23.01.2022 Help us welcome our newest team members! We’re super excited to welcome Caroline, Christine, Stacey and Caitlin to the team, with each of these talented women already proving an asset to our firm. Not only are they kicking goals for our clients but they were extra good sports this week, posing and smiling as the photographer snapped a few new shots for our website, and other digital platforms (so we thought we better share a few with you all).... Now you can put a face to the name when you’re the phone.

23.01.2022 We were lucky enough to have a special visitor at our Christmas show earlier this month at Longview Vineyard... Father Christmas! He brought lots of excitement and smiles to the faces of the big and little kids. Well most of them anyway!

22.01.2022 So who’s up for coffee then!?

21.01.2022 We're big on supporting our small local businesses - because without these guys, we don't get our fix of fresh coffee, cold beer and warm pies (just a few of our team's staples to make it through the working week). But even more importantly, small businesses make our regional economies tick. They employ local people, take on our kids for traineeships, sponsor our towns' sports clubs and generally keep out regional towns thriving. So next time you're considering where to grab ...a cuppa, carton of milk, or pack of snags, go local - and give back to the small business families who support yours. #supportlocal

19.01.2022 Depreciation... make sure you claim what you are entitled to. As a small business owner, you should be looking to apply every deduction you're entitled to - the ATO have now simplified the rules for some of you. The 'Instant asset write-off threshold' has increased from the initial $20,000 in May 2015 up to $30,000 for assets purchased or used for the first time after 7.30pm on 2 April 2019.... For more information click on the link below. Or if you're one of our clients, we'll make sure this is on the agenda during our tax-planning meetings.

17.01.2022 For those of you who want to claim work-related expenses for your personal electronic devices - check out this explainer video from the Australian Taxation Office. It will help you understand your obligations (in simple language) and most importantly, what you can claim back as tax deducations in July!

13.01.2022 Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from our team to you. Enjoy a relaxing break with your loved ones and we look forward to seeing you again in 2020!

06.01.2022 Affected by the bushfires? Here’s some details that might offer a little relief: **ATO SUPPORT: The Australian Taxation Office is offering several support measures, because the last thing you should be thinking about at this time is your tax affairs. This includes an automatic deferral for monthly activity statement lodgements and payments that were due on 21 January and 21 February. For fire-affected areas in SA including the Adelaide Hills and Kangaroo Island, these are now ...deferred until 21 March. There’s plenty of other tax help available too, such as deferrals, payment plans, recovery of lost details and remittance of any penalties. You’ll find the full list on their website (click link below). **CLIENT SUPPORT: We’re also working directly with our affected clients to ensure they’re aware of these assistance measures, and to help out wherever we can - whether that’s talking through tax affairs, discussing your business' future rebuilding plans or some advice to help you get back on your feet. **OUR TEAM DONATION: We’ve also been heartened to see the outpouring of support for those affected by these terrible fires. Our own team has donated $5000 to the cause, choosing to split this equally ($2500 each) between the CFS Foundation and the Australian Red Cross. There are many outstanding causes currently operating across the fire-affected areas. These are two of our favourites, but we also highly recommend: - SAVEM (SA Veterinary Emergency Management) - the Kangaroo Island Mayoral Relief and Recovery Bushfire Fund - State Emergency Relief Fund for the Cudlee Creek fires - Vinnies SA Bushfire Appeal and - BlazeAid **REMINDER: If you are making cash donations to registered charities, remember to keep your receipts for next year’s tax time. We would encourage anyone who has the capacity to help, to consider how they can support the recovery period as well whether it be via cash donations, volunteering time, offering up your rental property to a family in need, giving food to Foodbank SA or looking after sick animals. Every bit we do makes a difference in improving the lives of those affected by this disaster, and our team will continue to support the cause in any way we can.

06.01.2022 A reminder for our South East clients - Andrew will be visiting Keith and Kingston over these dates (below) in February. If you'd like to secure a time to catch up with Andrew, please give us a call on 8536 3833, or get in touch via email on [email protected].

05.01.2022 Happy 2019 everyone! We’re looking forward to seeing all of your wonderful smiling faces again this year when we return. Until then... soak up the NY festivities (and if you’ve got a spare moment - why not check out our new fave tapas/cocktail bar, dangerously located just down the road from our Strathalbyn office).

04.01.2022 Do you work from home? Then this news is for you! The ATO has announced an increase to the hourly rate taxpayers can use to determine deductions for home office expenses (from 45 cents to 52 cents). From 1 July 2018 (this income year), individuals who work from home can claim deductions for business-related home office expenses by either:... - Claiming a deduction for the actual expenses incurred; or - Calculating the running expenses at the rate of 52 cents per hour. Taxpayers who use the rate-per-hour method will only need to keep a record to show how many hours they work from home. See more at the link below (and start adding up the extra dollars that might land in your pocket at tax time!).
