24.01.2022 This week we are not only commemorating World Sight Week, but also the 30th anniversary of 'SightFirst'. SightFirst funds have enabled Lions, health care provid...ers, and partner organisations around the world to fight the major causes of preventable and reversible blindness and assist those who are blind or visually impaired. More than 30 million people have been impacted over the last 30 years. Millions more still need our help. Lions in Australia played a particularly important role in establishing SightFirst. Two past editions of the MD201 Lion magazine from 1990 cited the establishment of the 'Lions Clubs International Sight Program' as the association's major international service commitment for the period July 1990 to June 1996. The September 1990 edition of the magazine acknowledged one of our own, the late PID Dr Bob Coulthard AM, for his role in formulating the basic concept for the program and presenting it to the International Board. PID Dr Bob Coulthard's contribution to Lions' sight saving activities and eye health programs was significant. SightFirst has gone on to play a crucial role in restoring vision for millions of people across the world. Lions continue to play an important role in eye health and blindness prevention through a number of different programs. https://www.lionsclubs.org//give-our-foc/vision/sightfirst

23.01.2022 Gloucesters Farmers Markets were held today, with quite a crowd attending. Lions Andrew, Bev, Danny, Gary and John from Gloucester Lions did the BBQ. Michael Medcalf delivered and picked up the BBQ trailer. We made $566. There is only one photo from today’s BBQ as they were too busy serving to take photos. .

18.01.2022 Members of Pambula Merimbula Lions Club are joining with Connecting Communities Australia and a host of 50 or so other volunteers in the Bega area of South East... NSW this week to help rebuild parts of the community badly damaged by bushfires in January. Devastatingly, there are members of the community in this area who still don't have access to running water. This group of hardworking volunteers will no doubt make a huge difference to the livelihoods of those still struggling. See more

14.01.2022 Gloucester Lions was recently able to facilitate some financial help to a local person emerging from the debilitating drought. The funds came from GVIT, a NSW State Government program supporting drought affected communities. Lions thank the GVIT staff for making this possible.
