25.01.2022 Last night I had the privilege to catch up with Darren Nation and his amazing team at the Horsley Park Rural Fire Brigade at their regular Wednesday night meeti...ng. It has been just over nine months since they lost Andrew O’Dwyer and Geoff Keaton in the Green Wattle Blaze in December last year. They are a tight unit and incredibly well led by Darren. They have looked after and supported each other, especially Andrew and Geoff’s families who are such an integral part of their local RFS family. They are now preparing for the forthcoming season, as they always do. They have also been able to recruit new members to their local Brigade who will be joining them wherever they are likely to be deployed. The trucks out the front are named in honour of Andrew and Geoff as a constant reminder of the selfless service they have committed to. I was pleased to once again be able to pay my respects to the memorial out the front of the station and spend some time together, talk about fishing, camping and the NRL and how they were all doing. As PM you so often get to see the best of Australia. Last night was another such opportunity and especially as we remembered Andrew and Geoff.

You can learn more about the fire danger ratings, and check the rating for your area each day, at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fdr See more
24.01.2022 Hot weather is coming to parts of NSW over the next few days. The recent rain means increased growth and as it dries out, the risk of fire will increase. Take the time now to know your risk and get ready. Check www.myfireplan.com.au for advice on making your bush fire survival plan.

Between 10am and 2pm, single lane stop / slow traffic control will be in place. This event will depend on safe and suitable weather conditions, so may vary from the plan described here. Please be patient, exercise extreme caution, and obey the directions of traffic control crews. #PacificPalms #SmithsLake #TarbuckBay #Bungwahl #GreenPoint #Coomba See more
22.01.2022 Fact: Your safest option is to leave early. A bush fire can be a terrifying situation, intense heat and flames will make you tire quickly, it will be difficult ...to see and breathe. You may become confused or disorientated. Powerlines and fallen trees can block roads and make driving dangerous. It’s always better to leave early, before the fire arrives. Visit myfireplan.com.au and make a bush fire survival plan, it will help you make important decisions like when to leave or what you need to be prepared to stay. #getreadyweekend See more

11.01.2022 Have you ever wanted to see exactly what it's like to fight a fire first hand? Well, thanks to Fire and Rescue NSW Station 83 Riverstone you can. Riverstone Fir...e Station were called to a kitchen fire on Wednesday, 9 September after a pot of oil caught alight. The kitchen was extensively damaged, however the owner's of the home escaped with only minor injuries. Check out the below video to see a kitchen fire through the eyes of a firefighter. Kitchen fires are the leading cause of house fires in NSW and a hot oil fire can engulf a room in a matter of minutes. Never attempt to put out an oil fire using water. Use a fire blanket only if it is safe to do so. Act quickly. Get out. Stay Out. Call Triple Zero (000) and wait for firefighters to attend. You can prevent a kitchen fire from happening by never leaving cooking unattended. #PreparedForAnything #MoreThanFire
