25.01.2022 "Dry Creek" Drought Scene Metalworks Didier Colstoun

25.01.2022 Michael Kolbe Artist Statement In 1995 I bought a small metal bird in Harare, Zimbabwe which sparked the idea to produce my own metal sculptures. Starting with birds I made a batch and, with much apprehension, took them to the Armidale markets where they proved to be extremely popular. A few years later I held an exhibition in Gondwana Gallery, Alice Springs. This followed a few years later with an exhibition in Framed gallery in Darwin. Now I was producing a large assortme...nt of sculptures stemming from my love of the bush and it’s creatures. My work has been exhibited at a number of locations In New South Wales,as well as the Royal Easter Show, Sydney and the Dame Mary Durack exhibition, Brisbane .I have also had work at Gannon House gallery ,The Rocks, and Frances Keevil Gallery ,Double Bay ,both in Sydney. In 2014 my niece in England had sent me some pictures by renowned sculpture ,Harriet Mead. These were so outstanding that they reignited my flagging interest. She used mainly old tools and found scrap metal and so I embarked on creating sculptures differently. My current exhibition, which will be my last, showcases the work done since then. See more

24.01.2022 Resurrection is a collaborative exhibition by Lynda Love and Didier Colstoun. Lynda is a prolific avid artist who intentionally colours outside the lines as she refuses to fit in any box. She loves to create and has stumbled across the magical alternative photographic process of Cyanotype. She is a quiet story teller who resides in Blueys Beach area with her family and is constantly inspired by the nature that surrounds her. Didier is originally from France has lived in ...Australia for decades. Didier found himself on a self discovery trip in the Northern NSW area of Mullumbimbi in 2013 stumbled upon pins and other odd pieces of heavy metal on long-abandoned and discarded railroads. He focused on the odd and old, deeply rusted pieces of heavy metal lying scattered by the side. So he embarked on the potential to make designs, motifs and configurations. Both come together with their ingenious activity which has developed and beautifully resurrected into aesthetic creations.

11.01.2022 Karen Bloomfield Artist Statement I owe a lot to animals. They entertain me, keep me company, teach & inspire me and never ask for a commission when I paint their likeness. In return, I work diligently to ensure I capture their individual personalities and situations (although sometimes I may be a little imaginative here), so that the viewer can ‘connect’ with them on a deeper level than just ‘looking’ at them. This connection is an important outcome for me to impart to m...y audience. I was shocked many years ago to discover that some people don’t see animals as ‘people’ and, in fact, do not even believe they feel Shocking I know! So there it is, the crux of my animal work is in fact portraiture. Look into the eyes of any animal and there you will find a character in all his or her glory just waiting to share their story. I work on plywood because the unique grain of the wood imparts its own warmth and pattern to the composition as a whole. Horizontal grain for water and skyvertical for trees. Working charcoal and ink into the ply allow me to ‘play’ with charcoal to create both soft & fluffy, and hard & shiny textures. Ink as a translucent colouring medium allows me to preserve the ply grain. Oil on canvas is my go-to for amusing stories. Rich & colourful, oil provides a depth of colour and lusciousness that I have never found elsewhere. See more
