The 'long chain' part is important as although many plants do... provide omega-3s, they are the shorter chain ALA. While we do have the ability to elongate ALA to the long chain omega-3s (e.g. EPA and DHA) we have a limited capacity to do so. Particularly if you have the GT or TT variants of the NOS3 gene. Roughly half of us have these genotypes, including me, and for us that means we are best to ensure a good intake of long chain omega-3s directly. 18.01.2022 Eggs are one of the most scrambled topics when it comes to nutrition And for that reason, we were excited to see Dr Nick Fuller recently present some new find...ings from his randomised controlled trial called the DIABEGG study, which investigated the effect of a high-egg diet on cardiovascular risk factors in people with type 2 diabetes. Dr Fuller found that having 12 eggs per week as part of a healthy diet didn’t result in any negative health effects in people with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes, compared to a low egg diet (2 eggs or less per week). He says that eggs can safely be consumed as part of a healthy diet, even in those with type 2 diabetes and we reckon that’s egg-straordinary news for all our diabetic egg lovers out there!
