a remote location and saves them the stress of running between job sites, especially during a time like harvest or pruning. . . . 21.01.2022 A quick morning tea to say goodbye and thank you to our picking team, those who have helped us through what must be the vintage ending in one of the most trying times that growers in the Adelaide Hills Wine Region have ever gone through. Most of these people have been with us for the whole season and are now facing the difficult reality of being stuck in South Australia with no work ongoing. This photo was taken yesterday and was meant to be the last hand pick for us for the season, although now we have a couple more booked. Sticking to social distancing rules while hand picking takes some self discipline! #glog #teamwork #adelaidehillswineregion

21.01.2022 Happy early Saturday morning smiles from Team GLOG! Great work team!! Happy Sauvignon Blanc picking with those beautiful big bunches .... yum. #glog #taglog.

19.01.2022 These blustery, cold, wintry mornings certainly yield their own beauty, but for such a short time. Its a little reward for the pruners out there so early on these freezing mornings - winter sunrises dont wait for latecomers. 18.01.2022 Spectacular autumn colours are highlighting varietal differences in this Piccadilly Vineyard. A warm still autumn has been perfect to accentuate these beautiful colours, but these rains will quickly discolour and drop the leaves. No camera filters or colour editing of these photos!

16.01.2022 Soil health and nutrition is such an important part of the recovery of our vineyards. We have been adding organic nutrients to the burnt vineyard soils through the drip lines where the foliage is too limited to provide much uptake of foliar nutrients. A major part of the soil recovery is balancing and replacing beneficial microbes and we use our fertigation systems to aid in this also. The vines that are less damaged and still have a functioning canopy have been responding well to our specialised organic foliar sprays which have been specifically formulated to reduce stress, rebuild cell walls and encourage regrowth. #adelaidehillswineregion #cudleecreekbushfire #vineyards #wineindustry #recovery

16.01.2022 Vineyard rejuvenation is progressing very well in the The Limestone Coast with MaxiCut. We will be in the region for a few more weeks bringing vineyards back into shape, not only without production loss, but with production increases of up to double in the first year! 15.01.2022 A good night, last night at Hains & Co, joined by other business men and women. It was a great opportunity for discussion, including the impact of the Cudlee Creek fires and the road to recovery that many growers are taking.

10.01.2022 Update: We are two months today since the Cudlee Creek Bushfire tore through our region, leaving devastation in its wake. Only two months? It seems more like a year. Two months of incredible progress.... We are very grateful to those who have helped get where we are. It has been an enormous effort of countless thousands of hours. The list of completed tasks is long........ Repair and replace irrigation tube Repair irrigation control valves Replace burnt strainer posts Reattach foliage wires to new strainers Cut down areas of vines with severe trunk burn Treat pruning wounds Remove vine trash Remove burnt irrigation wires Remove burnt irrigation tube for recycling Remove all burnt posts Pull out burnt post stumps Pick up staples where posts burnt Hand clean up all trash Knock in new posts Run new cordon wires Strain new cordon wires Staple new cordon wires Run new irrigation wires Strain new irrigation wires Staple new irrigation wires Spray for weevils that were destroying new shoot growth String all cut off vine butts ready for new shoot growth Reinstall new post hardware on replaced posts Clip all irrigation tube to new wires Put out applications of organic fertilisers, trace elements and soil microbes to re-balance the burnt soil Mark all vines with burnt trunks Trim back all burnt canes to prevent selection of burnt canes during winter pruning Trim off water shoot growth on all vines with canopy scorching but no trunk burn Train new shoots on cut off vines (1st pass) Train new shoots and tip out those above the cordon wire (2nd pass) There is still much to be done and it will be years of rebuilding ahead but the last two months have seen progress beyond our expectations. The story to date in pictures ......

08.01.2022 Multiculturalism at its best ... enabled by the use of Taglog Australias job and labour management system. Since incorporating Taglog into our vineyard management systems we have been able to focus on direct employment of vineyard labour, removing reliance on labour contractors. We are also now in the position to offer locals the opportunity to work on the vineyards in the picking crews, which in the past have been mainly controlled by labour contractors with limited ...ability for local employment. With our focus on fair pay, compliance and quality of work, we have been extremely happy with the results that have come from the use of Taglog, enabling us to manage the complete process down to management and payment of the individual worker either by hourly rate or piece rate. #glog #taglog #taglogaustralia #labourmanagement #horticulture #vineyards #wineindustry #adelaidehillswineregion #employment

05.01.2022 Glorious day in the Clare Valley Wine Region today following a foggy and cool morning. Our MaxiCut vineyard rejuvenation teams are making a great progress, working side by side to get through the last few hectares for the season before bud burst. These vines have been minimally pruned for some years. A quick pass with Maxicut to remove the overgrown cordons, followed by a hand prune to remove excess canes and trim up the vines is bringing them back to cane pruned vines capable of producing high quality fruit for the coming season.

05.01.2022 The work that GLOG Viticulture is carrying out in the fire affected vineyards is progressing well. #glog

05.01.2022 Today marks our second day of hand picking for 2021 and they could not have gone any smoother! 03.01.2022 Beautiful sunny morning yesterday in Kuitpo..... These old Shiraz vines which were a disarray of tangled canes and gnarled cordons with large sections of unproductive wood have been turned into fine examples of the older plantings in the Adelaide Hills Wine Region thanks to MaxiCut Australia. A quick pass with MaxiCut to remove cordons and old wood, followed by the VineClaw to remove all the trash from the midrows leaves us with these beautiful fruitful canes ready for trimming and wrapping onto the new cordon wires.
