The popular Melbourne veteran knocked out Queenslander Les Sherrington _ just as he promised he would _ in the ninth of 12 scheduled rounds at The Pavilion in Flemington last night in his first fight for almost a year. The International Boxing Federation had confirmed Soliman as the No 1 contender for its middleweight title provided he won last night and now he is on the brink of his first shot at a world crown, which he has craved throughout a 16 year professional career.

04.01.2022 Former world heavyweight king Mike Tyson has been prevented from entering the UK. The 47-year-old was due to fly into London in order to promote his new autobiography 'Undisputed Truth', but recent changes to immigration laws means he is no longer eligible. Tyson served three years of a six-year sentence for rape in the 1990s and does not the meet entry criteria created under new legislation in December last year.... "Iron Mike" has been to the country many times previously. He boxed here twice in 2000 and has been on numerous speaking tours. A spokesman for publishers HarperCollins said: "There was a change in the UK immigration law in December 2012 of which we were unaware. "For this reason Mike had to change location to Paris to salvage his press obligations for the UK."
