18.01.2022 There is always something pleasant in our experience. Even when we are deep in physical, mental or emotional pain there is always pleasure somewhere in our experience. Body scanning is a great way to reveal these pleasant sensations. This is a great way to train your brain, balance out your negativity bias and soothe your nervous system.

13.01.2022 ****FLOWER POWER**** So delicate, yet so powerful and transformative. Flower essences and essential oils are such powerful tools for transformation. I love using them in Kinesiology sessions. They always come with their own potent message to help us make sense of an issue or blockage and then move forward. My favourites at the moment are Macrocarpa Australian Bush Flower Essence and Rose essential oil which arrived as a gift from my lovely @blueserendipitydesigns!!! #mosman#northshoresydney#healingsydney#transformationsydney#kinesiologysydney

12.01.2022 UNHOOK FROM STRESSFUL THOUGHTS! Our thoughts have the power to irritate us, depress us or even leave us feeling totally unhinged and anxious. The bad news is they aren’t going to magically stop showing up. So what can we do to stop ourselves from spiralling into unhealthy behaviours when these thoughts take hold. It’s a well known fact that regular meditation is the best thing we can do to help us look at our thoughts without reacting. However there’s also evidence to show th...at sometimes, like in periods of acute depression, meditation can actually make the situation worse. But there are still some great mindfulness practices you can do at those times. Here’s a great tip for unhooking from stressful thoughts on days where the mind is on turbo drive and the harsh self critic is front and centre hurling accusations in every direction. Get yourself a pen and paper and write down your stressful thoughts as they enter your mind starting with the words I’m having the thought ... (insert stressful thought here). eg. I’M HAVING THE THOUGHT THAT I’M A BAD MUM, I’M HAVING THE THOUGHT THAT I’M A BAD WIFE, I’M HAVING THE THOUGHT THAT MY BUM IS TOO BIG.... and just keep on writing those thoughts down as they enter your mind. You might find you write the same thought down 10 or 15 times. That’s normal (the monkey mind is crazy). Writing thoughts down in this way can be so helpful because it gives the mind a sense of having dealt with the problem which is all the mind really wants. You might find you start laughing at your thoughts as you are writing them which doesn’t always happen but it can be fun when it does. The purpose of this isn’t to make stressful thoughts go away but to create a little bit of distance from them so you can get back to living your life. This is just one way of unhooking from stressful thoughts but you can get creative and develop your own. I developed this for myself but I’m sure I’m not the first person to walk around scribbling insane thoughts in a note book . I’d love to hear how you unhook from stressful thoughts. 09.01.2022 Feeling like this? You are not alone. It’s more common than you think. Did you know that some symptoms of unresolved trauma can include feeling too much emotion (overwhelmed) feeling too little emotion (numb) an inability to connect with others even when you would so love to connect difficulty concentrating sleep issues exhaustion depression & anxiety shame & guilt. You might feel like there is something fundamentally wrong with you. But guess what YOU ARE NORMAL. T...hese are completely normal physiological reactions to unresolved trauma. But it doesn’t have to hijack your life. If you are in this boat learning new ways to soothe your nervous system will be invaluable for you. This is a topic so close to my heart. Now I want to mention that if you are experiencing a lot of these symptoms looking after yourself might seem like an alien concept or you might have a voice in your head telling you that you don’t deserve it. But I promise that if you can go ahead and do it anyway, even when that voice is really loud, self-care will become easier & easier and you will slowly begin to feel more deserving. An essential starting point is to experiment with deep breathing. Breathing is the fastest and simplest way to lower stress. Try resistance breathing. Take a deep breath in and exhale slowly and fully with pursed lips as though you are whistling or breathing out through a straw. Repeat this 3 - 10 times and notice how you feel. This is just one example of breathing for stress relief but there are so many others - just ask google (and I recommend you do).

06.01.2022 In case you’re wondering - we in the Nomad + Nutmeg + Glow office are registered as COVID - Safe with the NSW Gvmt. . You already know we have high standards of health / sanitation - and we continue to do everything we can to keep you (and us) safe. . We have washable face masks if you’d like to wear one; we’re wearing them if we are to be closer than 1.5m (which means all consults where we (Chiro) are in contact obviously); and everything gets an extra extra clean between ...clients. . There’s never been a situation with more people than is recommended in our space (our space to person ratio is very much in our favour, as you’d know if you’ve visited our clinic) . Yay Mosman and small business! . We’d like to thank everyone who’s called/emailed to reschedule their appmt if they’re experiencing any signs/symptoms - thus far all concerns have been negative anyway! Thank goodness! So please continue to do so . Forehead temperatures can be taken, sanitizer is available as it always has been (and it’s encouraged to wash your hands on entry). . As you know with a one person practitioner setting - our clinic is very controlled. Always has been; always will be. . And on a personal note - we take care of a lot of essential workers in our clinic (you know who you are) - we thank you as always for your service. . Any queries just email or call! 99697503 . 05.01.2022 Worldwide, people are turning to mindfulness for help. But how can closing the door of our little cells to sit down on our meditation cushion and turn our attention inward possibly address the problem of disconnection? If so many causes of psychological suffering today are systemic, isn’t any attempt at healing that centres on the individual not just doomed but making matters worse by keeping us focused on our inner and private world? Does the mindfulness industry just help ...people to cope with a sick situation, when what we really need to do is to get up and change that situation through social and political action in the external world?... This is from a beautiful article by Guest Blogger - @Gesa Brennan, meditation teacher & MBSR teacher at www.mindfulnow.com.au Gesa teaches in Crows Nest and all over online. 02.01.2022 Parents check this book out! It is full of fantastic mindfulness exercises. I get just as much value out of these exercises as my 4-year-old does. It's a great way to take a mindful moment together at those times when you need to regroup, calm down or focus. We love it! 5 stars thank you @mosman_library
