You might wonder what you can expect from us with a project like the Panel house? Here are already some details: certified passive house plus, pre-fabricated systems, SIPs, green roof, mass timber, 30000L rainwater water supply, solar PV system, concrete that reduces the environmental impact, Australian made certified PH timber windows, sustainably sourced fixtures & fittings, wood fibre insulation...and more! We will focus on the following posts on more specific details of the build. The entire G-LUX team is excited to share our journey with you! 02.01.2022 the Panel house - site preparation with a focus on sustainability Site preparation is an essential part of the build since its structure will provide the foundation. We determine the most suitable and economical method based on architectural design, engineering, site survey, and soil report. To achieve the desired change in ground elevation, we had to excavate existing soil. We try to limit site cuts as much as possible and instead encourage to work with the current shape of ...the land. If a site cut is required with more than one meter of depth, a retaining wall is necessary to prevent soil movement. #dincelstructuralwalling We like to use dincel where possible for our retaining walls. Our staff is trained to work with this specific product, so we don't rely on outsourcing this critical part of the build process. We have better quality control and flexibility working with a variety of shapes. The product also uses less steel than a conventional system; no added chemicals and less water for the concrete poured in the panels is needed. #boralaustralia #envirocrete #helix_micro_rebar_australia We looked into several options to come up with a solution to use less cement and steel. We decided on a concrete mix that was explicitly designed in the Boral lab for this project. It enabled us to use up to 40% less portland cement than a conventional mix with the same strength. Using the Helix Microbar instead of conventional pier cages reduced about two tons of reinforced steel. These are just a few exercises we perform to reduce the carbon footprint when building a home. #melbournebuilder #passivehouse #highperformance #custombuilder #energyefficient #sustainable #passivhaus #sustainability #energyefficiency #greenbuilding #prefab #ecofriendlyliving #healthyhome #thermalinsulation #homedesign #customhomes #architecture #builders #buildingdesign #residentialbuilder #construction #sustainableliving #environment #carbonneutral #carbonfootprint #sustainablearchitecture
