18.01.2022 Afternoon Men. Another ripping day for golf greeted the lineup early this morning for round three of the GMGA. The course was in good condition, but with a lot of bunkers out of play on our first 9, the feeling was a big score could be winning. For the first time this year we had a playoff and it was between the winner of Round 1, Konners and yours truly, winner of Round 2.... Konners the self proclaimed poor putter was victorious in a very lacklustre first playoff hole, which wasn’t helped by me putting horrendously. The winner though was very deserving and two putted for the victory with ease. Scores Final Scores 1st - Spilva 36 2nd - Caridi 36 3rd - Cave 34 4th - Smith 32 T5 - James 29 T5 - McGregor 29 T5 - Jurcic 29 Closest to the Pin - Konners Stand Fast Finance Closest in 2 - Jim Lewis LVLY Longest Drive - Serrano Overall Standings (average) 1st - Spilva 40 2nd - Caridi 38 3rd - Lossa 37 4th - Stapo 35 5th - Woosha 32 5th - Doc Livo 32 My lowlight of the day however wasn’t losing the playoff, as my car engine exploding at little river made the loss a distant memory... if you need me this week I will be in Sydney at the Australian Open Golf, thank F#CK I don’t need a car for a few days. Cheers Caridi

16.01.2022 New season less than 2 months away! #GMGA

15.01.2022 Afternoon Men. Round two is in the books and it was a tough day for most. The sun was out, but so was the wind... and it was a lot tougher than Yarra Bend. It’s a course that’s as open as you’re going to get and there was no shelter to any shots, so there was a fair few wrong fairways being played. Lossa was the front runner early and banked a lazy 23pts on the front and was Winx like odds to get his first win. On the back 9 though he battled and came up just short. Three bir...dies and 39pts was enough to see yours truely, the stand in Prez collect my first win of the season. Top 5 Caridi 39 Lossa 36 Doc Smith 33 Serrano 32 Ivan 31 LVLY Longest Drive - Korka Stand Fast Finance Closest in 2 - Serrano (again) Closest to the Pin - Doc Smith Special mention to Trav James that has gone back to back in finishing last, as well as Bomber Cave who drove through the 240m closest in 2 hole with a 5 iron. Next stop is Curlewis on Sunday the 19th of November. Cheers Caridi

11.01.2022 Congratulations to first year member Joel Czarnota, for becoming the 7th GMGA champion! #GMGA #socialgolf

08.01.2022 No friend of the RSPCA, this big hitting lamb slaughterer has put together a very consistent resume in his GMGA career to date, next up is Michael Stapleton. - NICKNAME: Stapo, stapes - RESIDES: Moonee Ponds, Ararat - YEAR JOINED: Foundation member... - GMGA APPEARANCES: 35 - TOP 5's: 18 - WINS: 1 - BEST FINISH: can’t remember, got a trophy one year for something - FAMILY: Kate, Grace, Fred, Alice - OCCUPATION: marine biologist - MOST NERVE RACKING GMGA MOMENT: When the bag of empty cans hit the bus driver and I looked at Caridi - FAVORITE GMGA VENUE: have loved the two rounds at Flinders - DREAM FORESOME: tiger, Norman & jack - FUNNIEST GMGA MOMENT: When the bag of empty cans landed on the bus drivers head - PRE ROUND RITUAL: maybe if I had one I’d win more. Might develop one this year. - WHO IS THE GOAT: Golf? Tiger - IF I WASN’T PLAYING GMGA I WOULD BE: playing golf with some even greater men......hopefully - FAVORITE SPORTS TEAM/PERSON: It was Greg Norman till he choked in 96, now it’s tiger - PARTY TRICK: Throwing a bag of empty cans on a bus drivers head - WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE INTRODUCED TO GMGA: More side bets within groups See more

07.01.2022 Men. Fair to say weather wise we have done pretty well so far this year and this round was no different. An overcast day with very little wind made a tough course look getable... well at least until my first tee shot went at right angles into trees and I went back to the bag for a fresh pill. However the day started in interesting fashion, our pre tournament leader decided mind games were in order and asked his current runner up for a lift down the coast. I say mind games bec...ause the aptly named Shifty was (supposedly) running 20mins late meaning yours truly was there with 2 minutes to get to the first tee! My guess is he was inside reading the paper with a coffee, I don’t buy this issues with the new born for one second! Well played Shifty. To be fair though he really didn’t need to bother with the mind games as currently he is a group 1 horse running in a maiden class at hanging rock picnics. Yet again it was a Spilva clinic, 22pts on the front 9 and even off the stick. A lazy 41pts and 74 with a lost ball! We are all playing for second at best. I did think it was a bit much to ask me how much was in the kitty though and then slip me a piece of paper with his bank details on it. At least play the required 6 rounds before you cash out. Mike Caridi

06.01.2022 Incredible scenes at GMGA - Cape Schanck today, 51 pts by Daniel Igoe storming into contention for the overall title. PGA Tour of Australasia Golf Digest #GMGA

06.01.2022 Morning All, Fair to say that the Flinders track was very well received by the GMGA members yesterday, with it being in immaculate condition. I think most would agree the fairways and greens were probably the best we have ever played on. It was also good that the rain stayed away and the wind was relatively good for that part of the world. On to the results... Bomber Cave stumbled slightly on the last to hit the club house with 36pts, while I made a 15ft birdie on the last to... equal that number. Ivan also very close with a lost ball on 18 costing him a playoff spot at worst. So on to the putting green we went. An even first hole meant we went to a second. Off the stick it looked like Bomber had made the 100ft putt, but it rolled off and up against the collar of the green. I got one to a few feet and with the collar stopping Bomber from giving it a good whack he three putted leaving me 2ft for the win. Sadly for the balcony of drunken golfers I made it and secured victory. (jesus these are hard to write when you win). That means after 6 rounds we have had only two different winners this year, Konners and myself with 3 each. You only have yourselves to blame! RESULTS LVLY Longest Drive - Ivan Stand Fast Finance Closest in 2 - Stapo Closest to the Pin on a 120m hole - NOBODY 1st Caridi - 36pts 2nd Cave 36pts 3rd Ivan - 35pts T4th Serrano - 34pts T4th Stapo - 34pts OVERALL LEADERBOARD 1st - Konners 42.00 2nd - Caridi 40.40 3rd - Stapo 35.00 4th - Cave 33.67 5th - Serrano 33.00 Konners still with a commanding lead, but Bomber and Serrano now charging into the top 5. Medway next up, Sunday February 4th at 7am. Make sure you get involved for this one which is close to home, beers will flow post round at a local venue. Cheers Caridi (Cardio)
