19.01.2022 *Sexual material warning on Roblox. Do your Kids Play Roblox? "Cyber-safety experts have sounded the alarm over vulnerabilities in popular gaming platform Roblox that could leave children exposed to sexually suggestive content. Leonie Smith, who teaches about online safety as the Cyber Safety Lady, last week posted on her Facebook page about a party room in Meep City, one of the most popular games on the platform. She shared screenshots of lewd signs in the room created by u...sers of the game. Ms Smith said Roblox was a lovely platform for creativity and interactivity and was now more popular than Minecraft for children in primary school but it had a lot of work to do to make it a safe environment. I love gaming and this isn’t about me being a wet blanket, she said. I just want parents to know what the risks are. Sometimes I go in there and experience nothing, other times it’s rampant. It has to be suitable and safe if you’re going to say you allow kids under the age of 13, which they do. Read more: https://www.theage.com.au//sometimes-i-experience-nothing-

05.01.2022 'My Daughter Doesn't Ask to Use my Phone Anymore' The debate over what is an appropriate age to give children a smart phone continues. Those for giving smart phones to kids at a young age cite physical safety concerns, such as wanting their kids to remain in contact as they go about their day. Some parents want to give their kids a device to teach their kids about safe device use while they can be supervised.... Those against giving smart phones to kids at a young age are rightly concerned over online safety issues and their children's exposure to inappropriate content. It's a dilemma that rages, and one there hasn't been a solution to until now. The solution has come from none other than tech expert Charlie Brown, although it was actually his wife Rachel who came up with the idea. "Rachel wanted a device that would play apps our kids could use in their bedrooms safely," Brown tells 9Honey. He had a look around using his extensive contacts and couldn't find anything that would suffice. "We had rules [for the device] like no camera, no open access to the internet, it can run whatever app you want and we wanted something that allowed them to have adventures but managed adventures," he says. "There was nothing that did that." Read More Here https://honey.nine.com.au//4339df2a-c53c-495d-8add-2b13a2e
